Hi Readers: Before I write this chapter, I just want to say this. I have decided that I am going to do a bit of a twist on this chapter, and that means that it may not play out exactly like it did in the show. But that doesn't mean that it isn't going to be similar. Enjoy.

Chapter Three Hundred and Fifty-Eight
FLASHBACK: Celebrating Our Engagement, and the Morning After

October 2014, Chicago Fire Academy – She was currently on track to take her academy test next week, the test that would make or break her career in the fire department as a firefighter, which is what she really wants to be, a firefighter. Sure, she's been a paramedic for the longest time; but this is really what she wants to be, a firefighter. And thanks to the man she loves, that's exactly what she's determined to do it this time. To pass the entry exam and make her way into the academy. And that's all she wants at the end of the day, to be with the man she loves; and to be a firefighter, which is something that she spoke to Shay about just months ago before she died. But now, she was going to do it; with Matt's help, she was going to pass this test. "Okay, so this is simple. Run up the stairs, in your gear." Gabby agreed with Matt, well aware that was the drill. "I know, I just hope I can do it in time." Matt agreed with Gabby.

After which, he proceeded to make his way over to the woman he loves. "Hey, look at me." Gabby agreed with Matt. "You can do this, because all of your years as a paramedic has prepared you for this. You've seen us do it thousands of times, and just think about what I do. Even better, pretend you're my candidate and just think about how fast I would run up those stairs. And what does a candidate do?" Gabby smiled. "Stay on your hip." Matt agreed. "Then do just that. Stay on my hip, at my speed…and you shouldn't have any problems doing this." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before smiling at him. "You know, it means a lot to me for you to do this." Matt agreed. "Hey, you're my girl. And this is just one of the many things that I do for my girl." Gabby agreed with Matt, before letting him go as she wanted to start this race up to the top. She wanted to do it and prepare for her entrance exam.

But first, she needs to listen to Matt's voice. "Okay, you ready?" Gabby agreed, giving him one last nod to let him know that she was more than ready to do this. "Go!" Gabby then proceeded to run off, ready to make her way to the top of the academy. To the place where she was going to qualify for the academy….and get engaged to the man she loves, she just doesn't know that yet.

Matt's POV:
As I watched Gabby run off to go run up the stairs, I smirked due to the fact that I already knew that she was going to do it with time to spare; heck, I didn't even need to time her. Not that it really mattered when it came down to it, as that's going to be the last thing on her mind once we're both up there. When I'm up there with her and doing exactly what I did on the day of Boden's wedding; and that would be asking the woman I love to marry me, hopefully on one knee. Then again, Gabby is going to be up there before me; so, I'm not sure whether that's going to be possible. All I know is that I need to get up there and be there to ask her as soon as I can; because I've waited long enough, and it's finally time to ask her to marry me. I have her brother's blessing, now just to get her to say yes.

And while this may seem fast to some people (we've only been together for ten months), it feels much longer to me; due to the fact that we've known each other for a long time before this day. Before we stared dating, and truly fell in love. And if there's one thing that I know, it's that Gabby if my forever…and she'll always be my forever. But now, it's time for me to run; to make my way up to the roof, so that I can do what I need to do today. And that would be to ask the woman I love to marry me once and for all.

She was finally up here, on the roof of the academy; and she was certain that she did so with time to spare, which would most certainly mean that she should pass. But she didn't know yet, because Matt wasn't up here; where he said he would be. But that didn't mean that there wasn't something up here. Something that she hasn't seen for a while, which would be the ring that Matt had at Boden's wedding; and that was exactly what she was drawn to at the moment, the ring that Matt proposed to her with at the wedding. Which just so happened to also be the day which Shay died. But she wasn't thinking about that right now, as she was instead thinking about how gorgeous that ring was; and about the man who was giving it to her, especially when she heard the door close.

The door that was on the stairs that would lead to them going down to the ground together, just as soon as Matt asked her a special question, which he most certainly was ready to do, just as soon as he walked up to her. And that was literally what he did. "Gabby, will you…" Nodding, Gabby just agreed with the man she loves; because of course she's going to marry him. He's the man of her dreams, and that will always be something that she wants to do. She wants to marry him and become Ms. Casey. And that's exactly what they started to celebrate, as Matt wrapped his arms around her and started to kiss her and take things nice and slow with her; and god, was that perfect. The way their lips moved against each other's. But that wasn't all he did, as he also grabbed the box from her hands.

