Hi Readers: And welcome to another day of chapters. I hope that you guys enjoyed yesterday's chapters and are ready for a bunch more today as I know that I most certainly am ready to continue unpacking this beautiful home which Matt and Gabby now live in here in the Greater Chicago Area. And that's actually something that I want to address prior to me starting. I am well aware of the fact that I have changed things up a bit lately, and I want to apologize for that. But I just decided to make those changes, yet they were also the only changes that I wanted to make. I didn't want to go back and change anything other than what I changed, and that meant that I just needed to change a few words here and there. But I do want to say this, there's a reason for it…reasons that can't be shared yet. Now, what do you say we get started on this second day of unpacking; starting with a nice supper with Nancy? Enjoy readers.
Chapter Three Hundred and Fifty-Seven
Unpacking – Day Two, Part Two
Casey Kitchen – She decided that she was going to do something nice for the three of them this evening. And that would be to set the table, so that they can eat their food in there; because if there was one thing that Gabby knew, it was that they were not going to be eating Chinese food in the living room. And that was more than okay with Matt, as he wanted to make his wife happy. And if eating here in the dining room made her happy, then that was exactly what they were going to do. While at the same time, they were also going to take it easy and try and get as much done tonight before they continue with some more tomorrow, which was something that Gabby needed to talk to her husband about when he came back into the house from getting his mom, how she doesn't want what happened today to be a recurring event. She wants to unpack their home, so that they can bring their children home. Preferably, by Sunday; as she doesn't want him to celebrate his first birthday as a father without their children, or without some intimacy.
And while she did tell Matt that he wasn't going to get any, that most certainly will not be the truth; as she'll probably join him in the shower or something, as she does each and every morning. But right now, she isn't concentrated on anything other than getting the table ready for when their food gets here. Well, that, and her husband as he stood in front of her at the table; while she rubbed his arms and held him close to her. "Hi handsome." Matt smiled as she heard Gabby say that, while stepping close to his beautiful wife and kissing her softly this evening. "Hi gorgeous." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before kissing the man she loves once more. After which, she hugged him and just smiled at her loving husband. "Okay, you have something on your mind. You were really quiet when I came back in here with Andy, and you didn't even recognize that I was in here." Gabby sighed as she got out of his arms and proceeded to walk away to make her way over to the cutlery that she had to get out to go with their food.
"Yeah, I do have something on my mind."
Matt agreed this Gabby as she said that, before turning to face her and putting his hands on his hips. "Well, are you going to share what's on your mind? Is it something that you're frustrated about?" Taking a breath as she grabbed the cutlery out of the drawer, Gabby then proceeded to see that they didn't take them out of the bags and just put them in the tray. So, she decided to take them out of the bags and put them in there as a way to stall, which is something that Matt knew she was doing, so he decided to make his way over to her. That way, he could make sure that she was okay. "Hey, Gabby. Talk to me." Gabby sighed, before turning to look at her husband. "I was just thinking about what we've done today." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, while also getting close to her; he then pinned her in between his body and the counter, as to ensure that she doesn't walk away. "And we haven't done much. Heck, we have the beds and the sitting areas done. And yes, the bathrooms…but we have so much to do babe." Matt agreed with Gabby.
After all, that was a statement that he couldn't ignore; as it wasn't just a statement, but the reality. He and Gabby have been quite lazy when it comes to unpacking, which is something that needs to change. "And listen, I love you…you know that Matt." Moving his hand to Gabby's neck, Matt agreed with her before leaning in and kissing the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "That was never in doubt. I always knew that you loved me, and I will always know that you love me." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, glad that was the case; not that she really had any reason to doubt that he'll always love her. "I guess, what I'm trying to say is…" Matt then proceeded to finish her sentence. "You don't want to keep going with our current schedule?" Gabby sighed as she looked at the man she loves, as that was something that she needed to think about. "I guess…." Gabby then took a breath, looking up at Matt. "I'm thinking about the kids…especially the girls, and how scared they must be." Matt was confused as he heard Gabby say that.
"What are you talking about Gabby? They're with your parents. Why would they be scared?"
