Olga was the baptized name of the mysterious woman under the Secret Church. At first glance, one could infer she has quite a past due to the prominent burnt scar on the right side of her lips and jaw that goes downwards to her neck.
Even within the ranks of such a discrete organization, her past was unknown.
Olga was an anomaly within the Secret Church. She has memorized and studied the bible but she herself never seemed to be the most faithful to the Lord. Her skills as a holy exorcist are second to none within the organization, dubbing her the strongest holy exorcist. However, even within the ranks of the Secret Church, the Lord seemed to favor her despite her rather apathetic nature.
Of course, there was more to this that meets the eye.
That was simply a part of her mysterious yet alluring nature.
Her footsteps were silent and light despite her tall figure. Her long braided black hair sways behind her to the rhythm of her motion. Her eyes were sharp but a dulled teal color, implications of a tale from long ago. The features of the native Japanese were ingrained in her appearance as she possesses the same light skin and thin lips as the majority of her race. She wore a cream-colored trench coat to cover her dark exorcist attire to avoid drawing attention from the people on the streets, though they were already staring due to the alarming scar on her face.
Despite that flaw, Olga was otherwise considered an attractive woman in her early 30s.
She carries herself with an air of antiquity and obedience, befitting of her role as a holy woman. The people who walked past the woman often gawked at her cold and collected appearance, not knowing the true nature of such an ugly woman.
Olga was in a familiar but at the same time unfamiliar place. Japan was her homeland but she did not feel the sense of belonging she should have there. As an exorcist under the church, she's traveled all over the globe but never to Japan as there's that other group known as Jujutsu Sorcerer's that guarded the country from the beings called cursed spirits.
The Secret Church and Jujutsu Sorcerers work similarly while their motives differ. To put it simply, the church's teachings was to cleanse evil of all kinds without discrimination, while the jujutsu sorcerers' on the other hand, are exterminators that cull pests that have caused problems.
It was an interesting thought for Olga as she followed neither principles but her own.
In this short trip of her's, Olga was going to investigate the rumors surrounding such an interesting person. She may not have come there under the church's influence but she did have to put in a request on behalf of them. It was to maintain a professional relationship between the two organizations but Olga would've preferred to do whatever she pleased.
Even so, the existence of the holy exorcists are rare and few in between. Those Jujutsu higher-ups would be quacking in their boots because of the arrival of the ambassador of the Secret Church, an organization which was more secretive compared to the jujutsu community.
"Hmm," Olga hummed as she paused in her step after coming across a dilapidated shrine gate.
It was a curious thing to come across as she was in the middle of walking along a rural path where nothing but trees laid before her. Originally, Olga was supposed to be picked up by a jujutsu manager from the airport, but she chose to do away with that idea, making the journey to the Tokyo School of Jujutsu herself. There, she would meet with the principal of the school to negotiate terms and agreement with him.
Not much is known about the Secret Church but, underestimating such an unknown group's capabilities would be poor judgment on the Jujutsu higher-ups.
Then again, all of this was Olga's doing. The Secret Church had no intervention in such matters as Olga only required them to put in a request for her. The contents for the reason of her visit was not further elaborated on aside from the fact that she was going to arrive with a preposition.
Olga had free reign to act as she deemed fit as a holy exorcist operated on their own judgment and faith.
As Olga stood there and contemplated over the peculiar presence of the old shrine gate, a gust of wind blew past her, lifting the stray strands of her hair in the direction of the new path. It was as if the gate had beckoned for her to enter, and so she did.
Olga didn't think much of the strange entrance and walked into it, knowing that the entity guarding the school had welcomed her into their abode.
Who was she to refuse their goodwill?
From the moment she stepped foot into that new path, the eyes of the unknown had fallen onto her, observing her every move with great intent. Olga is indifferent to their gazes. Curses and humans alike often stared at her, so she was no stranger to the sensation.
