Chapter 2

First Day

Akina had slept all day and into the next day from pure exhaustin. Akina yawned as she stepped out of the Hokage home. She wore a red shirt with a black skirt for casual ware since she was heading to train at the hospital to show Tsunade what she could do. Akina ran her hand through her long purple hair.

"Just waking up?" A voice said. Akina turned to see Shikamaru leaning against the wall as if he's waiting on her.

"I slept almost 24 hours but yes." Akina said. Shikamaru stood up straight and walked up to her. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm your escort through the village till you get use to the place. Besides you'll be going on missions with me." Shikamaru said, rubbing the back of his head.

"Well, I need to get to the hospital if you want to show me where that is." Akina said. Shikamaru nodded. Shikamaru and Akina walked towards the hospital.

"Hey Shikamara!" A boy called. Akina and Shikamaru stopped as A boy with a white dog came over with a guy with a hood up and glasses. A young girl dressed in purple with white eyes headed their way.

"Whose the new girl?" The boy said. The dog sniffed her.

"I'm Akina. I just moved here from the Hidden Stone." Akina said. She met Kiba and his dog, Akamaru, Shino, and Hinata.

"Nice to meet you, Akina." Hinata said, shyly.

"What brings you to the Hidden Leaf?" Shino asked.

"Just running from the past." Akina said. The three share a look.

"Don't push her to much. She is not ready to share to much." Shikamaru said. The three shared looks but nod.

"We won't press. Just know you got friends here if you need to talk." Hinata said. Akina smiled.

"I appreciate it. Thank you." Akina said. Akumaru came over and Akina pet him. "We'll catch you two around." Kiba said. Shikamara and Akina waved as they continue walking.

"Ino won't be at the hospital. She's working at her mother's flower shop, but she does help out at the hospital. You'll meet one of Tsunade's students. Her name is Sakura." Shikamara said.

"One of Naruto's team members. He mentioned she was training with Tsunade." Akina said. Shikamara nodded. They arrived at the hospital.

"I have a few things I got to do. I'll see you later after your shift." Shikamaru said. Akina goes to go into the hospital. "Akina." She turned to look at him. "Would you like to do dinner at my house. I think Tsunade is working late."

"I would like that. Thank you." Akina said. Shikamara had talked to his mom and his mom had okayed it to bring her over. He wasn't sure about the girl, but she didn't seem to have any family. Shikamara wanted to make sure she felt welcome with friends and family.

Akina entered the hospital. She looked around not sure where to go.

"Your Akina?" A girls voice came. A girl with pink hair headed her way. "Hi. I'm Sakura. I'm to show you around."

"Nice to meet you. Naruto has mentioned you a lot." Akina said as they walked.

"How's he doing? Lady Tsunade says you know him." Sakura said.

"He's been busy training, but he's getting stronger. He's like a brother to me." Akina said.

"That's good. He should be home in a year." Sakura said as they walked. The hospital was big and Akina thought it be a good place to work when not on Ninja missions.

'Wonder when I'll get my first mission.' Akina thought. She knew not to ask. She would be sent when needed or when Shikamaru was needed. She had medical training so she was sure to go when needed.

"We don't get many injuries and stuff less its a bad mission. We aren't expecting any teams back at the moment. Lady Tsunade is meeting us up with us in her office in here with Shizune." Sakura said.

In Tsunade's office in the hospital. Akina stood over a plate of an almost dead fish. Tsunade stood off to the side to watch her with Sakura. Akina put her hands over the fish and her hands glowed green. It didn't take long for the fish to start flapping around. Tsunade was impressed.

'She is defitenly got me in her. She'll be a great Ninja Medic.' Tsunade thought.

"I think she be a good asscet to help in the hospital." Shizune said.

"I agree." Tsunade said. Akina turned and smiled. "You'll be under Sakura and Shizune's supervision when not on Ninja duties and missions."

"Thank you, my lady." Akina said.

The rest of the day was helping in the hospital where needed. Akina was welcomed nicely.

That night. Akina left the hospital feeling exhausted.

"How did it go?" Shikamaru's voice came. He was standing waitign for her. Akina wondered how long he was going to escort her while here.

"It went good. I'll be working here when not on Missions." Akina said. Shikamaru nodded.

"You ready for dinner?" Shikamaru asked. Akina almost forgot about going to his parents for supper. Her mother was working late since she watched Akina do some medical stuff.

"Yeah. I'm ready." Akina said. Shikamaru led the way to the Nara family home. Sakura had told her that Shikamaru's father was the head of the Nara Clan home. Shikamaru listened as she explained her day. He was happy she was settling in at the village. She already made friends with others.

They arrived at the Nara household. Shikamara opened the door and both entered the home. Smell of food filled Akina's nostrils. It smelled really good. Akina loved to cook for her and her father.

"I'm home." Shikamaru called. A woman with black hair pulled back in a ponytail.

"Oh good. Dinner is ready. You must be Akina. My name is Yoshino, Shikamaru's mom." Yoshino said.

"It's nice to meet you." Akina said.

"Where's father?" Shikamaru asked as they head for the dining room.

"I'm right here." Akina saw Shikamaru looked like his dad except the scar that ran across his face. "Hello Akina. You can call me Shikaku." Akina smiled.

"Let's get eating before the food gets cold." Yoshino said. They all sit at the table. The parents sat and listened to the young ones talk. Shikaku watched his son. It had been awhile since Shikamaru brought a friend home. He heard about the new Ninja tha moved to the Hidden Leaf from others. His wife didn't hesitate when Shikamaru asked if Akina could come over for dinner. Shikaku studied the girl. Her features seemed a little familiar.

"Whose your parents?" Shikaku asked.

"My father was a Medical Ninja from the Hidden Stone. My mother left me shortly after I was born." Akina said.

"Where's you father? Did he come with you?" Yoshino asked.

"He died a week ago before I came here. I'm here to train under the Hokage who was a family friend." Akina said. Shikaku nodded. They ate and Akina asked a few questions.

After dinner. Akina helped Yoshino clean off the table. Shikamaru had disappeared when she came looking for him.

"He's over there." Shikaku said.

"Thank you for having me for supper." Akina said.

"Your welcome. Come over anytime." Yoshiro said. Akina nodded. Akina found Shikamaru setting up a game board. "What game is this?" Shikamaru looked up to see Akina standing in the door.

"Shoji." Shikamaru said.

"I heard of that but never played. Can you teach me? I'm not ready to go home yet." Akina said, coming over and sitting across from Shikamaru. Shikamara nodded and started to explain Shoji. Soon the two were playing. Akina was not able to beat Shikamaru, but Shikamaru noticed she was a fast learner.

It was near midnight when Shikaku could still hear his son and the friend still talking. He came out of his room to yell at them and found them sitting out at the door under the moon sharing missions they did and their childhood. Shikaku couldn't help but smile. The two were sitting close and Akina had a smile on her face. His son even had a smile.

'Hmm. I wonder if this friendship will be more.' Shikaku said as he left the two alone and walked back to his room.