Grabbing her husband's hand, Gabby cuddled up to him and sighed. "Matt, you do realize this is all new for them. The boys have only known Hawaii and Los Angeles as their home, the girls have only known Hawaii as their home. You don't think that it might worry them, not having their mommy and daddy with them?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as that made complete sense to him. The fact that this is their first time in Chicago, without them. "I know, and that makes sense now." Gabby agreed with her husband. "Listen, I'm not saying that I want them back right away. We have a couple days, as they come back before your birthday; that's a guarantee. But what I'm trying to say is…" Matt then went to finish her though, again. "Once they're here with us, you don't want them to leave again." Gabby agreed with Matt, as that was exactly what she was thinking. How she wants them to stay after his birthday. "Exactly!" Smiling, Matt agreed with his wife before moving to get nice and close to her; before kissing her softly.
After which, Gabby put her hands on his chest. "Just curious, what brought these thoughts on?" Smiling, Gabby proceeded to look at the sink; the sink that had some of the boys' plates and sippy cups in them. "Sink." Turning his head, Matt was confused until he saw that the boys' sippy cups and plates were in the sink. "Oh, that makes sense now" Gabby agreed with Matt, before turning her head and smiling as she was extremely happy right now. Happy to be with the man she loves, as they held each other close and just cuddled up to each other. "God, you are so comfortable when you hold me in your arms." Matt agreed with Gabby, before smirking as he bent down and kissed her softly. "Listen, I'm going to readjust my office and get that set up." Gabby just looked at her husband as he said that, as she wasn't sure that she liked that idea. "You mean work?" Matt shook his head, as he isn't going to work.
"I'm on leave of absence so that I can get my life settled here. And that means that you get me all to yourself."
Gabby smiled as she heard her husband say that, before stepping close to him and leaning up so that she could kiss the man of her dreams softly. However, they were soon interrupted by his mother. "Oh, my apologies." Turning her head, Gabby shook her head. "Oh, that's more than okay Nancy." Letting go of her husband, Gabby smiled as she made her way over to her mother-in-law so that she could hug her. "How are you doing out there?" Nancy smiled. "Good, getting some things ready. And I promise you, that your China is safe out there." Gabby agreed with her mother-in-law as she told her that her China is safe, which is something that she's grateful for. "Thanks, we may need it in the future." Turning his head, Matt was confused. "What are you talking about?" Smiling, Gabby looked at the man she loves. "Haven't you seen how nice our backyard is?" Nancy laughed, as she already knew what she was thinking.
Heck, they were all thinking that way. "Perfect place for a vow renewal." Gabby nodded, smiling at Nancy due to the fact that it's perfect. "Now listen, I hope you know that I appreciate what you're going to do for us." Nancy waved her hands, as that wasn't something that she needed to say. "Gabby, you have nothing to thank me about. I want to get this house set up as soon as possible, so that we can have our family here." Gabby laughed, before turning around to look at her husband. "I hope you know that's the case." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, well aware that was the case. "Okay, well I know that's what we're going to do. Now listen, I think we both know that we have a lot to do. We have supper to eat, and then we also need to unpack some more." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, before smiling at him. "Listen, I'm going to start with the nurseries." Matt shook his head.
"We already have the clothes put away with our friends, and we're mostly just unpacking boxes."
Nancy agreed. "Then where do you need me?" Gabby smiled at her mother-in-law. "Well, we do have the kids' clothes. Well, some more sorting. I think we just need to put it away. It's all on the ground still. Matt did the crib, and that's what you need to do. Or did you do it?" Matt smiled. "I already did the boys' crib, but I've yet to do the girls' cribs. I can do those later though, as they are going to be in our room for a while. But what else can I do for you?" Gabby smiled. "How about you go do what you want to do, and that would be in your office? I need a bit of girl time with your mother." Matt laughed, before looking at Gabby as he got close to her; after which, he wrapped his arm around her and leaned in to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt, before pushing him away right now. "Get out of here and get to work." Matt agreed, before doing just that.
It was finally just the two of them, herself, and her mother-in-law, which is exactly what Gabby wants right now, as she wants to get to know her some more. And she also wants to talk to her some more, and just get a good relationship started with her children's grandmother. And that was why she decided to speak first, as she was the one that really wanted this. "I'm glad that Matt allowed us to get some time alone with each other." Nancy laughed as she heard Gabby say that. "Let me guess, he's smothering you with love?" Blushing, Gabby agreed with Nancy as that most certainly is exactly what Matt's doing right now; he's smothering her with his love, not that she'd ever complain that he was doing so. I mean, what wife doesn't want to be smothered with her husband's love? But the truth was, there was another reason why she was interested in having a bit of one-on-one time here with her mother-in-law.
