Chapter Three Hundred and Fifty-Nine
Unpacking – Day Two, Part Three
She ended up taking longer than expected in Matt's office, which is why Gabby was so embarrassed as she made her way out of the office; while at the same time, she was making sure to cover up a bit. After all, she still had no idea whether Matt kissed her neck enough to leave a hickey, and that was the last thing that she wanted her mother-in-law to see. She didn't want her to see that she had a hickey, which he son gave to her. Yet that didn't mean that she couldn't tell that her shirt was everywhere, which can only mean that she got a bit frisky with her son. "Have fun?" Not paying attention, it was just then when Gabby realized that she was in the kitchen once more. "Sorry, what did you say Nancy?" Nancy snickered as she looked at her daughter-in-law. "I asked you if you had fun." Looking around, Gabby got a bit confused until she saw what Nancy saw. She saw the hickey on her neck. "Oh god…"
Nancy smiled at her daughter-in-law as she said that, clearly able to see that she was embarrassed at the moment. "Gabby take it easy and just breathe, I know that you love each other; and it makes complete sense that you guys would want to take advantage of any alone time that you can sneak in with each other." Taking a breath, Gabby shook her head. "Buy we aren't alone at the moment, we're with you." Nancy smiled as she heard Gabby say that. "Is everything okay with the both of you?" Gabby nodded. "We were just thinking back to a night we love." Nancy agreed. "Can I ask what night it was?" Gabby snickered. "The night we got engaged." Nancy smiled. "You mean when he proposed to you on top of the fire academy?" Gabby, thinking that her mother-in-law didn't know where he proposed; didn't really listen to what she said and went ahead and told her where her son proposed to her.
"It happened on top of the…."
And only then did she realize what her mother-in-law said, and that she knew where Matt proposed to her. "Wait, how did you know where he proposed to me?" Nancy snickered. "I heard the story once from either Matt or one of your friends, I forget which." Gabby agreed with Nancy as she said that, as that made sense. Of course, someone would share it at some point, she just wishes that they were the one that shared it; as they were the ones who had all of the details of that night. All of the sweet memories, including the very sexy memories of that night. "We uhm…didn't just reminisce over the normal details though." Nancy was confused as she heard Gabby say that, before realizing what she meant. "Oh…" Gabby snickered, agreeing with Nancy. "Yeah, we thought back to that night." Nancy agreed, well aware that she most certainly is not to ask about that night. "Yeah, not even going to bother asking."
Matt agreed with his mother as she said that, because that was something that he appreciated. "I appreciate that mom." Turning around, Gabby was surprised as she heard her husband come out of his office as she thought that he was going to be staying in there for a while. "What are you doing out here? I thought you were staying in your office for a bit?" Matt snickered. "I decided that unpacking was more important, and I know that supper is going to be here soon." Walking past his wife, Matt went to put his hand on her butt and then squeezed it to make her jump. After which, he went ahead and whispered in her ear. "Plus, more time with my mom right now, means more time alone with you in the bath after. Or even in bed." Walking past his wife, Matt made his way over to the box that was on the counter; only to see that it was already empty. "You just finish this one mom?" Nancy agreed, as she just finished it.
"Yes, yes I did just finish that box. Don't worry, I got it all taken care of."
Matt agreed with his mother, before proceeding to undo the box so that it was no longer in the way. After all, it was done, and they no longer needed it to be here. So, he put it on the counter and the proceeded to un-tape it; while at the same time, he turned to look at Gabby who seemed to just be standing there. "Babe? You okay?" Coming to, Gabby looked at Matt. "Sorry, I guess I'm just surprised that you're out here; I thought you were going to work in the office." Matt agreed with Gabby as he walked up to her, before wrapping his arm around her. After which, he moved his hand to her back and kissed her forehead softly. "I want to be out here so that I can help." Gabby agreed with her husband, before cuddling up to him; but that didn't mean that Matt wasn't a bit concerned about his wife. "Hey, how about you go sit down in the living room for a minute okay? I'll get you something quick." Gabby agreed with Matt.
After which, she turned around and proceeded to walk away so that she could go to the living room; at the same time, his mom looked at him. "Is Gabby okay?" Matt shrugged, as he didn't know whether his wife as okay or not. "The truth is, I'm not that sure now that I'm out here; because that was not the reaction that I was expecting to get at all." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that. "Do you want me to give you guys a minute?" Taking a breath, Matt looked at his mom. "Maybe you can do something? I want to know whether the freezer in the garage is cold yet. That's where we put most of the cold stuff." Nancy agreed with her son, before grabbing his hand and smiling at him. "Do you have anything in the car that you haven't gotten out yet?" Biting his lip, Matt thought about it. "Maybe the blankets for the couches. Actually, I'm going to get those." Nancy agreed with her son before looking at Gabby.
