Kneazles and Conversations
Alma had to fight to stifle the snort as he took in the sight presented to him in the living room. Kanda had clearly thrown himself onto the sofa in his rage face down. But the funniest part was not the position of the man - but of his familiar. Mugen had decided that he did not care for his master's sulking and sat on the man's back successfully trapping him in place.
"Mugen, get off"
A silent nope.
"Mugen please. I've stopped my sulking as you so kindly called it. Now get off"
Another silent answer.
"Yes I am angry. Because I have a stubborn cat on my back who won't let me use the bathroom!"
A yowl.
"Alright Kneazle - but I'm not changing the stubborn part" Kanda growled and Alma burst into laughter at the sight of his brother being bullied by the lump of fur. It had been quickly established through many occasions that Mugen could speak with only his master - but the half-conversations made for a very amusing display.
"Mugen get off!" Kanda finally yelled, embarrassed at Alma's presence. Mugen huffed and hopped into Alma's waiting arms who chuckled into the cat's back as Kanda clambered off the sofa and stormed up the stairs.
Once Kanda returned downstairs, Alma had calmed his laughter and treated him with a quick hug.
"You okay Yuu?"
"Yeah, I've calmed down. But I meant what I said." Kanda ran a hand through his hair and Alma sat down, patting the seat next to him.
"I know you do. And Snape and Dumbledore will know too" Alma told him as Kanda leant into his shoulder, suddenly incredibly tired.
Allen and Timothy walked in on Kanda lying on Alma's lap as they both napped. Mugen bounded over to the newcomers and rubbed his head against Allen's shins, meowing happily as the man picked him up.
"I'm guessing that Alma managed to calm the grumps down then?"
Tim sniggered,
"Nah look how proud Mugen is - this was the mastermind's doing"
They both laughed as the cat preened at the praise and Timothy ruffled his fur. Alma woke up at the noise and shushed the two before softly shaking the lump of dark hair in his lap awake.
"Alma? What time is it?" Kanda slurred as he righted himself.
Alma looked over at the wall,
"Just before lunch. Did you guys bump into Lena on the way here?"
Allen and Timothy shook their heads as Mugen jumped onto the floor and into Kanda's lap, purring as the man petted his ears. A hoot could be heard from the bedrooms and Alma cursed under his breath,
"I forgot he was in the dorms. I should take Perseus back to the owlery. He gets lonely without Sadie for company" and headed upstairs, returning with the brown owl in tow. Quickly passing the bird to Timothy as he donned his robe, he took him back and headed out with a dismissive,
"Won't be long".
"What did Dumbledore say?" Kanda asked the remaining pair. Timothy shrugged,
"Tried to pass the blame onto Snape before Allen chewed him out - other than that, no idea. We left not too long after Alma did" he answered.
Allen blushed slightly as Kanda looked at the man surprised. Allen scratched his neck,
"I didn't chew him out"
"- I mean it was a very polite chew out" Tim butted in with a grin,
"I just let him know that it was in his best interests to follow your advice and never lie to us again" Allen finished with a pout. Kanda snorted as Timothy gave a face that clearly screamed 'bullshit' but looked at Allen in fondness. It was times like these that Kanda was glad that he decided to grow closer to the younger man instead of constantly butting heads - though they did still do that at times. And he was also pleased at how undamaged Timothy had managed to grow up to be. Being mostly sheltered from the final battles by Howard and Krory had meant that he had been saved from the worst horrors of what occurred in the final months. Which reminded Kanda of the letter,
"Ah crap!"
The pair jumped,
"What is it?" Allen asked.
Kanda scratched his head,
"I was supposed to ask Dumbles if Lavi and co. could visit - and I ended up shouting at the man instead. Way to go me" he huffed, flopping back into the sofa as Mugen sympathetically butted his hand.
Timothy shrugged,
"Honestly, he might say yes just to apologise to be honest. He did look kinda sad after Allen finished his 'best interests' speech" he grinned at the returning blush on the pale man's face at the term and Kanda grinned along with him.
"Yeah, maybe it's in his 'best interests' to give Harry and co. a helping hand" he replied Timothy guffawed,
"Now you're getting it" and the pair started laughing as Allen chuckled at their banter,
"I thought Kanda was supposed to be the Slytherin Timothy" he snarked and Tim smirked,
"Well I learned from the best" and slapped Kanda's shoulder, jolting him forwards. Mugen yowled at the interference and Tim put his hands up in apology as Kanda and Allen laughed. The knock at the entrance halted the laughter and Allen headed to the door.
"Professor Snape"
Kanda and Timothy turned at Allen's exclamation and, surely enough, the potions professor stood in the doorway, looking unusually awkward.
"Snape" Kanda stood and nodded at the man, "What did he have to say for himself?"
Snape huffed lightly,
"He came around to informing Potter. I think he finally realises that the boy needs the information to prevent more avoidable situations. And he's fine with the both of us being the ones to tell him" he admitted and Kanda breathed a slight sigh of relief.
"So how much did he say we could tell him?" he asked.
Snape fixed him with a stare,
"I said that I would be telling him everything" he said with confidence. Kanda's eyes widened,
"Are you sure? He might end up hating you-"
"No more than he should"
"-but still. Are you okay with this?" Kanda asked, concerned.
Timothy and Allen watched the exchange, perplexed by their lack of context. Mugen interrupted Kanda's panicked thoughts.
"If he wants to, he wants to. And I feel like it's a good idea" the meow translated to Kanda and he looked down at the kneazle which was now staring down the professor.
"Things will go well" the cat confirmed. Kanda exhaled,
"If you think so. Sure Snape, if you want to, we can tell him the whole tale" he informed the man who nodded, a small smile gracing his features which Kanda returned.
"Uh do we get the whole tale?" Timothy asked, gesturing to himself and Allen. Kanda turned to glare at him,
"It's none of your business. The only person who has any right to know is Harry" the man snapped and the trio blinked at the sudden protective tone.
"That's fine, right Timothy?" Allen fixed the boy with his poker smile, making him sweat,
"Uh yeah, whatever you say," before bolting up to his room.
"Tch, that kid. Anyway, do you know how long Lena will be with Trelawney?" Kanda turned back to Snape who took a moment to transition conversation.
"I'm not sure. Though I don't think it would be longer than a few hours. Though she may want her to go back. It'll be a process, getting her used to visions. Especially if she receives any more in the near future." he admitted, catching the concerned glange that passed between the two brothers.
"Now that Sybill has sobered up, your sister will be in safe hands" he reassured them.
Kanda raised an eyebrow,
"How did she sober up so fast?"
"A concoction of potions which basically purged all alcohol from her body" Snape paled slightly at the memory - it had not been a pretty sight. Allen shuddered at the implication.
"Best not to ask the details then" Allen mumbled and Snape nodded in agreement.
"As long as Lena's fine with it, it should be fine" Kanda finally said and Snape excused himself with the excuse of marking,
"Thank you Snape, for helping Lena" Kanda's voice stalled the man at the door. After a moment or two, Snape turned and gave a small smile,
"You're welcome. And call me Severus" he replied before slipping into the corridor, leaving Kanda blinking owlishly after him.
Allen looked between the space where the professor had been and Kanda's frozen form and grinned - this was going to be interesting.
