Chapter 3

authors note : A brucas storyline i could of imagine especially in season 5. With Lindsey gone and Lucas left at the alter. Brooke wants a family taking care of Angie for that time really made her wants and needs clear. And of course the unresolved leyton. Thank you my readers.

I don't know if i'm ever going to feel that way again.

But I don't know if i should.

I think the worst part of it all

Wasn't losing him. It was losing me.

"He's being there for me. Just like i was there for you. Comforting you while you were heartbroken over Lindsey and Lucas's engagement. You cried on my shoulder. We burned a copy of his novel.? I didn't imagine that."

"I'm on you're side." Brooke reassured her.

The expression on Peyton's face softened. "You're serious about raising a child on you're own.?" She asked.

"I've never wanted anything more. Being a mom. Is a job and title i will take seriously." Brooke replied.

"Okay. How could i not be team Brooke." Peyton replied.

"You're my best friend." Brooke reassured her.

...

Days Later

A simple private exchange of rings at the court house.

Brooke and Lucas decided it would be best to do it on a day that was quiet and when the people closest to them had things to do and wouldn't be involved.

They showed up in the same car. Lucas dressed in black and Brooke in a white dress.

They stood across from each other. Said words others had written and slipped the rings on their hands. Then sighed the papers.

They sealed the union with a kiss pictures snapped.

Once they left the court house.

Brooke engulfed him in a hug. Lucas hugged her back smiling.

"Thank you." Brooke said. When they pulled apart.

"You're welcome. You show up. I know i can count on you."

"That means more then you know." Brooke added in.

The expression on Lucas's face softened.

"What are friends for." Lucas replied.

...

Days Later

The next to Lucas saw Brooke she gave him a brief overview of why she needed him around so soon.

She had been in contact with a social worker and adoption attorney. They had child in mind to be placed with her.

But first they needed to meet with Brooke and when they saw Brooke with Lucas. And Brooke made it clear he wasn't here for support but because he was her husband their judgemental glares shifted.

"How long have the two of you been married.?" The adoption attorney asked.

"It was recent but honestly it's a long time coming." Brooke said.

"Yes she couldn't be more right. A brief relationship in high school we broke up and became close friends. At some point i realized the woman of my dreams was right there." Lucas proclaimed.

"I have my sucessful fashion line. More money then i will ever need."

"I set my own schedule with running my store. Which means adjusting my rountine to fit the child's would be easy." Brooke explained.

"As a writer i can do that anywhere but when i do have to go into the office. I'll make sure this child isn't an afterthought. Work can wait. Being a present hands on dad matters more then any paycheck." Lucas proclaimed.

"I'm prepared for the good days bad days. In between. To love and nurture. Protect. I've wanted this for a long time." Brooke stated matter of fact.

"We will grow our family at some point. All together i imagine us. Having two boys and a girl. My heart soars at the thought of a mini Brooke Davis running around." Lucas proclaimed.

The expression on Brooke's face softened. As she looked to him.

She showed a copy of their wedding license and a photo from their court house service.

"The parents had their parental rights removed."

"They had one son who they used as a weapon against each other."

"He's 4. He has peaches and cream complexion. Chocolate brown eyes and black hair." The social worker announced.

"He's lacked rules stability love and affection. I doubt he's been to moved around alot." The social worker added.

Brooke swallowed hard. "Can i see a picture?" She asked.

The social worker nodded. Going into her file.

And handed Brooke a small snapshot.

Brooke smiled showing it to Lucas.

"Is there anything we should know before he get's here.?" Lucas asked.

"He's shy and cautious. He won't really engage unless he's encouraged. I think the three of you will get along. As long as you're patient and understanding that this is a process that takes time for all involved especially a newly married couple." The social worker explained.
