Fandom could drive people beyond their normal lengths. For Teruo, that meant shooting up with Trigger was deemed acceptable if it meant getting his hands on his favorite idol.
Teruo used his adoration of Pop Step to cope with his low self-esteem over his childish appearance and general weakness; Eel wasn't exactly a quirk in high demand. But by finally getting to interact meaningfully with her, he'd have something to brag about at long last. That tunneling on his goal wound up getting him arrested, but he also got to clutch Pop Step closely. He considered it a worthwhile trade-off.
