So, my level up system is either 'limited in a permanent way' or 'limited early on' as I would have expected to be granted the means to decide what stats to increase. That was how I saw this Level Up as.

Sure, maybe I was missing some mysterious secret feature that allowed me to switch from auto-allocation to manual-allocation, but for now I decided to take it easy as… I realized that the plot had yet to unfold.

I wasn't sure how much of a grace period I got, but a quick look at the papers tied to the district confirmed that no scary monster had attacked the city just yet. That and the fact that Usagi had yet to make any Sailor friends. And she hadn't met Luna.

This entire mess was one that I wasn't sure how I was supposed to handle in the long run. Technically speaking, the game gave me a huge advantage to eventually be strong enough to make the difference, but there were so many variables to keep an eye on when it comes to grinding.

Such as being a normal kid with a loving set of parents that would worry if I just started to get a 'buffer' body. At the same time, however, I considered how I was supposed to level up as I didn't get any other mundane Quests until I started to think about going through some exercise to train up my stats while sitting for lessons.

I guess that's how I am spending the afternoon once I am done with the homework.

Still, as I went through classes, I realized one thing about Shingo I didn't expect from the kid. I always pegged him as the social child that was good with male friends. I was soon shocked to see how many tended to ignore me during breaks during pauses.

Who didn't do this? A certain young girl that went by Kayama Mika.

Brown hair tied in a ponytail, blue sky eyes and a deep passion for doll-making. The girl was the perfect example of a girly girl in the 90s. Very shy, but quite outgoing towards those she deemed her friends. And Shingo was her only friend despite the girls flocking at her side to see the many pretty dolls she was capable of producing with ease and quickly.

Worry not, I perfectly acted as Shingo would around her, a completely clumsy and awkward kid trying to hide away his crush from the crush herself- except I just sucked at being a social kid with other kids being that I was an adult in truth.

Not the best position to be in, but I suppose I was managing. Another thing I noticed was that… I was at Elementary school so I was pretty much golden when it came to homework and securing good grades.

I wasn't planning to just ace all tests, but I was going to set myself a good percentage to have happy parents while also not getting them on my back to understand how I suddenly became a genius.

Plus, I had to appear as a reliable helper to Usagi if I wanted to coach her in doing her homework better- being a smartass would just make me detestable in her eyes.

After classes were over, I was walking back home and going around with Mika in tow. We were making the way together since our houses were quite close to each other, and the girl was… really happy today.

"Mom found a nice cloth to make pretty lilac dresses. I was thinking of making a sailor outfit but… I can't think of a proper subject," Mika remarked and I slowly nodded. "What do you think, Tsukino-kun?"

"Well," I said, taking a moment to ponder about it. "How about Donald Duck?"

The girl tilted her head to the side. "Who's that?"

"It's one of the characters from Disney. He is a friend of Mickey Mouse."

"...Who?"

I had to frown at this point. "Kayama-chan, have you ever seen a Disney Movie?"

"No…? Is it something new or-"

"It's the cartoon ones, like Peter Pan, Cinderella or, as I brought up, Mickey Mouse."

"I heard of those names but… Mama is always busy so I never got the chance to ask for those," Mika admitted, soon looking quite intrigued. "Are they good?"

I smiled and, mostly out of a personal duty to give any poor kid the chance to learn about good Disney stuff, I walked her to the local VHS-seller and got her a copy of the Prince and the Pauper. She had a VHS player so she could just go back home and watch the movie once she was free to do that.

"Is it good?"

I nodded.

"Nothing scary and creepy?"

"It's a movie for kids by the Americans, Mika. It's not scary and creepy."

She was holding the VHS tightly to her chest at this point. "I trust you, but I will hate you if you lied to me."

"I will take that hate on me then, because I know I am right."

Soon we split as we got to the point where she had to cross the street to get home and… I was 3k Yen lighter due to this moment of kindness. I know all things come around and I got confirmation of this when I was going through my homework as the Game notified me of something quite amusing.

Disney Magic at work.

I swiftly was done with the homework and, with Usagi out for a sleepover to a friend's house, I was pretty much sure today wasn't where I had to worry for any Sailor Moon-related surprises.

I switched to a jumpsuit, told mom I was going out to train for the football's selections for this year (turns out that Shingo is a believer of the ball game as I was at this age) and I started going through the exercises the quest demanded from me.

