Unsubmissive and Unbreedable 2 - or 'Thanks, but I am not interested in being part of that Dead Meme, Cynder!' (Spyro, Human!SI)

Making a temporary hideout is far more difficult than I had expected.

Since I was in some uncharted forest in the middle of nowhere I was familiar with, trying to find a 'safe space' was quite tedious. The world of Spyro can be quite deadly for someone that wasn't fitted with a weapon of mass destruction such as fire breath, ice breath, thunder breath, and other crap that made dragons extremely powerful in the food chain.

I am a human- my status as Apex Predator was in jeopardy by how strong other beings in this world were. So, I have to rely on the one skill all smart animals have since birth- hide and plan a way out of this shit.

Usually, that should just be to hide and pray, but I refuse to let luck help me in this case. Not when I have a huge dragon after my ass in a relatively literal way. So, I have to start doing the very few things that an intellectual should do in this mess- find/build a shelter, create a campfire, secure food, secure weapons and find a way to protect the shelter from any potential threats.

That's the plan, that's what I was looking to achieve. First off, however, I had to understand what was around me. Sure, I can't exactly get a map out of nowhere, but there were some hills around where I could perch and see the horizon.

Not much was visible after going for a few hours of slow-walking, but I managed to find some apples and pears to carry around. I couldn't exactly pack too much supply on me due to a lack of bags or anything to carry things, so I took what I could bring with me for short-term eating.

Not much for a lunch-worthy meal, but enough to help me with my thirst and my hunger.

All was nice and well, especially when I armed myself with a mighty stick with a large blunt end that would make for a sturdy club. This was good because I was running out of time. Since I was not finding anything worthy to settle a base on, I was starting to dread the fact I was going to be wandering around for the entire night. With no sight for an opportunity to sleep.

The afternoon was coming close to shift to the evening. At this point, I knew Cynder had dropped from looking for me for the time being, possibly being pulled away to handle other businesses for Malefor.

So, it was the best chance to get somewhere to lay low and avoid any potential confrontations.

Speaking of which, right as I was crossing a dry river, avoiding any wet spot that could lead me to trip and fall, I heard a commotion unfolding nearby. At first I thought it was some animals chasing one another but-

"HELP!"

Loud, clear and quite panicked. I decided to approach the source of the noise and, at the very least, check what was going on. I was greeted by an unusual sight. Two Apes, and… Elora? I could recognize that deer-like girl at first glance with that appearance- ignoring how slightly curvier she looked in this version.

The Apes looked to be tied to Malefor's army, and had put the faun in a cage. One was belittling the girl, while the other was on the ground, disoriented as he tried to rest a bit after he went through what felt to it like a marathon. He was distant enough to do something and I eyed the dagger that he had holstered by his flank.

Readying the club, I approached the weak link of the duo and delivered a descending hit. The stick slammed onto that skull of his before he could have reacted to my approach.

The Ape twitched to the ground, the rear side of his head cracked open as I saw blood and some pinkish goo. I definitely didn't mean to cause that ugly sight or kill the ape so easily. Was I stronger now than when I was back on Earth?

I mean, I know I hit really hard, but that result sure felt… grossly odd. Looking away and pushing down the bile for the time being as killing didn't feel as easy as it was in games… I took the knife and its sheath before thinking this one out.

The remaining ape had not noticed what I just did. He was focusing on Elora, the faun insulting back as she had seen me coming to rescue her and was doing the one thing she could do in that predicament- create a distraction for me to act upon.

I couldn't exactly stab the ape anywhere in his body. His frame was too thick for normal stabbing and I saw a single viable spot to one shot him. I prepared the dagger, lined it up and I struck the ape.

The blade pierced the side of his head. The bastard went suddenly full-tense, eyes astronomically wide and… then slumped on the side, allowing me to pull the blade out as he fell.

I spared the dead ape a brief look, then turned to the cage and saw Elora looking… nervous. I couldn't blame her. I looked like an ape myself. I gave her a silent look, the faun looking back as we both tried to decipher each other's intentions.

She was tense as I held the knife close to the rope holding the cage's door closed. The pressure was evident to both, carefully I cut the rope, but before opening the door I proceeded to holster the blade away, the girl noticing this and, right as I opened the door, elicited her to tackle-hug from her.

"Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!" She started to mutter against my shirt, nuzzling against it and shivering like a leaf. I hugged her back, trying to console her a bit and… yeah, that's how I met Elora.

From there onward, the situation got a bit better for us both. After spending a few minutes regaining control of the situation, Elora managed to be a bit more chatty in regard to her situation.

The faun had gone out to get more food away from her hut, she ended up straying too far from home and too deep in Malefor-controlled land, was chased by the apes and got caged.

"Is your hut safely away from this domain?"

A nod, she looked confident and hopeful. I explained my situation, excluding the fact Cynder specifically was after my butt, and the girl was more than fine to house me- in return, however she wanted me to work around and help her survive.

Her mother had died when she was very young, so she barely could handle many chores around the house on her own. So, I pretty much became her 'housemate' or something.

I was nervous before the chances of my 'smell' getting her worked up like it did with Cynder but… it seems it wasn't doing it for Elora. This was relieving as it meant that I could actually live in her hut without getting suddenly fucked by her. All in all, today was a tough day but… I made it.

And I could find peace… within just the next two days as trouble decided to come by and drop more issues on my lap.
