62. Makoto Tsukauchi

A.N. — I played with cliché phrases this drabble, in a bit of contrast to the sibling dynamic going on here. As someone who's read little of the Vigilantes manga, I had to stick with what I knew, even if that meant the older brother stars alongside his younger sister. Anyway, happy birthday Makoto Tsukauchi.

62. Makoto Tsukauchi

Her brother was a cop, yet Makoto still protected the Naruhata Vigilantes. Blood was supposed to be thicker than water, the old saying went, yet she never squealed about any illegal goings-on she knew about. Turnabout was fair play, though, for Naomasa: he never shared confidential department information with Makoto no matter how much she asked.

They were siblings, even roommates, but a lifetime of generally genial companionship was being wedged apart by something neither would compromise on. Makoto would feel guilty, but her drive to achieve her goals was paramount. Nobody, not even Naomasa, would impede her progress.
