Chapter 47
It was the ringing of his cellphone that brought Lucas back into reality. He picked it up right away when he saw who it was.
(Hey E.) Lucas said. Lucas listened as his son spoke. His heart heavy and thoughts dark. But he knew. He couldn't let it consume him.
Lucas sighed deeply. (I love you son. I'll see you soon.) Lucas said.
Lucas took the gun out of his car and threw it over the bridge. Watching as the water took it away.
He got back in his car and drove back to Brooke 's home.
Once he got there he parked in the street.
He went up the stairs and knocked on the door that quickly opened.
Brooke rushed towards him. Engulfing him. In a hug.
Lucas hugged her back. (I'm sorry for putting you through this today.)
(I need help.) Lucas admitted. The emotion in his voice thick.
Brooke nodded her head in agreement.
(Dad you're home.) Ethan said. Racing over to his father in the entryway.
(We missed you.) He stated matter fact.
(I missed you more.) Brenda announced.
(No I did.) Brendan added in.
