That stench. Those noises. He knew it all too well. Rtas could tell. He had faced these vile beasts before. He had seen what they were capable of, especially in large numbers. So many deaths he had witnessed, and nothing he could have done to prevent them.
The young Sangheili warrior activated his trusted Energy Sword, eyeing the entrance with extreme caution.
There were times when it haunted him. Haunted him to the point where he was unable to sleep at night. Were the deaths of his comrades in vain? Could he have done more to avenge them? He could not find the answer.
But now, things will change. Now was the time for him to finally confront these demonic beings again.
And perhaps this encounter will help put him to rest, if only temporarily.
"I am still confused as to how these things managed to board your ship, Shipmaster," his companion commented.
Ah, he had already forgotten. He was not alone in this.
Rtas turned to glance at the young girl beside him, before focusing his eyes back to the door. Those abominations were aware of their presence in the control room, judging by the constant growls and snarls coming from outside.
"These parasites are not to be trifled with. The warriors under my command were careless," Rtas replied, his calm voice sounding emotionless. The sound of his companion brandishing her blade caught his attention, but he made no move to see.
"Then I sincerely hope you will improve your security next time," she said. "Now that it has come to this, let us see if you can keep up with Roukanken. I will not hold back."
Did she take him for a fool? This individual was making fun of him.
Rtas chuckled right when the entrance was forced open, revealing the deformed bodies of his allies.
Allies? Not anymore.
"You would be surprised, Konpaku Youmu. Do try to keep up."