She wants to get to know her better.
After all, she is Matt's mom, as well as her children's grandmother. And since she hasn't really gotten a chance to spend some one-on-one time with her yet, that's exactly what she wants to do right now. "The truth is there's another reason why I wanted to be alone with you." Turning her head, Nancy was confused; and she then started to think that it was for a bad reason. "Is everything okay?" Looking at her mother-in-law, Gabby agreed as everything most certainly is okay. "Nancy, of course everything is okay. You have nothing to worry about, I promise." Nancy agreed with her daughter-in-law as she told her that, while also listening to her. "I just wanted to get to know you better." Nancy agreed with Gabby, as that makes a lot of sense. "Yeah, we haven't had much time to do that; have we?" Gabby shook her head. "And I feel bad about that." Nancy smiled, before going to hug Gabby this afternoon.
After all, she has no reason to feel bad about it; with everything that she's been going through over the past couple of months, it makes sense that she's been busy and just needs to take time with her husband. "Gabby, that's more than okay. I know that you and Matt have been going through a lot, and that just means that you guys needed to take time with each other; and just get settled with everything." Gabby agreed with Nancy, as that most certainly is the truth. "Nothing like moving four times in a year." Nancy was surprised as she heard Gabby say that. "You guys have moved how many times in the past year?" Gabby snickered. "Chicago to Hawaii, Hawaii to Los Angeles, Los Angeles back to Hawaii, and Hawaii to Chicago." Nancy was surprised as she heard Gabby say that. "Wow, that's a lot of moving." Gabby agreed with Nancy. "Then again, that explains a lot." Gabby was confused as she heard Nancy say that.
"What do you mean by that?"
Nancy snickered. "Oh, just how it seems like you guys have this down to a science. You guys do it so effortlessly, and I wondered why that was the case." Gabby agreed with her, before smiling as that most certainly was the case. However, she was soon interrupted in the conversation that she was having with her mother-in-law, by the sound of her husband calling for her. "GABBY? Can you come here for a second? Oh, and can you bring the tape that we have in the drawer? The black tape, big one!" Gabby was a bit confused as to why Matt needed that, before looking at her mother-in-law as she proceeded to grab something out of the boxes; more specifically, the dishwasher pods. "Under the sink." Nancy agreed with Gabby as she said that, while watching as she made her way over to the drawer that Matt asked her to grab some tape out of. "Coming Matt!" Matt agreed with his wife, ready for her to come see him.
Casey Home Office – Walking into her and Matt's home office to see him on the ground, Gabby was confused as she didn't understand what was going on; especially since their desks were already done up, and they didn't even have to take them apart when they moved them to Chicago from Hawaii. But if her husband was going to propose again, then he should be on one knee. "Last time I checked, to propose you need to be on one knee." Turning his head as he looked at his wife, Matt smiled. "Yeah, I'm not proposing again." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Then what are you doing?" Gabby then proceeded to make her way over to one of the desks that they had in here, and leaned on it; however, that was the last thing that Matt wanted her to do. "Okay, maybe don't do that." Matt then walked over to Gabby, and proceeded to grab the desk to make sure that it didn't fall off the rolling wheels. "Okay, what's up?" Matt then sighed.
"It's on wheels at the moment."
Looking down, Gabby realized that. "Oh." Matt agreed with Gabby. "And unless you want to make thing ten times harder for the both of us, then I suggest you not push it over." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she most certainly doesn't want to make anything harder for the both of them. "So, what do you need me here for?" Matt took a breath. "I just thought about this before I set it up. But, I have questions when it comes to how you want this set up. Do we want our desks facing each other? Or do we want them against the wall? And if so, which wall?" Putting her hands on her hips, Gabby thought about it. "Okay, why does it really matter? We can always switch it around. Just place your desk where you want it." Matt sighed, as it wasn't that simple. "Unfortunately, it's not that simple." Gabby was confused as she heard her husband say that. "Why exactly?" Matt sighed as he looked at Gabby.
"Our desks can only be 10 feet apart at the most."
