Hours Later
In the morning
When Lucas re appeared in the hallway. It was with a mug of coffee.
Brooke soon appeared sneaking out of Ethan's room.
He smiled at the sight of her. "Rough night.?" He asked. Handing her the mug of coffee.
"Thanks and yes. As if my bed head and bags under my eyes aren't obvious. You are a heavy sleeper. Meanwhile i need at least half an hour before i actually fall asleep." Brooke proclaimed.
"Tossing and turning. Stealing pillows. That checks out."
"What happened with Ethan last night that i missed.?" Lucas asked.
"He was tossing and turning. Crying and yelling. And he wouldn't tell me why. I think he was having nightmares." Brooke explained.
The expression on Lucas's face softened. "I'll take the night shift tonight. Next time wake me up. We're supposed to be doing this together." He replied.
"I'll keep that in mind. Something smells good." Brooke said.
"I made breakfast. Waffles. Eggs. Sausage links. There's juice and milk in the fridge. Since he's sleeping now. We could hang out."
"Unless you have to get to the store." Lucas suggested.
"Rachel is running it for me until everything with the adoption is final. Hanging out with you isn't the worst way to spend time." Brooke replied.
"Thanks i guess." Lucas replied. Leading the way towards the kitchen.
"You know you talk in you're sleep." Lucas announced. Once they were in the kitchen.
Brooke stared at him wide eyed. "I may of heard of that before. Nothing too humilating right.?" She asked.
"Not at all." Lucas replied. As they sat down beside each other.
Awhile Later
"I thought we could use a family day. We could get a library card and you can take as many books as you want and sometimes they have fun events for kids here." Lucas explained on the ride over.
"Then we are thinking a beach day is in order. The weather is so nice and we could have lunch together on a big blanket."
"Would you like that.?" Brooke asked. Looking to the back seat. Where Ethan was safely secured in his car seat.
"Can we make sandcastles and go in the water. And watch the sunset.?" Ethan asked.
"It's not a real beach trip if you don't. We'll do that and anything else you want to do." Brooke replied.
...
Days Later
After a boat ride. Peyton used her key to open the front door.
She locked eyes on a woman in the entryway.
"Does Larry Sawyer still live here.?" Peyton asked.
"You're Peyton. Larry's told me so much about you. I'm Claudia." The woman introduced herself.
"Dad. Are you here!" Peyton called out.
Ignoring the woman.
"Peyton. Honey. I'm never not happy to see you. It's just i normally have some notice." Larry proclaimed. Entering the living room.
"How long are staying with us Peyton? I'm going to run to the store and make sure there is enough of everything."
"Make yourself at home." Claudia proclaimed.
When she was out of the door. Peyton glared at her father.
"She's alot more comfortable then a regular friend is supposed to be. And why are you telling her about me.?" Peyton asked.
The expression on Larry's face softened. "I've been meaning to talk to you for months now i just couldn't figure out how to bring it up."
"It's all so sensitive. Given everything that happened with you're mom. I thought that part of my life was over. Sharing my life with someone." Larry began to explain.
"We've been dating for a year now." Larry added in.
"Wow. Okay. I should go. I'm clearly in the way here." Peyton replied.
