Chapter 3 - Integration

A/N - Forgot to mention to age all of the kids by 5 years. Bill would be 16 years old, Charlie 14, Percy 11, Fred and George are 8.

RandynotSavage2 and GG Leroy - Both of you kinda said the same thing and I agree! It would be too much to involve Voldemort and the Covenant. However I was inspired by another work - Post-Apocalyptic Potter from a Parallel Universe by burnable This is a great read if you haven't read it yet. It's a MCU/Marvel x HP crossover. It can be a bit fluffy at certain points. I just have this scene in my head where the UNSC Infinity makes a jump to right before the Battle of Hogwarts and the team utterly decimates ole' Voldie and his Death Eaters. But I like the idea of Harry Potter and Co somehow crossing dimensions/timelines to save their Variants from their tragedies.

Time Skip Reach - 2 Months Post Rescue - 2 Months Left Before Project Spartan

It had been about 2 months since the refugees from Magical Britain had arrived in the future. To say it was a culture shock would be a massive understatement. They had to refrain from using magic for the first month or so whilst Dr. Halsey and her fellow scientists could work around the shielding for their electronics. Now for Lily, Severus, Dumbledore and sometimes James it was easier to understand the muggle ways of doing things. Lily, being a muggleborn, had already taught James basics back in their time, but the UNSC insisted on a crash course for everyone in UEG history before they could venture out into the public space. The purebloods, though, had a rough few months ahead of them. Dr. Halsey had temporarily banned Arthur Weasley from asking her questions regarding the modern world and instead had assigned a gaggle of unfortunate interns to answer his non stop questions. They were not happy with her for this decision of course but her reasoning was "If you can handle this man, you can handle anything." While for some that was a shit answer but she was their boss and not someone to have to talk to on a bad day. The Malfoys, Sirius and Remus fared slightly better, at least in regards to not asking too many questions and just accepting the facts given to them. The Malfoys, at least Lucius had perked up at being a potential ambassador for the refugees to the UEG, while Narcissa was a comfortable stay at home wife back in 1981 decided that she should find something to do. Near the end of the crash course she decided to travel back to Earth to search for the ancient ruins of the magical world, in hopes of finding the lost magical arts. Dr. Halsey would accompany her from time to time and 2 formed a working relationship in that regard. Xenophilius will also be spending time back on Earth after the introductory course; he had spoken up about potentially finding any remaining traces of the magical creatures of this timeline. He was sure that while the larger creatures may have been eliminated by the UN, that the smaller, maybe more elusive creatures could be found.

Severus, Lily and Pandora would begin taking this era's version of a GCSE and apply to further studies in Chemistry, Applied Engineering and Technology, and Galactic Ecology respectively. Their courses would take them multiple years to complete as they would also split their time in assisting Dr. Halsey with research to combine magic and technology in the newly revived field of Technomancy.

Molly Weasley had opted to be the de-facto parent in charge, especially as the group of 6 year olds had started their preliminary courses before moving onto the Spartan Program. Admiral Hood had also offered to sponsor her any of her older children at any of the UNSC Naval Academies should they wish to join the military. Molly didn't fully approve but it seemed that Bill was keen on it once he had also finished his GCSE. Charlie was a bit more of an enigma but had considered either enlisting and starting from the bottom or moving onto Uni to study Xenobiology. He had caught sight of some of the more native alien animal species on Reach and was very excited by it. Percy had expressed interest in Political Science, which at first Molly was thankful that one of her many kids had chosen a safer path but to her dismay would be considering Political Science taught at one of the Naval Academies. Thankfully he was still young but for an 11 year old he was fairly self-aware and highly ambitious. For now Fred and George remain the blissfully happy-go-lucky troublemakers that they are but Molly was not disillusioned with the high possibility that they too would end up joining whatever fight was coming their way.

