Chapter 59

Later on that night

When I got there. It was his car parked in the driveway. Otherwise it was empty.

Which told me he must have cleared out the restaurant for the night. Aside from keeping the kitchen staff there later than they were used to. He wasn't one to just throw money around. Unless he had a good reason for it.

He wanted to make an impression. Impress me.

After a short elevator ride up. I was there.

The rooftop was stunning and dark besides the endless sky you had all around you.

I walked until I got to a candle lit table.

Lucas walked over to me. Smiling shyly.

(I have forgotten how amazing you look all formal. I'm glad I'm not overdressed.) Brooke said.

(Me. This view is nothing compared to how stunning and breath taking you are.) Lucas replied.

Once they were seated a waiter brought out two plates. Placing one in front of Lucas the other in front of Brooke.

(I know what you like. And I hope you enjoy it.) Lucas said.

Brooke uncovered her plate and saw pasta carbonara with other delicious sides.

Lucas had chicken parmesan.

In their glasses wine.

Lucas lifted his glass. Brooke lifted hers as well.

(What are we toasting too?) Brooke asked.

Lucas looked her over in her lavender dress with black heels.

That dimpled from that still made him weak.

(The present. Our fresh start.) Lucas said.

(A reunion of the Scotts. A powerful couple.) Brooke added in.

And with that they spent the night making conversation and letting themselves dream of a life in the future for themselves and the family they were raising.

The couple ate dessert while looking at the view.

(In this moment I'm happier than I've been in a long time.) Lucas admitted.

(I'm even happier and more hopeful then I have been in years.) Brooke proclaimed.

Lucas kissed her gently. Brooke kissed him back.

The two soon broke apart. Brooke gazing up at him.

(I missed you. I missed us.) Brooke proclaimed.

(We're going to get it right this time. We know ourselves and what the other needs better now.) Lucas replied.

(I don't know why he likes these smoothies so much.)

(He has you on late night junk food runs.) Rachel added in.

(Anything for you and our son. This will probably be our one and only time experiencing this. And I want it to be special for you.) Mouth replied.

Peyton watched from her car as Rachel drank the smoothie. A satisfied grin went across her face.

it was time for Rachel to pay for never being on my side. Peyton thought to herself.

hours after

In the morning

(I got this letter from my mom.) Ethan announced. Looking to his parents across from where he was seated at the d dining room table.

Brooke and Lucas looked to each other then back at their son.

(I'm confused. I thought momma was you're momma?) Brendan asked.

(How come Ethan has two mommas?) Brenda asked.

(The two of you have school to get too. I'll drop them off then come right back.) Brooke announced.

Lucas took ahold of the envelope that held the letter.

(You should make sure you have everything packed and ready for school. Especially you're lunch.) Lucas instructed.

(She wants me to meet with her. I thought they forgot about me. That they didn't love me. But it's all there. They want a fresh start.) Ethan announced.

As he left the kitchen and went to double check his things.

Lucas took out the letter and read it. He didn't recognize the handwriting. He read it word for word. This woman even included pictures.

Lucas left the envelope with the letter for Brooke to read. While he took Ethan to school.

When he returned. Brooke was pacing in the the entryway. Clutching the envelope.

(He was taken from their custody. This woman is painting the situation as some mistake or misunderstanding.)

(She just decided to drop herself back into our son's life and acts like that is okay or acceptable.)

(She wants to meet him. Let's meet with her instead.)

(If she was such a loving caring mom and the dad was around. Why did Ethan get placed with us at all?) Brooke questioned.
