Hello there... You scared the crap out of me
Years ago, I wrote a Fanfiction called Naruto Chronicles: Legend of Ashimaru. Well since then I recently revised my original work and thought of remaking it. I hope you really like this new take on my original fanfiction.
Prologue
About 5,000 miles from Kohoha lies the land of shadows. A place where the most corrupt ninja go for black market purchases, or for information from some former government. A pub in the middle of town is owned by one person. Kenji Sakumoto is a former member of the Kohoha special guard but fled with some top-secret information. He erased all information they would have on him. It was like he never existed.
While wiping a glass recently used by a customer, he lights a cigarette. It was a particularly dull day, normally you had missing nin coming in to down a glass of cheap saki, and tell him their problems and he would write it down with a notepad he had hidden under the table. You would also have kunoichi gathering up knock-off designer kunai pouches to sell to unsuspecting kunoichi. Suddenly a cloaked figure enters the establishment. He walks up to Kenji and throws a sack of money on the table in front of him.
"Can I help you?" Kenji said, his eyes still on the glass he was wiping down.
"Yes, I was just curious about some information you may have?" The man said, with a raspy evil sounding voice.
"I know many things to be honest. In what way can I give you information?" Kenji responds, putting his cigarette out.
"I heard you have info on some sort of island that houses a mighty relic." The man said, throwing another huge bag of money on the table.
Kenji walked to the door, and would lock it and put up a sign that said "Closed, be back soon." Kenji would motion the cloaked figure to follow him. The two men would enter the back, where Kenji would press a button behind a portrait of a naked woman. That would open up a door, that leads to a stairwell. They then would proceed down the flight of stairs. They soon would enter a room containing file cabinets, a lot of file cabinets.
"So what in particular are you seeking? I have hundreds if not thousands of different files pertaining to Islands that are no longer here or were destroyed during great ninja conflicts?"
"Like I said before, it has a very old relic and from what I heard was scrubbed from the record books by the first Hokage, years ago." The cloaked figure said.
It took him a bit, but he remembered one article he stole. A very old-looking map that was in an old ancient-looking box that Old Man Sarutobi had in his position that Kenji added to his collection. He kept that in another part of the room though. He would slide open a part of a wall and there was a box, he then opened the box to reveal an old, tattered-looking map. He slowly opened it and compared it to a newer map he had on hand. It looked the same but it showed something different, there was a small island off the coast located in Blossom Country.
"Sadly, that's all I can give you at the moment," Kenji said, lighting another cigarette. "Hope that can at least get you what you need"
"Thank you, and for giving me this map, when I destroy the world, I will spare you and your establishment." The cloaked figure said, before disappearing into the abyss.
He stood there, and without hesitation he would head back up the stairs, he would then unlock the door and open his pub again. And it was business as usual. To him, giving someone world-ending information was just another buck in his pocket.
A boat soon would arrive at the destination with the cloaked figure at the helm. A notorious plan was hatching in his head. While bypassing the wave's equivalent of Anbu, was not as tricky as one would think, he must have snuck past a few rookies in the squad. He soon would walk around the island, noting that there were no signs of life whatsoever. He would notice ancient writing on some of the rocks around the island.
He would then come to the outside of a giant-looking cave, on the front is some sort of stone door blocking the entranceway. He began to press his ear on the stone and would begin to knock on the stone in the hope to hear if it was hollow. After knocking around it a few times, sure enough, success.
He would then press on some exploding tags that he brought with him. He would channel some of his chakra into the seals and then a loud explosion would emanate from the rock. After the smoke would clear, a crack would form on the rock. The rock would split after one quick strike from the man. He would then enter the cave.
He would start to walk down a long hallway, torches would then light on their own in two straight lines, on the left and right of him. He would walk down for what felt like an hour until he would come to a huge area. All around him were runes scribbled on the stone walls. Images littered all over the cave walls as well, depicting a huge phoenix enveloping the world.
One image has a man standing in front of the phoenix and another image has the same man holding an object resembling an egg. The man soon spotted in the middle of the room, a shrine with something levitating and glowing black. It looked like an egg, the man soon made his way to the shrine and was about to grab the stone, when something would stop his advancement to the object.
"Excuse me, but can I help you?" The voice said, walking towards the citadel. The man saw a young man walking up to him. He had a sword strapped to his side, he wore a blue tank top with a black undershirt. He had brown pants on, and black boots. He had long pink hair and steel blue eyes.
"Why yes you can, you see I'm shopping for eggs and it just so happens this egg is perfect for an omelet I'm trying to cook up."
The young man knew what his motive was, he wasn't naive to it, this isn't his first rodeo. He had his hand on the handle of his katana and was ready to do whatever it took to thwart anyone trying to steal the egg.
"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news doc, but this egg is not some chicken egg. This egg could very well bring down the entire world should it ever hatch." The young man said, looking back at the cloaked man. "It's my job to protect it, and also deter anyone who would want to take it. So I'm gonna kindly ask you to kick rocks."
"You may be here to protect it, but I'm here to steal it. Now I'm not leaving without that egg."
"Then you will have to kill me first." The young man said, drawing his sword.
"No problem kid, your funeral." The figure said, vanishing in an instant. The guardian of the egg, stood ready, waiting for a sign of the figure to attack. The figure swung a blade he had in his hand, and the young guardian blocked it with his sword.
"SHADOW STYLE, DEMON CLONE JUTSU!" He said as a multitude of clones appeared. One clone would strike the guardian from the side, two more would attack him from the bottom and one would punch him across the face. The young man would then fly through hand signs.
"PHOENIX STYLE, FLAME RHAPSODY JUTSU!" He screamed as a torrent of flames would flow from his mouth, eliminating the entire army of clones. After that attack, he sensed the man's chakra behind him and turned without hesitation. He saw the man start to glow black, his eyes began to glow as well, he then began to fly through hand signs with lightning speed.
As the ground began to shake violently, the guardian knew that there was no way he could defeat the man in front of him, so before the inevitable would occur, he shot some of his own chakras into the stone, so it would be easy to trace it.
"SHADOW STYLE, EARTH FISSURE JUTSU!" The cloaked figure screamed, as the entire ground exploded, sending the young man flying against the wall, destroying the cave floor entirely. The cloaked man laughed as he walked over to the remains of the cave floor and plucked the egg, it was still in one piece. He observed the young man on the floor, bloody and knocked out. "Maybe you should have trained harder, now on to phase two of my plan." He said, disappearing into the void yet again.
After a while, the young man slowly dug himself out of the remains of the cave. He was battered and bruised but was alright. He located his sword and tried to salvage what he could of the sacred area. He saw that the stone was gone, but he picked up on its signature. He would gather up some supplies and be focused on one thing and one thing only, finding the stone. But as soon as he would leave the cave to start his journey, he felt the chakra signature of the stone was gone. He thought of only one reason, the man in the cloak must of put the stone in a person.
"Damn it, it looks like I'm starting from scratch." He said, putting his sword to his side, and a bag on his back. "It seems like the signature ends more towards the northwest. Onward I go!" He says as his journey has begun.