"Matt, are you sure that you want to unpack?"
Matt sighed as he turned to look at Gabby as well, clearly able to see just what his mom was looking at. And that would be that Gabby looks a bit frazzled. After which, he let out a sigh. "How about this? There's probably still a bunch of clothes that need to be put away in the nurseries." Grabbing her son's hand, Nancy agreed. "You're doing the right thing, as we need to do this." Matt agreed with his mom, before getting close to her and hugging her; after which, he kissed her cheek. "Thanks for all your help mom." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that. "Maybe tomorrow, you can call Camila and ask her to bring the kids." Matt shook his head. "They'll just get in the way. They're coming on Sunday. Plus, tomorrow is me and Gabby's mystery night." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that. "Dateline?" Matt snickered. "Thank god we have internet TV, makes things a lot easier when I need it." Nancy agreed.
"By the way, I'm going to get my laptop out at supper so that you can set me up with that."
Matt agreed with his mother, as she said that. "Mom, I'll do it another time. I need to set your TV up and stuff, and I need to hang it up onto the wall and you're not using it on your laptop. I got you a Fire Stick." Nancy was confused as she heard her son say that. "What are you talking about?" Matt sighed. "It's a stick where you can put it into the TV, and…" Matt then laughed. "I'll explain it once I have it set up." Nancy agreed with her son as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Listen, I'll call you when supper is here. I'll put the plates out and everything." Nancy then pointed to the table. "Gabby already did it, and she just needs to eat." Matt thought about that, before making his way over to the cabinet to grab some snack bars. "Here, how about you take one too? I think it'll be here soon, but I don't want to take a chance." Nancy agreed with her son, as that was something she needed to do. "Thanks." Matt agreed.
After which, he turned around to walk over to Gabby; meanwhile, Nancy made her way to her home so that she could get a bit more unpacked in there. "Matt, are you going to want it to be just you and Gabby at supper?" Turning to look at Gabby, Matt sighed. "No, I want you there too. But I'll let you know when the food gets here for sure." Nancy agreed with her son, before finally leaving him alone with his wife. Meanwhile, Matt put the snack bar in his pocket; after which, he walked out to the garage to that he could grab one of the blankets. After all, they were going to need one to get comfortable under. That other one that they used last night wasn't big enough, and it most certainly was not warm enough. So, he's going to get one that's perfect for them to use here in Chicago.
Walking back into the house after going to grab the couch blankets in the car (as well as some more of their washroom stuff), Matt took a breath as he knew that Gabby needed him right now; especially since she's yet to talk to him. And that was really concerning him, as she's normally quite talkative; and she's gotten so much better when it comes to her talking to him and making sure that they're on the same page with regards to how she is right now. And based on the way she's acting at the moment, he can just tell that she needs him to be her husband right now; well, technically she's always his wife. But what he means is that he needs her to concentrate on her at the moment, as she needs to talk to him about something. And that's exactly what they're going to do, as he held out a snack bar for Gabby. "Here, you might want a snack." Turning her head, Gabby sighed as that most certainly was true.
"But we're going to have supper soon."
Matt agreed with Gabby as she mentioned that, but he also knew that this is what she needs to do. "Yes, but you still need to eat something." Gabby agreed with her husband, before going to grab the bar so that she can eat it; at the same time, Matt proceeded to sit down next to her with the blanket in his lap. "Here, move close to me." Gabby agreed with her husband, before deciding to get up and moving into his lap; and let's just say that really made Matt smile. After all, there's nothing like the feeling of having Matt close to her. It's what she needs to do at the moment, she needs to cuddle up to her husband and have him hold her, while also slipping her legs in between his. After which, Matt wrapped his arm around her and put his hand on her leg. Turning his head, Matt smiled as he kissed her forehead softly. At the same time, Gabby opened her snack bar and proceeded to take a bite of it. "Oh, that's nice."
Matt agreed with Gabby, as that was exactly what he wanted to hear her say as she took a bite of her snack bar. "I'm glad that you like the bar that I got for you, as I really think that you need it. Now, what's going on baby? You have something on your mind?" Taking a breath, Gabby looked at Matt. "Sorry if I am doing this." Matt agreed with Gabby, before going to rub her back; after which, he pressed his lips to her forehead. "What's going on babe?" Gabby sighed as she thought about what was going on. "I just feel like this is going to be a lot we have to work with. Maybe we should've asked some people to isolate with us." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that makes a lot of sense. "You feel like you need help?" Gabby agreed with her husband, maybe just a bit. But tomorrow." Matt agreed. After which, he turned his head and kissed her forehead softly as they held each other close.
Note to Readers: I'm sorry to do this, but I seem to be having some difficulties when it comes to writing the unpacking storyline. So, I've decided to skip a few days to when they're unpacked. More specifically, I am skipping five days to a certain special day.
