On July 4th, there was a citywide block party to celebrate the 4th of July. Luke is jealous that Luna gets to perform at it.
Luna was getting ready to go on.
"Tonight will be awesome!" Luna says.
With Luke, he was in tears and very angry.
Lucy finds Luke. "Are you okay?" Lucy asked. Luke shakes his head.
"I thought it was my year to perform!" He says.
Lucy hugged him as he sobbed.
Later, Luke goes to the party, the jealous look not leaving his face.
"This is going to be big for me." Luna says.
Luke wanders around the party, looking at everything from the games to the food. He even sees merchandise tables, some photo booths, and a few face painting booths. He then saw the stage.
Lucy wrote some poems although she looked bored as she then fainted.
"Lucy?" Lincoln asked
"Luce-Change will be all right. She's just doing one of her corpse things. It's always really spooky." Luna says, unaware it wasn't like that.
Meanwhile, Leni was eating as she saw Luke. Luke was eating a Drumstick ice cream cone while sobbing.
"Are you okay?" Leni asked. Luke cried and shook his head sadly.
"Luna stole my spot…" Luke says. "I THOUGHT IT WAS MY YEAR TO PERFORM AT THIS PARTY!"
"I'll talk to Luna later." Leni says and goes to do something.
Leni talks to the people in charge and asks them to let Luke perform.
They allow Luke and change it up.
"Thanks." Leni says.
Leni sees Luke about to leave.
"Lukey, you're going to perform! I got you in!" Leni says. Luke squealed.
"This is my year to shine!" Luke says. Luna sees Luke all excited.
Soon, Luke prepared. Luke takes some deep breaths and waits to go on. Luna comes up to him.
"Hey, Luke." Luna says. "I'm happy for you."
Luke smiles at Luna. "Thanks." He says.
Soon, Luke went on stage and smiled. He then performed "634-5789" by Trace Adkins. Girls ran up to the stage.
Luke looked surprised by this, but he kept performing. He then performed his song "That Thing You Do!", dancing all over the stage.
People cheered for Luke and girls screamed his name. When Luke finished, fireworks shot up.
"Luce-Change, you weren't even watching!" Luna says.
Lucy remained unconscious.
Luke was trying to get off, but the girls started fighting over him. He smiles at all this attention.
Soon, Luke was allowed to have the first slice of the 4th Of July cake.
"Aw, thanks…" Luke says and cut it and cut a slice for Lucy
"Lucy, wake up!" Luke says. "Luce-Luce, wake up!"
Lucy slowly rises up and sees Luke with a slice of cake for her. She took it and ate it slowly.
"You missed it!" Leni says.
"What did I miss?" Lucy asked as she was still eating her slice of cake.
"Luke was a star!" Luna says.
"Sigh." Lucy says, not happy she missed out.
Some girls wanted autographs from Luke, and Luke signed them. Luke then goes home.
Lucy fainted by the staircase, out of energy.
Later, Luke was thinking of his performance that he did today.
"Mom?" Luke asked.
"Yes, my bright little star?" Charity says.
"How did I do?" Luke asked.
"Amazing!" Charity says and walks out and sees Lucy on the staircase. She carries Lucy to bed.
Lucy clutches on to her a bit as she was feeling dizzy and lightheaded.
"Lucy, get some rest." Charity says.
"Lu…" Lucy slurred out.
"You mean Luke?" Charity asked as Lucy slowly nodded. Luke looks at Lucy.
Lucy fell asleep on his bed and clung to Luke. She was cold.
"She'll be fine, I'll take her to a doctor." Charity says.
A few days later, Luan had a gig. Luke was there to watch.
Luan smiles seeing Luke and does her mime act. Luke was amused by it.
Luan was soon juggling and Luke was clapping. After that, Luke left.
At the doctor's office, Maria looks at Lucy before issuing a diagnosis.
"She seems to have a brain tumor and anemia. Have you felt numb?" Maria asks as Lucy nods, fidgeting.
"A-Am I going to die?" Lucy asked Maria.
"No, sweetie, you're going to be all right." Maria says, unsure herself.
Lucy sniffed. "I don't want to die. I know it seems I'm dark, but there's more to me. Everyone assumes I'm a scary girl."
"Don't tell Luke, he'll freak out." Maria said.
Charity nods. "Stay safe, Lucy." Charity says as she heads out.
"You're going to leave me?" Lucy asked before looking down.
"Luke needs me." Charity says and heads out.
"Thanks for being there for me." Luan says to Luke.
"You're welcome." Luke says.
In August, on the 10th, Lisa was spending her birthday in her lab. She wanted nothing but gifts this year.
Leni finds Lisa.
"Hi, Lis." Leni says, holding her gift.
"It's a new lab coat!" Lisa says. "Thank you!"
"No problem. You have…fun." Leni says.
"I will." Lisa says.
Later, Lisa comes down for lunch. There was food for her and the kids. Luke eats away from everyone.
Charity later brings out bowls of Lisa's favorite ice cream.
Lisa tasted her mint ice cream and smiled. "I'm going to bed now." Lisa says.
"Don't you want my gift?" Luke asked.
Lisa opened it seeing a new lab set. "Amazing…" Lisa says.
She smiled at this and hugged Luke.
"And I thought you and I could go to the science museum for dinner." Luke says. "They have a whole exhibit based on famous scientists through the years that I've been wanting to see. Would you like to join me, Lisa?"
"I would be honored." Lisa says with a smile as she goes with Luke.
At the science museum later that day, Luke spends time with Lisa. They even check out the "Famous Scientists Through The Years" exhibit, learning a lot. They are now sitting at the museum's Burger King, sharing some chicken fries and drinking vanilla shakes.
"Luke, this has been amazing." Lisa says.
"I'm so glad." Luke says, smiling at Lisa.
"I want more birthdays like this." Lisa says, smiling at Luke.
"I know you'll get them. You deserve them." Luke says, sipping his shake.
That night, Luke brings her home and brings Lisa to her bed before going off to get in his own bed.
