Never Take a Pirate for Grant'd! - or 'So, I guess I have to fill up for Grant, heh?' (Castlevania Netflix Grant Danasty!SI, Lite Gamer)

Waking up today was perhaps the worst day of my life.

The first thing I knew was that the bed I was resting on wasn't mine. The room wasn't mine, the broken mirror and the flickering candle on the bedside weren't mine and the chilling wind cracking against the window was not common from back home.

Blinking, I pushed myself out of the bed, glad that I was wearing pants… and boots… and also an open jacket with nothing under it- I am going to fucking die if I go outside with just this little.

I tried to remember what happened, how I ended up here, but my brain couldn't pick up anything. In fact, the more I thought about it, the more I felt like I had been kidnapped. And possibly given a dress up while unconscious.

I could only shudder in dread at that possibility, but I didn't let the fear keep me bound. I had to find out where I was and… And as I left the bed, I was struck with another reason to be quite alarmed.

A 'holographic screen' popped up in front of me, giving me a greater understanding of how fucked I was at the moment.

Holy fucking shit, I am Goddamn Grant Danasty.

The news struck me as hard as a rock did to the only window of the room, making me jump as I stared at the rock itself before turning to the cause of the attack. A loud roar left me tense and fucking scared.

Jesus Christ, why the hell am I here?!

Before my eyes, a monstrous beast clawed its way on the room and bared its teeth to me. He was clearly angry- and fucking hungry. Right as it prepared to jump me, I reached for something I had seen leaning on the door, a sheathed sword. The scabbard came off fast and the cutlass that felt so familiar to my hands was unleashed just in time to strike back at the ferocious demon.

I felt dread just as I got a clean hit on the bastard, remembering that some of these monsters here couldn't be killed through traditional means. I expected it to get up and force me to run, but I was pleasantly surprised as I saw the beast burn in a light coat of flames.

Surprised, but understanding that the sword had something unique. And that something was a small detail that was firmly engraved on its hilt. A cross. The material of the hilt was also unique- wood that felt so smooth to the touch-

Obtained 'Sanctified Cutlass' - ATK + 5!

"Well, ain't that convenient?" I muttered calmly, mesmerized by the sword and how light it felt to raise and shift… before getting reminded by numerous screaming coming all around that normally these bastards came in packs.

Gritting my teeth and tightening the grip I had over the sword, I rushed downstairs to start helping. The sight I was presented with explained why most of the screaming came away from the house and not within. I was introduced to three monsters currently devouring a family of four. The husband had been completely mauled, his wife was soon to follow and… the kids were not screaming and their bodies were unmoving.

Fuck!

The closest demon, the one taking care of the woman's still body, noticed me and tried to attack me. The cutlass stabbed into its skull and killed it instantly.

Congratulations! You leveled up!

Not the best moment for this!

The other two fiends screeched and rushed at me, trying to overwhelm me. I shifted on the left, letting the two crash on the wall behind me and then I cut them to pieces. Once again, I was greeted with a Level up screen.

Congratulations! You leveled up!

I don't need this. I need to- to kill the rest. The job wasn't done and, as I walked towards the door, I felt my mind finally clocking in with the fact I wasn't freezing up despite the lacking outfit I was wearing. Was this part of the Game's logic? Was I somehow invulnerable to the cold?

Shocking, I know, but I took it as a boon in this situation. As I left through the door, I was greeted by a true massacre. A few farmers had taken their pitchforks, but nothing was enough to kill off the beasts of hell. The screaming had long subsided, leaving only silence between the beastly noises of creatures feasting on flesh. Was there anyone left alive in this small village?

I wasn't given the chance to tense up in shock as the beasts had all smelled that I was still around. I tried to move away, but the monsters had me soon encircled, looking eager to attack me and put an end on me. Turning me into another corpse to devour.

I just wasn't in the mood to agree to that demise. I was frightened by the pain because, let's be honest here, I couldn't parkour my way out of trouble and there were too many of those to expect to not be injured by this.

I had a single hope about it and that was that leveling up restored my help. Turns out it did. What it didn't? Heal up the lingering pain. Twelve awkward murders later and I was standing in a circle of blood. Most from the monsters, the rest from me despite having no wounds on me.

Oh, and the puke. I had to vomit a bit after I was done. The sight of legit dead people, scary bastards ready to play the xylophone with my ribs after eating up the flesh attached to it, and the pain I had to go through.

By the end of it. I felt my mind was a mess.

Congratulations! You leveled up x4!

I stood up, cleaning up some of the vomit off my chin and looking around. This time, there was true quiet. There was that graveyard silence that was well-deserved for the lack of life around. I took this chance to look around, to see the brutality perpetrated all around and I was disgusted by all of this.

I also thought of what was really going on as this didn't feel like the game timeline. Too realistic and these monsters felt more like… those from the Animated Series of the game. I am in Castlevania right now, it was 1476 and Dracula declared war on the world.

One may think the bloodsucker went full retard out of senility, but the bastard had lost his wife to corrupt church-morons last year- they burned her as a witch because she was using herbs to heal people. I would have found it reasonable had it been her using legit magic but…

Fuck, now we have an insane vampire, aided by bored vampires (plus an ambitious cunt of a vampire) in taking over the world. A suicidal mission, regardless of their powers, but one that was already taking a toll on civilians that had nothing to do with this shit.

After burning the faces that I could find of the corpses on my soul, I turned to the ugly construct that stood quite near to the village. Dracula's Castle was nearby.

I could run, I really could, but at this point I was deep in it. If I didn't help, there was a chance more people were going to die like that. If I didn't try to speedrun this… shit was going to hit the fan really fast.

I wasn't sure how deep in the timeline I was right now, where Trevor, Sypha and Alucard were, and if I was going to find big trouble in the form of the many vampires recruited by Dracula, but I knew I had a duty towards the people that had no shit on what happened with Lisa Tepes.

So, mustering my courage, I ventured the path towards the Castle, knowing that it was going to soon leave its current premises if I didn't catch up to it quickly. The journey up ahead was quite steep, there's no doubt in my mind but…

I am not going to let an angsty vampire kill innocent people for the sake of ill-planned revenge.
