Knightly Gamer 2 - or 'How I became a Chaotic Piece in a big scheme' (Knighthood Webcomic Gamer!SI)

Command Room. A room meant to, you know, command things around.

I expected to find something in here but, if I have to be honest, perhaps I was looking too deep into it. I mean, sure, the place is pretty much ruined and there was no doubt most machines were in bad shape, but that didn't stop me from believing I could find something useful in there.

Yes and no. I found something useful, but not the kind of 'useful' I was looking for. Rather than get directions to follow to get the fuck out of there, I found a few papers that had survived the mold and humidity all around.

It took me a moment to get the content I could get out of the incomplete documents in my brain, but the gist was: people tried to harness Chaos 'in the name of the Greater Good', someone took it too far and ignored plenty of red flags, Chaos went nutty and unstable, and this is what happened to the structure.

No survivors, only me waking up here with no recollection of what brought me here and gave me the Game's powers.

…This is not good. I expected much more and what I got left me with more questions than answers.

Still, I was relieved to find a command terminal that was still functional to an extent, just so I could turn on an old emergency generator that had been inactive for long and that had enough to technically last for a few years of uninterrupted action.

It activated a few energy-fueled doors, pretty much opening the facility for me to further explore and, possibly, also freeing some of the monsters that didn't get the chance to get out until now.

I would love it if it had been just a way out and spared me what was going to be a deeper exploration into a dangerous dungeon. A technological dungeon at that.

Whining wasn't going to fix things but, at the very least, I had a feeling that I should be facing any big issues in the long-run. As I moved out of the command room, I was greeted by four gooey monsters and-

Nothing that a few well-placed hits couldn't deal with. Still, something about these monsters didn't feel right. I knew that it was because of the experiment and all of that, but the real concern to me wasn't how they came to be… but how the hell were they still lurking around.

It's clear they needed something to sustain themselves, so it was possible that, before I came about, these monsters had to have done something to stop their hunger. Did they hibernate? Can they hibernate?

The questions were piling up a bit, but my little focus at the moment was a precise spot on the map that I needed to check if it may have some goodies- an armory in this decaying structure may not be a fully-stocked place with weaponry worthy of the Doom Guy, but it should have some equipment that could assist me in this very situation.

More monsters, more awkward fighting as the tube I was using was in no good shape to keep on going for long.

The path to the armory was now fully clear, allowing me to enter the large room and check what was left inside it. A first glance led me to see several emptied caches and numerous weapon lockers now barren of any content they may have previously held.

A scowl formed on my lips at the sight, but I refrained from cussing right as I saw something that got my attention. Among the few armored skeletons on the ground, one was glowing in a similar way to the one that gave me the weaker 'Observe'-like power that allowed me to see the names and the levels of my enemies.

I walked up to the dead guy, or chick, and reached out before their boney hand just suddenly squeezed hard at my wrist and- no vision, just a lot of fire suddenly erupting from their body and clasping at my arm but… not burning it.

I shrieked out of panic, but I felt no pain. Only… warmth. Of the good kind. I waited a moment and soon I was looking at a notification window detailing a new skill's acquisition.

"It's not cheap," I remarked, yet I managed to form a fireball in my hands before… dispelling it. "But it's a flexible attack."

Right as I said this, I spotted something being held tight to one of the skeletons' chest. It was… a scabbard with a weapon still sheathed inside it. I crouched to pick it up, the skeleton offering no resistance as I slipped it out of its grip and gave a look at the blade itself.

It was a longsword. Very heavy but, overall, a good weapon compared to the one I had.

It was a bit of a difficult weapon to use as I had to rely on both my hands to hold it compared to the tube. Since I had many deaths in Dark Souls, I decided to just use it only if I was facing a slow enemy.

The Metal Tube would have to do for the time being until I got my hands on something that I could wield with a single hand and with a higher damage output. I couldn't find much else inside the armory, but I could say what I got was enough to make me somewhat glad I made this trip.

But with this out of the way, there was still a long path to what looked to be an exit to this nightmare to walk. There were going to be more monsters along the way, more obstacles and, hopefully, more stuff to get to further elevate my chances of survival. All in all, I wasn't expecting to deal with anything bad but-

I forced my body on the side, barely dodging a sneak attack from behind.

How long did this thing stalk me?!

It was bigger than the Mutt I fought a while back, and it was standing on two legs.

Oh boy.

The beast had huge claws, screeching angrily as it snapped its gaze at me, barring its sharp teeth before rushing at my ass. I mustered a fireball.

The monster didn't expect to get a burning sandwich to munch upon, but it wasn't enough to kill it- it still was enough to stun it for long enough for me to get a few more hits in.

First, by hitting the beast on the chin, causing it to clutch its jaw with one of its claws.

Now, I was quite close to finishing it too, but I made a major mistake that would pretty much define my next strategies with dangerous opponents- just because they are weak, that doesn't mean they are not going to lash out with greater might.

The powerful roar it let out stunned me in surprise as I thought I had brought it close enough to death to not have to hear that, but in a last ditch effort, I was given a taste of what I have been so cautious to dodge up to this very moment.

Pain. Pure and utter pain.

The unharmed claw just zeroed to my left arm and cut into it, three large gashes burning as blood erupted from the large injury I got. It was painful and the beast looked delighted at the bloodcurdling scream I let out but… two can play this game.

I felt adrenaline shot to the roof due to the agony and I hurled the metal tube towards it, slamming it into its skull.

That… should have been good. The Level Up restored my HP, and my wounds were magically healed at that. No gashes, not much blood but the one left on the tattered shirt I was wearing and… no.

I was not good.

I was crouching down on the ground, gritting my teeth as I felt the pain had not vanished. It was there, hollowed but still present as my brain failed to accept I was just fine now. I remained put for a while, pushing back on the unpleasant feeling until it had subsided and allowed me to resume my steps.

Still, some of that pain remained and I couldn't shake it off for a while as I started to be more paranoid on getting hit if that was how easily I could get killed- regardless of what the body said, if I got hurt by something, then the pain stayed behind to haunt me for as long as it needed.

Maybe I could use some sort of painkillers in the future- something that really was meant to heal a normal living being, but for now I was back to just wander around in the hope of finding the exit door of this place…

Unaware that my blood had awakened something that had been slumbering for many centuries now.

?, several floors below where MC is…

Within the shroud of darkness itself, a lone entity that towered much of the structures set to contain them shuddered as their closed eyes slowly opened.

A pair of dark-scleras with yellow slitted eyes that shattered the shadows and slowly saw their owner recollect what was going on and what had awakened them.

A purr rumbled from their chest to their throat, more bits of their body glowing in pure gold as what was left of their power came to them and… she smiled at the fact she found something interesting for once.

"I smell powerful blood~."

Whoa, calm down, lady. You're a bit 'too big' for someone like the MC. Oh? You can alter your form to suit your needs? Well… shit.