Looking at his future wife, Matt smiled as he took out the ring and then went to hold it out. "Can I?" Gabby agreed with Matt as she held her hand out, allowing him to do exactly what he wants to do; and what he's wanted to do for months: slip her engagement ring onto her finger. After which, they got close to one another again and proceeded to take things nice and slow with each other. But now, they had to do something else. And that would be get home, which is something that Matt was more than ready to do as he wanted to celebrate this. Celebrate that he's found love again, and that he's going to be Gabby's husband. She's going to be his Ms. Casey, and he can't wait for that day where she gets to take his name. "Let's go!" Gabby laughed and agreed with Matt, as she wanted to do that.

Casey Condo – Walking into the condo with his new fiancé in his arms, Matt smiled as he wrapped her legs around his waist and proceeded to kick the door closed behind him; after which, he locked it as he wanted Gabby. He wanted to take her in his arms, as they celebrate the fact that they're engaged. "Welcome home fiancé." Gabby smirked as she heard Matt say that, as that was exactly what she wanted to be called. She wanted to be his fiancé, and she wanted to be his wife in the future. But for now, this was okay. She was okay with their new status, as she felt Matt carry her through their room. "God, that was perfect." Matt agreed with Gabby. "You're perfect." Carrying her through their place, Matt smirked as he proceeded to make their way right to their room.

After all, that's where they both want to be at the moment; they both want to be in their room and holding each other close as they celebrate the fact that they're going to get married in the future. But right now, they are not thinking about getting married when they need to celebrate instead. And that's precisely what they're going to do now that they were in their room, and Gabby was on the ground in front of Matt. Stepping close to Gabby, Matt smirked as he put his hands on her hips (thank god she took off her turnout gear at the academy) and proceeded to grab her pants. Meanwhile, Gabby grabbed his shirt as they took things slow with each other. "God, I love you Matt." Matt agreed with Gabby, as he loves her too and will always love this woman here in front of him.

"I love you too Gabby, forever."

Taking off her pants, Matt picked Gabby up in his arms before kicking them away; after which, she felt her grab his shirt once more to take it off. So, he decided to help her as he wrapped her legs around his waist. That way, they could do things faster; and boy did Gabby love what he decided to do. It truly was perfect, and extremely sexy. The way he just held her in the air as he got undressed, was exactly what she wanted right now. She wanted to feel him please her, which is exactly what he's in the midst of doing as he went ahead and got her undressed. After which, he opened the covers to their bed and laid her down in bed. "God, so sexy." Gabby agreed with Matt as she put her hands on his face and kissed him softly. Meanwhile, Matt proceeded to take off his pants.

The pants that were the second last thing in the way of him and Gabby having each other, which is exactly what they both want right now. They want each other, as they want to celebrate getting engaged. A huge milestone in their relationship, which Matt is so happy about. He doesn't care how fast things went, just as long as she's going to be his wife in the future. And that celebration starts now, as Matt proceeded to take off his pants. After which, he climbed into bed with his girl, getting on top of her and then tugging the covers up on top of the both of them. Meanwhile, Gabby put her hands on his face as they kissed each other. "I love you Matt." Matt agreed with Gabby. "I love you too Gabby." Matt then proceeded to put his hands on her neck, as he took things slow with his girl.

The woman he craves more than anything in the entire world and will always crave. After which, he rolled over so that she was on top of him and smirked as he went ahead and wrapped his arms around her; grabbing her bra in the process, he then went ahead and undid it as he wasn't wasting time. "I'm not wasting time." Gabby shook her head, as that was the case thing that she wanted Matt to do. She didn't want him to waste time, when she wants her man to take her in his arms. "Don't. I want you Matt." Matt agreed with Gabby, and followed her wishes to give her what she wants fast; something that was accomplished by him taking off her bra and throwing it away. After which, he ran his hands down her body to grab her underwear (while Gabby did the same thing).

