A world with quirks means its people are wind up rather quirky. Whether heroes, villains, or somewhere in-between, every BnHA character deserves to have their story told. These are but tiny 100-word snippets of their lives, told one a day, every day, in 2023. Newest chapter: Mina Ashido is a vivacious hero in training. 172. Monika Kaniyashiki (Kaniko)

A.N. — Today is canon and head-canon fusing, which was necessary for this Pride Month write. It gave me an opportunity to play fast and loose with a character again (and make a bit of an adult joke). Happy birthday (a day early) to Monika Kaniyashiki, who prefers Kaniko over her mouthful of a name.

172. Monika Kaniyashiki/Kaniko

Kaniko was a jokester at heart. One of her favorite ice-breakers was humorous and informative: "My hair's for snipping but my legs were made for scissoring!" When the recipient of the one-liner inevitably blanched or blushed, she'd explain her Scissors quirk. If they seemed interested, she'd explain the second part in more detail.

Despite her levity (or perhaps because of it), Kaniko excelled as an undercover detective. She was comfortable in her own body, so blending into crowds wasn't a problem. Being taken seriously was, though. But Kaniko's angry face got laughs, too, and laughter was always welcome.