This trail was filled with centuries-old infrastructure with the steady stone steps, staying strong under her weight. It was well-maintained despite the growing mold, and there were hardly any cracks on the stone. As she ventured deeper into this path, the traditional infrastructure came into view. Tall buildings with the old architectural designs of the Edo period were hard to miss as their pristine walls and stylised roofing only added significant value to their grandeur.
Not a bad touch, she thought.
It was definitely different to what she was typically used to.
Finally, the path leads to a clearing of traditional buildings, signaling she had reached the school grounds. Yet, her track was far from over as she now needed to find the principal.
Olga navigates her way through the area until she encounters a peculiar set of youths walking about the school compounds.
"Hello, it's a fine day, isn't it?" She says trying to sound polite but without a smile on her face to reflect sincerity.
A girl with dark green hair and sharp hazel eyes covered by glasses speaks up first as a covered spear was hanging perpendicular to her back.
"Asking about the weather isn't why you are here. So what are you here for, lady?" She said in a stern voice.
A panda was also present along with a boy with bleached hair while half of his face was covered by his uniform.
The panda immediately turns to the girl and cautions her. "Maki, isn't that rude to say to an older woman?"
But Olga didn't mind.
"I'm here because I have business with the principal of this school. I am in need of directions as it's my first time being here." she answers honestly. "I don't suppose you could point me the way?"
The girl examines Olga's appearance, her gaze lingers on the scar on her face before moving to the cross necklace on her chest.
She takes a deep breath before returning her gaze to meet Olga's eyes. "Follow me,"
Olga nodded and followed the direction of the teenagers while her friends tread behind her.
It was a silent walk until the panda started to open its mouth.
"Ms… ? How do I address you," he asked.
"You can call me Olga."
"Right then, Ms Olga—"
The girl interjects the bear. "Panda! It's awkward enough without the small talk, cut it out." She chastises him.
Olga was amused.
"It's alright. Panda, was it? I don't mind the conversation starter, and besides, I get the feeling we'll be working with each other for a while,"
The girl was still annoyed at her bear friend but she breathed a sigh, turning her attention back to Olga.
"We're here, Ms Olga." She announced, stopping in her tracks. She points to the ground level building with the decorated Buddhist statues at the entrance. "The principal is in there,"
"Ah, thank you very much. May the Lord bless you," Olga says before turning her back to face them as she continues to walk towards the building.
The girl was momentarily stunned by her last words. She knew Olga meant God.
But God, really?
As she enters the building, the doors immediately shut behind her. The principal, she believed, stood before her, knitting a sort of cute doll as he turned to gaze at her with an expectant look.
Olga simply got closer and waited for him to acknowledge her presence.
"Olga-san, your arrival here is sudden," he began.
Olga simply stands before him, noticing how his face contorts. "Do you want to hear my request?"
"Explain yourself. I doubt the Secret Church would send someone to waste time in my school."
"But they did. The church has no involvement in this matter. It is my own personal request made through them that has brought me here." With a flick of her wrist, through a magician's trick, a thick folder of documents appeared in her hand.
It also made the principal raise his brows.
"I want to monitor the curse vessel. He's caught my eye, you see," Olga answered honestly. "I heard that many Japanese men are very methodical so I've prepared the paperwork and verified documents about my identity. Please note, the information I've presented reflects my time in the church. As for my past, it is… strictly confidential,"
He takes the yellow file from her, with a calculating gaze. Opening it, to browse through the documents she had prepared. "So Olga is your baptised name? It says here that you took an oath to sever all connections prior to entering the church. Does that mean you discarded your own name? Because it seems to me, you're not exactly a foreigner,"
Olga may be the name of a westerner but for this woman who bears that name, her ethnicity was Japanese.
As he continued flipping through the documents, Olga stood there with an empty expression, thinking about the next words she was going to say. "You're right, I am no foreigner, but I can't quite call myself a local either. You don't need to worry about my background, anything about my past stays in the past, so there will be no future discrepancy relating to me because of it,"
Though her fellow country men were known to be meticulous in their work, a document was not enough to vouch for Olga.
