46. Mezo Shoji (Tentacole)

A.N. — Out of all of Class 1-A, I feel this guy's personality is the hardest to pin down. That's the consequence of being the strong, silent type. So I chose a singular aspect of his to focus on. Happy birthday, Mezo Shoji!

Although Midoriya's scars were more famous amongst his peers, Class 1-A's most disfigured member was actually Shoji.

His ever-present mask hid the worst of the physical damage, but the mental toll his intolerant, rural upbringing had imparted was tougher to shrug off. Shoji's parents didn't look like him; none of the residents of his hometown did. At least at UA, acceptance was easier to come by. But still, the mask remained.

Shoji strove to show others the kindness his youth lacked. The mask was for them: he was inured to their fear; they weren't quite acclimatized to him yet.