I found a park with a spot where one could go through a single kilometer by crossing a fairly big bridge over a small river-like lake under it. Right as I started going for the running exercise first, I was greeted by an interesting development.

You have run for 1 Km, get +5 SP.

Oh?

I did it five more times, and I managed to increase my SP bar by 25 points.

The other two exercises instead helped increase the HP bar and each increased the bar by +2, until I had gained roughly 60 points to add to the count.

With the exercises over, I also got another level up with the Daily Quest completed.

By the time I was done, it had gotten slightly dark. Not to the point of expecting dangers roaming the streets, but enough to start getting back home because dinner was soon to be served. And I needed a fucking shower.

Stretching a bit, I started to make my way back home, drinking from the water bottle I had brought with me for the occasion. I was a bit thirsty, but I stopped at roughly half the bottle before putting it back in my bag.

Everything was quiet, there were still people around- I felt an idiot to expect something bad to happen as Luna wasn't anywhere close to Usagi and the situation didn't present a chance for the cat to just come around and stumble on Usagi anytime soon.

However, I have to say that the butterfly effect is utter bullshit and I felt my face fall when I saw something coming rushing towards me at full sprint. Something small, something dark-furred and bleeding- but also something chased by three scary-looking rat-like monsters.

The feline entity, which I recognized at this point as Luna, stumbled before she could get to me, panicking as the small monsters were getting her and-

Well, I wasn't exactly defenseless, but I didn't expect the plot to hit me like this. The rats were still scary as shit, but right as they tried to attack the downed kitty, I just used the element of surprise to stomp and kick the bastards to death.

An ugly sight for sure, but it quickly took care of the stupid threat of the demonic rats for good.

Each rat gave a total of 5 EXP each, thus making it 15 and then the Quest gave me 50, so I had 65 EXP points out of this experience-

And a dying cat that needed some attention as she was bleeding on the sidewalk. I didn't hesitate to pick her up and bolt back home. We were close enough to make it, and I was talking nervously at the silent Luna that everything was going to be fine and all of that, genuinely worried that it could end up poorly if I didn't move fast.

All the while I was busy getting her to mom to patch her up, I could see the Game showing me how the cat was listening and… appreciating my talking to keep her awake.

"M-Mom!" I exclaimed from the front door, pushing the door close behind me as I rushed for the kitchen as the woman turned to see me.

"Shingo, what's- Oh dear."

She saw the cat, which I carefully set on the kitchen's table. "She got hurt by some stray dogs."

"S-Stray dogs? Are you alright-"

"I am fine, mom. I got them to leave with a pipe I found nearby but- she is going to make it right?"

I had to be quite excessive with the panic, even more than I was as I had to appear as a kid frightened to death of that possibility. The woman nodded and calmed me down as she went to pick all she needed to stabilize Luna's injuries.

I stood around to help, mom trying and failing to get me off the case but… I eventually went to take a shower when the woman confirmed the cat was fine and asleep and that she would heal up properly on her own.

I felt immense relief at that. Last thing I needed was for some bullshit development I wasn't responsible for to ruin the plot of the entire show. Luna's death would be just that.

So, I went to shower, had dinner with my parents where dad was told what happened, and mom then helped me move the cat in a makeshift bed just by my nightstand. With Luna still asleep, I spent the rest of my awake hours keeping an eye on her and… I fell asleep.

While unconscious, I could feel something fuzzy and warm had relocated right near my face, and I woke up to find Luna resting on half my pillow, eyes open and quietly watching me as I opened mine to her presence.

"Morning Neko-chan," I mumbled quietly and Luna silently leaned in to nuzzle her head against my head, purring a bit.

I chuckled a bit. "You're welcome Neko-chan, but you shouldn't be out of bed because you are recovering from that nasty encounter with… odd rats."

She tensed up a bit but I merely sighed as I shifted away to properly get off the bed.

"It's… alright. I think. I mean, I have read plenty of manga and seen enough shows that there's something big happening and maybe you can even talk," I remarked while not looking at her. "But I will not push it. You know, maybe you're on a mission or something and that's stopping you from divulging too much too quickly to someone you just met or…" I stood up and shrugged. "Or I am, as usual, overthinking it and you're just a normal cat finding itself in a crazy situation."

I walked out of the door, unaware that Luna was giving me the weirdest look possible as she found herself in quite the conundrum to face.

Things were only going to get stranger from this point onward.