The 3 Marauders paths had also finally diverged here. James, feeling the legacy of his family bear down on his shoulders, decided to never leave his son to fight alone. He would take Admiral Hood's offer to attend basic training, complete his GCSEs, and then apply for Officer Candidate School right out of the bat as he was a bit too old to attend a naval academy. Dan and Emma Granger had decided the same for the most part, both attending basic to get back into shape and to pass physical evaluations. While Hood was not able to grant them ranks back yet as military strategy had changed in the last half milenia he would sponsor their further education and officer candidacy. While Dan would be general officer for any ship he was assigned to, Emma would continue her training and wanted to serve as a pilot for the UNSC. The Pelicans that she saw had reignited an old fire in her heart that she never was quite able to put out. Sirius decided to enlist, having to admit that he was not cut out to be an officer early on, he had felt he could fight and fight well. Remus was Remus and no matter what anyone told him, he refused to accept handouts from anyone. He had wanted to pay his own way, as he had felt that he owed the UNSC and Dr. Halsey too much to keep accepting charity. His first full month into the future and he had no pains and aches from the onset of his upcoming transformation. He and Dr. Halsey had agreed that he would be locked behind a secure room on the day that would be Earth's full moon and Reach's full moon to test out her theory. It seemed that she was right as the curse was bound to Luna and Reach's full moon did nothing. To Remus it was the biggest gift anyone could ever give him, so when approached with all sorts of offers he had turned them all down, feeling the need to re-earn his way in this new society. He had opted to work as a handyman, putting money aside to attend university to study Military Engineering, and to eventually join the UNSC as a civilian consultant, much like Dr. Halsey.

Frank Longbottom had also decided to follow the same path as James, even attending the same classes as him. He had grown up a few years older than James but because of the old familial alliances with the Potter family, he felt it was his duty to ensure that both he and James would return home to their respective wives at the end of all this. Alice also went into research right off the bat, having to follow a more experimental route than attending university, she would work on some out of the box solutions for everyday problems they were facing.

The seven six year olds had probably the most hectic schedule out of their large family group. The mornings and early afternoons were filled with lessons from Diana on things most 6 year olds at the time would know, if not a little more. In the late afternoons after an hour-long recess and lunch, magical lessons were given by Professors Dumbledore and McGonagall. Though spellcasting was not an option regardless of the no magic order, as the children could not properly control their magic enough, it was safer to teach them theory and history. Both professors had decided to remain as they were, magical educators, as they had deemed the education of the 7 to be paramount. The children were fairly well behaved outside of a few instances where someone would experience a strong emotion and wild magic leaked into the air. One of those instances was witnessed by Dr. Halsey as at the time, she was checking in on her future Spartans. During recess at a local park, Harry and Ron had caught an older boy picking on the girls for well…being girls. They had somehow managed to turn the boy's clothes into girl's clothes and his hair a very bright pink in their anger. It had taken a powerful reversal charm from Dumbledore and an Obliviation from McGonagall to cover up this little incident. Dr. Halsey just knew that she had made the right call to rescue these kids. The children were at some level on par with John from Eridanus II, though not quite as well rounded as he was, there were some aspects of each one that put them marginally ahead in that respective attribute. Harry had proven to be the group leader, he was a charismatic and kind boy for his age, he was a bit smaller in size than John by maybe at least 2 inches. Ron had an undying loyalty to Harry and his friends but with that undying loyalty was a hot head that could lead him and friend to trouble. It was something that Dr. Halsey and Chief Mendez would have to straighten out or at least temper it. Hermione was a smart girl for her age group, while she lacked the outright intelligence of someone like Dr. Halsey was an avid reader and researcher, keen to bring to her friends new information about the new world they called home. Halsey had earmarked her to be her personal bodyguard and eventual protege. Ginny, like her twin brother Ron was fiercely protective of their friend group and was probably the scrappiest out of all them. Neville was a shy boy but he had almost a sixth sense into the emotions of others, Dumbledore had called this a very early sign of a prodigal legilimancer. Draco was Harry's friend group rival, the two brought out the best of each other in whatever they were competing in, but not only was he Harry's rival, he was the heart of the group, pushing everyone to their absolute best no matter what they would do. In some ways each brought something different to the table, and Dr. Halsey could see that in the future they would compliment each other well as Spartans of the UNSC.

