A.N. — May 1st actually had two birthdays, and has been my tendency throughout the collection, the lesser-known character gets shunted to the day before or after. So here is a hero from the first movie who has hero in his name... sort of. I also learned a new word in the course of writing this one.
122. Takahiro
Takahiro felt more bird than man most days.
Fully covered in brown plumage, with wings as large as his body, a beak jutting out of his face and his arms below the elbow transitioning to podotheca tipped by razor-sharp claws... none of that screamed human. He had to wear parachute pants to make room for all the feathers, and wore them only in deference to decency laws. Similarly, his vest was there mainly to hold tools he needed on the job. The headphones, though, were an accessory he'd never willingly part with. They muffled all the inadvertent, insensitive comments.
