A.N. — Happy birthday, Mei Hatsume! One of my absolute favorite characters in the series, it's been a shame to see her screen/page time diminish. This drabble is one of the "foundational" ones in this collection, as it's been written for a while and was one of the first ideas that leapt to mind when brainstorming.

108. Mei Hatsume

Mei was a teen mom to hundreds of babies. And, like any set of siblings, some stood out. But the explosive ones were invariably held in highest esteem.

She thought the spark of invention was perfectly symbolized by the detonation of a project in progress. Destroying things to improve upon them was essential, and Mei's creative process was never satisfied with first attempts. Thus a scrapheap of failures spilled from Mei's lab shelves, waiting for her nurturing genius to prod them to success.

One day, Hatsume Industries (and her offspring) would rule the world — if they didn't destroy it first.
