When he'd first moved into his new apartment, Ryo had considered it ideal for a single man. Plenty of space for him to stretch out and relax, enough room to have friends over without it feeling cramped, and even a guest bedroom for when his aunt and uncle visited.

That had lasted no more than a couple of weeks, because right after he'd started his new position at the two-seven he'd impulsively decided to foster a young orphan. Right away, his spacious apartment had become cluttered with all the things an energetic, growing boy needed. There were toys everywhere, piles of laundry forever awaiting his attention, sticky marks on the kitchen table, crumbs on the floor, and his guest room was no more, sacrificed to the small whirlwind who'd taken over Ryo's life as well as his home.

But time passed, and Bikky had grown up, gotten tidier, if no less energetic, changed from a small boy into a teenager on the verge of manhood, and then he was gone, off to college.

What had once been a perfect apartment for a single man was now too spacious. Living there alone would be unbearable. Good thing he wouldn't have to.
