Stay

Chapter 44

I remember everything

You let go. Just like always.

I asked Karen to come over and watch the kids. It was one of her off days so she came right over. I was relieved because how we left things didn't sit right with me.

You not replying to my calls or texts is making me more freaked out then I'm letting on.

Why is there a video of you yelling at Peyton at the cafe. You've made it a point to keep you're distance from her these past few years.

What is bringing all this on now? Brooke thought to herself as she drove around town looking for him.

Getting this feeling deep within that. He was in trouble. That he needed her.

And she wouldn't go until she found him. Brooke decided.

...

Lucas found himself writing to Brooke and his children.

A letter explaining why he had to take this drastic step.

He was sorry for what this would cause but too much had happened for things to stay as they are.

Lucas left the note on the bed. He left knowing he saw nowhere else to go but in this direction.

They needed to be free of her and what she represented.

(Damn it!) Lucas sighed deeply. Putting his gun away how had Brooke found him.

He watched as she parked in the street and started to work over to his car.

(Open the door Lucas! Talk to me please!) Brooke pleaded.

(It's too late Brooke. This has to happen now.) Lucas replied.

(Stop. Whatever you are planning. Needs to not happen.) Brooke said.

(You don't understand. She won't leave. Me. This town.)

(I don't care about her. I care about you.) Brooke added in.

Lucas got out his car and looked to her.

(My dreams are telling me what she is planning. I won't let do it.) Lucas proclaimed.

Brooke reached out to him. (Come home with me. It's going to be okay. Luke please.)

(Look at me. Our kids need you. I need you. Let her go.) Brooke pleaded. The emotion in her voice thick.

Her eyes wide when she saw the gun he had hidden on himself.
