A.N. — And here, as promised, comes the captain of the Oki Mariner to close out the month of May. The most popular drabbles for the month were Mandalay... and Mawata Fuwa. Huh? As for June, five of the first 10 days are unclaimed — get requesting! Characters, prompt subjects, genres, whatever.

151. Selkie

Taking Froppy on as an intern was more than just mutant solidarity for Selkie. That played a part, no lie, but more so because few heroes matched Froppy for versatility in the water. Her sheer cuteness also was a deciding factor.

Being a man with leopard seal looks wasn't traditionally considered cute, yet that was what the captain strove for. It didn't supercede his pro duties, but it did influence them. So he let his crew (current and former) frolic around in swimsuits in their downtime if they wanted. Easing their stress now served to sharpen their focus later on.
