Stay

Chapter 52

Author's note : When it comes to Peyton he has this blind spot. He's got a strong hero complex. Peyton wants the version of Lucas she remembers but person doesn't exist anymore. Brooke 's feelings her anger frustration confusion. Are beyond valid.

Love me and giving chances even when there are no chances to give.

Days Later

(Lucas is living tomorrow. I'm relieved. We get to go back to our own seperate lives.)

(It's better this way.) Brooke said.

(Have this bag of cookies while I talk. Lately it's all I can eat.) Rachel said.

She finished half a glass of milk then looked to Brooke.

(I'm giving you perspective. Nothing more.)

(As someone who has self destructed at various points in my life.)

(There is a sense of comfort and routine and knowing what to expect.)

(Getting everything you want means you get to be happy fulfilled and at peace.)

(There's a fear that comes with that. Of losing everything. Especially when it comes to people you love.) Rachel proclaimed.

...

(Are we going to get you see you alot?) Ethan asked.

(You are. Just like before. You'll have you're time with me and you're time with you're mom.)

(I know it was scary and you had alot of questions when I left the first time but hopefully now you see that nothing changes. We're a family whether we live together or not.) Lucas proclaimed.

(I know. And I'll the best care of momma and the twins.) Ethan replied.

(You are the greatest son a father could have.) Lucas stated matter of fact.

(I love you dad.) Ethan said. Hugging him tightly.

His stuff was packed in the car. The twins didn't want him to go. They were too upset to say goodbye. Which he understood and wouldn't push them to do.

He hadn't expected to see Brooke before he left but he was glad he was going to.

Especially with how things were left during their last encounter.

(I shouldn't of said any of that. I'm such an ass.)

(I'm sorry.) Lucas said.

(I don't love you anymore. It's too much Lucas.)

(Maybe I need to let you go.) Brooke confessed.

As she went inside and closed the door behind him.

Lucas felt his heart sink.

And for the first time in a long time he was beginning to realize he had all he could ever want and need. Just letting it slip through his fingers because of pride guilt and the lack of want to fight for it.

But he left anyway.

...

Hours Later

In the morning

(Tell me how school goes. You three had a nice break but it's time to go back.)

(Waffles. Bacon. Scrambled eggs. A nice delicious breakfast to start the day.) Brooke said.

Momma can't I go to the store with you instead.? I don't want to go to school.) Brenda admitted at the kitchen table.

The expression on Brooke's face softened. As she went over to her daughter.

(What's happening sweetheart. I thought you liked school.?) Brooke asked.

(They don't put us in the same classes. And we don't see each other until it's time to go home.) Brendan added in.

(I just don't like it.) Brenda replied.

As Brooke dropped off her sons she turned and looked to Brenda.

She was small in stature. Wore purple eye glasses and had HCM she got from her dad.

(Honey we talked about this. It's time to go back to school.) Brooke proclaimed.

Brenda soon erupted in an emotional outburst.

I don't want to go! You can't make me go!)

(Momma I want to stay with you!) Brenda exclaimed.
