Ryo was mortified. Here he was, a guest in Dee's home, and he was practically destroying the place. Okay, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but still, going into someone's home and breaking things was incredibly bad manners. He should have been more careful. He'd only been trying to help, and now…

"Dee, I'm so sorry, I don't know what happened! I was just taking the dishes into the kitchen; I must've caught it with my elbow…" He trailed off miserably, holding up the small Siamese cat figurine, now in two pieces. His lover wasn't the sort of man to have decorative objects all over the place, so this one obviously must mean a lot to him, and now Ryo had managed to knock its head off.

Taking the figurine, Dee surprised Ryo by grinning. "Don't worry 'bout it, babe. A dab of glue and it'll be fine." On seeing Ryo's confusion at his reaction, his grin grew wider. "The head's been off so many times I've lost count. I was the first one to break it, always was fascinated by it as a kid. Mother tried to keep her breakables out of our reach, but I got to it anyway, pulled a chair over to the sideboard and climbed up to get a closer look. She caught me, and I dropped it. I thought she'd be mad at me, but she wasn't, she just fetched the glue and stuck the head back on. Told me if I wanted to look at something I should just ask."

Relaxing, Ryo smiled back. "Sounds like you were a handful."

"I was a nightmare, into everything!" Dee laughed. "If Mother's gone grey under her wimple, I'm to blame. She gave me the cat as a reminder that almost everything is fixable."