During the first 2 month post time travel adventure Dr. Halsey immediately began work on key magical processes with Severus, Lily, Pandora and occasional Remus. The first thing they had started to produce were Blood Replenishing Potions. According to her research, the Blood Replenishing Potion could restore all lost blood in a human body within a period of 2 to 3 hours. Of course if too much had been lost and the body had started to fail, it wouldn't save a dying man's life so the combat appearances would be limited if at all. After preliminary research into the ingredients that would go into the potion, both Severus and Dr. Halsey theorized that they could create a small carryable tablet to be placed underneath the tongue that could serve as a more modern way to administer the drug. The efficacy was not as high as hoped, turning a 2 to 3 hour recovery time to maybe a 4 to 5 hour period. However if a Marine who had been shot, immediately popped a tablet, the regenerative effects would kick in and possibly give them more time to be either field patched or be carried to extraction. The same was also done for the Skele-gro potion. If turned into tablet form, it supercharged the bone's restorative processes, turning breaks and fractures that would take weeks to heal to just a few days. The 2 of them though had decided it was for the best to leave out the bone regrowing capabilities for the time being as they had felt it would be too much too soon for this world. Admiral Hood and Parangosky had immediately sought out military engineering applications as soon as everyone was acclimated. Currently they had theorized that certain ancient runes could be inscribed on weapons and equipment to lighten it, a slighter feather charm to reduce weight. To avoid suspicion and confusion it was recommended to them by Pandora and Dumbledore that it would be best to lighten loads to about 80% of their normal weight. Again it was stressed by the overly excitable Admirals that it would need to take baby steps to ensure long term success. Though it didn't seem to register in their minds, they had brainstormed a bevy of ideas that could potentially be used. Dr. Halsey had argued that the application of Technomancy for the time behind should be directed towards the Spartan Program, as the wizards and witches had children to protect. In a way it also made sense to test any new inventions and ideas on a smaller group first before making its way to the general military and eventually the general populace. Dr. Halsey had also approached Dumbledore and Severus on ways to improve the flash clones being prepared for the kids they were planning to abduct. Dumbledore wanted to do nothing with it, stating that it was against his every being to separate children from their families. However Severus suggested that he could possibly enchant an item that could wipe the memories of the kids from their parents' minds. He wasn't too excited at the prospect but it was better than subjecting the parents to watching their "kids" die from an unknown neurological disease that flash cloning full humans tended to do. In the end any option taken would make for a rough night's sleep for the rest of their lives.

The Admirals and Dr. Halsey had opted that the 7 wizards and witches be taught in a separate but whole approach with the rest of the candidates. While contact with their families would be allowed, it would be similar to the eventual magical boarding school that they would have attended anyways in their own timeline, except for the fact that it would be year round with small weekend breaks here and there. They would have taken lessons with the other candidates but they had also scheduled time with the professors to continue their magical lessons and started to teach Diana further magical history to help with their earlier lessons. They would bunk in the same building but in separate rooms on the other side as the other kids as well. They would know their family names but will only respond to their first names and serial numbers and or call signs if they should earn them. No punches will be pulled when it comes to the more cruel and grueling periods of their education, Chief Mendez had made a point of it when meeting the parents. They had put up a massive fight, even drawing a wand at him, but he assured them that at the end of the day, what he puts them through will make them come out stronger than steel and better people for it. It was accepted begrudgingly but the weekend visits were granted as a result of this argument, should their children wish to visit home briefly the kids would be the ones asking for it, not the parents unless it was an emergency. The parents had been told that while in the program the 7 kids will be told to never speak about their families outside of their team and only when it was completely private. Again, they were not happy but understood that the kids who were conscripted do not have that luxury. While they were forced to distance themselves from their progeny they too had their own programs to pursue. They reasoned that, whatever sacrifices they made today, would be a promise for a better tomorrow. Everything they were doing and all the programs that they had signed up with was to ensure that whatever fight may come their way, in some way or shape would be with their kids, wherever they knew it or not.

A/N - Another chapter done! It's a shorter chapter but serves to set up everyone's paths in future chapters. Next chapter we will see the start of the Spartan Training Program and the future Master Chief will be introduced as he and Harry meet for the first time. For the most part, here on out will mainly focus on the eventual Fire Team Mystic. I may update again this week depending on how I feel after work. 4 Chapters in a span of a week is not the norm, but I am going to keep pushing through while I have this bug and before I hit a wall .
