A.N. — Looking back at the previous chapter, I overdid it on the hyphenated words in both the drabble and the author's note. So today I will try to not use a single one (oops, I failed). Tomorrow starts a nearly two week stretch of alternating bigger name/bit player chapters. Today, then, is another relative nobody. It also marks the final named police force member.

208. Gori

Nobody was willing to talk back to a gorilla.

Gori was actually fair and level-headed, a valuable asset for a member of the force. But the implicit threat of bulging muscles under dress clothes could not be ignored, especially by prisoners. Even the unspoken insinuation of being roughed up by the planet's most physically imposing primate loosened tongues quite effectively.

That Gori was equally efficient at getting confessions out of repentant detainees like Gentle Criminal and recalcitrant reprobates like Kyudai Garaki spoke to his deftness at splashing his weight around only when necessary. Gori truly was the department's silverback.