Grabbing his tape measure, Matt proceeded to show Gabby how far apart their desks can be. Yet, that still confused Gabby. "Okay, just tell me why that's the case. Matt, just cut to the chase." Matt sighed as he looked at his wife, before pointing to the corner. "That's our server." Gabby nodded. "The server that connects us to the office in a secure manner." Gabby then realized that. "Oh." Matt agreed. "And I need to know where I need to put it. If we want our desks side-by-side at the window, then it can be in between ours at the router. I want to be able to connect to it directly when we're working in here. If not, we do wirelessly when we're in the house." Gabby thought about it. "Then why can't we just do wirelessly in here too?" Matt bit his lip. "I guess we could." Gabby then proceeded to get close to Matt, seeing that he was a bit nervous. "Hey, look at me." Matt agreed with his wife, nodding as he took a breath as asked.
After all, that's exactly what he needs to do at the moment; he needs to take a breath, and just relax. "Sorry, this is just…" Gabby agreed with Matt. "I know, it's a lot." Matt agreed with his wife, before walking over to his desk and leaning against it; after which, Gabby made her way over to the door as she felt like they needed privacy for a moment. But first, she looked out at Nancy. "Nancy?" Turning her head to look at her daughter-in-law, Nancy agreed. "Yes dear?" Gabby smiled. "I just need to talk to Matt for a moment." Nancy agreed with Gabby. "Go ahead." Gabby agreed, before proceeding to close the door behind her; after which, she made her way over to Matt so that she could stand with him. Because right now, that's exactly what her husband needs; for her to stand with him. "OK. Just take a breath, and relax; okay baby?" Matt agreed with Gabby, doing just that for his beautiful wife this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Gabby made her way over to him and stood right in front of him, while also placing her hands on his chest and cuddling up to him; and let's just say that made Matt quite a happy husband, as he soon placed his hands on her body. "Now this is something that I enjoy." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, before leaning in and proceeding to kiss the man she loves, who really needs to relax right now, as he's going a bit overboard. "Look into my eyes for a minute, okay baby?" Matt agreed with Gabby, doing just that for his girl as he held her close; before leaning in to kiss her, and starting to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves. Just taking things nice and slow with Matt, Gabby smiled as she helped her husband calm down, which is precisely what he needs to do at the moment. He needs to calm down, and just take it easy as he works in here. "Let me guess, just want to get it done?" Matt nodded.
Moving his hands to her sides, Matt held his wife close. "Listen, I know that I took leave from the company to get us settled; but…" Gabby agreed knew what he was going to say, so she finished his sentence for him. "You still need to be on call in case something needs your attention." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that most certainly was the case. "Sorry if that's the case." Gabby shook her head, as Matt had no reason to apologize for being a good boss. "Baby, that's what makes you a good boss. You make sure that you're there for your employees when they need you." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that. "And the truth is, I would much rather compose e-mails on here, rather than on my phone or iPad." Gabby agreed with Matt, well aware that was the case. "I know, composing e-mails on an iPad is a pain, which is why I am okay with you setting this up, as I know you do still need to be available." Matt sighed.
After which, he looked down…which got Gabby concerned. So much so, that she stepped closer to the man she loves and wrapped her arms around his neck; meanwhile, Matt wrapped his arms around her. "Hey, you okay baby?" Matt sighed as he looked up at his beautiful wife. "I'm just worried that I'm overextending myself." Gabby shook her head, as that was the last thing that her amazing husband was doing right now. "Matt, I don't want to hear that; as that most certainly is not the truth, because you're doing a great job baby. You're a great boss, a true leader, an amazing daddy, an even better husband…" Stepping close to the man of her dreams, Gabby then put her hands on his face and proceeded to whisper in his ear. "And if I do say so myself, an amazing lover." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, before leaning in and moving to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world.
"God, you're making me want you later."
Gabby smirked as she kissed Matt again, while taking things nice and slow with the man she craves. "We are so not calming down, are we?" Matt snickered as he heard Gabby say that. "Have we ever calmed down since the day we got engaged?" Gabby smirked, as she can still remember that night; and just how sexy that was, and every intimate. "I swear, that was such a great night. It started off so intimate, and then became very sexy." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, as that most certainly was the truth. They then both went ahead and started to think back about that night.