"I am sorry, Ms Olga, but without sufficient information about you. I cannot let you—" He paused for a moment as his eyes landed on a particular section on the page he was in.
Highest honors, Grand Holy Exorcist…
"Ms Olga, correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't that make you the Secret Church's—?"
Olga simply curved the ends of her lips.
She wasn't wrong when she said she came prepared.
"The Lord seemed to favor me, as such, who am I to not accept such a title? In truth, I didn't come here on behalf of the church. I have a personal agenda, and that is to observe the boy. You have my word when I say I'll keep my interference to a minimum if you let me do that. Furthermore, I find that I have skills that would be of some use to the jujutsu sorcerers," Olga said in an even tone.
"Ms Olga, if that is your only request then, are you willing to hear my own personal request for you?"
Olga nodded her head with understanding. "I don't believe there's a reason not to,"
The door swings open and white hair bounces in the air as a tall man casually waltzes into the place.
"Sensei~! Yuji's well-adjusted to his new home. If everything goes well, they'll be meeting with the third first-year student tomorrow. And— Who's this?" The man stops right beside Olga.
The principal grimaces at the white-haired man's appearance. "Olga, this is Gojo Satoru. Satoru, this is Olga. She's from the Secret Church,"
Satoru mutters a prolonged 'o' as if coming to a realization as he stares at her cross necklace.
"Since when were the Secret Church open to sending their own here?" He gets closer to Olga, even crossing into her comfort zone. With a hand rubbing his chin, he scans her appearance despite wearing a pitch black blindfold.
Olga knew of this man. Gojo Satoru is well-known even outside the Jujutsu circle, mainly because he was the strongest sorcerer, and by default even stronger than her. However, Olga's presence in either society was generally a secret.
"I know you." Olga says, completely ignoring his question. She moves away from him, to slightly widen the distance between them. "It's nice to meet you, Gojo Satoru." She forced a smile.
"Hmm," He scans her. "you're a very interesting woman. You seem to be suppressing all your curse energy," he said in a matter of fact voice.
Her arms now akimbo, she looked at Satoru with a hint of amusement. "It's considered a sin to use the same power as the 'devil' so most holy exorcists suppress their curse energy in order to abide by this code,"
Holy exorcists have a special set of rules they must follow despite their independence within the Secret Church. But unlike most holy exorcists, Olga seals away most of her curse energy, when only the requirement was to seal away a quarter of it.
The church does have an understanding of how curse spirits came about from human emotions albeit mixed in with religious connotations. That's why, the sin of a curse spirit is the same as the sin of the human since without people, curse spirits won't exist.
"A sin? Does the Secret Church have something against Jujutsu Sorcerers?" Satoru said tauntingly.
Olga shook her head. "It's a difference in belief. Frankly, preference-wise, I try to minimise my usage on curse energy,"
A powerful clap dissolved the growing tension between Satoru and Olga as the principal interrupted them.
"Satoru," He called in a warning tone. " and Olga, about your preposition. I will get back to you, but this matter will involve the higher-ups. As you know, you being from the Secret Church and all, your involvement in this is quite unprecedented,"
"I understand, sir. I'll leave you with those documents," She turns her back to face them. "I'll return tomorrow, same time,"
As Olga begins to walk out of the room, the two men behind her glanced at each other, with Satoru raising a brow at his former mentor.
"So who exactly is that woman?" He questions the principal.
He breathes in a deep sigh. "Honestly, I don't know, Satoru… but there was one thing that I was able to make sense of during my conversation with that woman, she is not to be trusted… yet. So keep an eye on her."
The principal flips through the pages again, showing the significant one-liner that'll draw the attention of the whimful sorcerer to Olga's being.
…and Executioner of the Secret Church.
"It seems that interesting things keeps on happening!" Satoru says with a smirk playing on his lips.