Grabbing Matt's boxers, Gabby tugged on them before he went ahead and rolled over on top of her once more; in the process, the tugged off her underwear and threw them again. However, that didn't mean that Gabby was going to take off his boxers; as he was going to need to do that for her, not that Gabby minds…especially not when she has her man on top of her. So, she let Matt take off his boxers, which he did shortly after flipping them over. After which, he gave her exactly what she wanted in order to celebrate their engagement. And that would be him. He gave her his love, and a bunch of intimacy from him as they celebrated that they're the future; and that she's the only woman that he could ever see himself having a future with. But they did it slowly, as this wasn't sex.

Rather, Matt was going to make love to Gabby, which is exactly what she wants him to do, she wants him to make love to her. She wants to feel him take things nice and slow with her, as a way to show her that he loves her in the most intimate ways possible. And that way would be to make love to her, which is exactly what Matt is in the midst of doing with her. He's making love to her.

The next morning – She was currently laying down in bed, staring at the most people ring in the entire world as she thought about what happened the night before. How she and Matt got engaged, before making love to each other. But right now, she didn't have the ability to speak to him due to the fact that she was alone in bed; but she wasn't alone in their room, as Matt just walked in wearing his boxers and carrying a cup of coffee. "Morning." Her new fiancé said to her, in his sexy morning voice. After which, she smiled at him. "Hey, look at this, some crazy guy proposed to me last night." Matt smirked, nodding. "I hope you gave it some thought." Gabby just smiled, before watching as Matt walked up to her; leaning over her, he set her coffee down before kissing her softly.

Meanwhile, she wrapped her arm around his neck. "I love you." Matt smiled. "But god, there's no way that Severide didn't hear us last night." Matt shook his head. "No, he didn't. Bed's made up. Doesn't even look slept in." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Oh." Matt agreed, before going to climb onto their bed and lying down in front of her. "Said something about spending the night at Lindsay's." Gabby agreed with Matt, before thinking about Shay. "Good, I'm glad that's still a thing." Getting concerned, Matt looked at the woman he loves. "Sorry, it just comes…" Stopping her, Matt sat up. "Hey, hey. Look at me." Gabby agreed. "You have to tell me when that happens." He then reached for her hand. "What do you think this is? It's not just a ticket to free sex woman." Gabby nickered.,

After which, she looked at Matt. "I know, it's just a lot to think about. She should be here. I was going to call her first thing, until I remembered…" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before looking at her. After which, he proceeded to get up once more and made his way closer to her. "Here, slip over." Gabby agreed, doing just that for Matt. She then watched as he opened the covers, before joining her in bed and wrapping his arm around her. After which, he turned his head and kissed her forehead softly. Something that Gabby really appreciates, as that's exactly what she needs right now. She needs to be held by her man, as they cuddle in bed. "I just wish I could show her the ring." Looking down at Gabby, Matt smiled. "She already saw it." Gabby looked up at Matt.

"She was there when I bought the ring. She helped me, and she was thrilled for us."

Gabby smiled as she looked at her new fiancé, before putting her hand on his muscular chest. After which, she took a breath while feeling him press his lips against her forehead. "Gabby, she was happy for us. And I think she knows that happened last night. She knows we're engaged, and she's truly happy for us." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she had to believe that as well. She had to believe that Shay was happy for the both of them, as there was no way that she couldn't be happy for the both of them. At the same time, Matt pressed his lips to her forehead once more. "Here, you want your coffee?" Gabby agreed, before looking at him. "Can you grab it for me?" Matt agreed, doing just that for the woman he loves. After which, he handed it to her and just smiled at his wife.

After which, he bent down and kissed her forehead again before taking a sip of his coffee. Doing the same, Gabby smiled as she went ahead and enjoyed the coffee that her new fiancé made for her. "So, were we ever going to really run drills last night?" Matt shook his head. "I didn't even start the timer." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before laying her head down on his chest. "I'm just glad that you said yes. I was worried that you were going to say no, and that it would get awkward up there." Turning her head, Gabby smiled as she looked up at the man she loves. "Matt, I would've been okay with a proposal in your office, remember?" Matt agreed with Gabby, as he did remember that. After which, he bent down and kissed her softly. "You deserved more." Gabby smiled.

After all, he gave her everything that she could've ever wanted last night. "And that's exactly what you gave me last night." Matt agreed with Gabby, as he started to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves once more. The woman he's crazy for, and more than happy to finally be engaged to.
