They were demons, had to be, and they were everywhere! Dee knew for sure he was doomed; there hadn't been this many last time he was here. They surrounded him, slavering little beasts, bottomless pits of hunger that wanted what he was carrying. If he didn't give it to them they'd attack, swarm all over him and simply take everything. He was no match for the ravening horde, couldn't even defend himself since he didn't have his gun with him…
"Dee!"
The warmth in Mother's voice never failed to make Dee feel safe, and her delighted smile on seeing him let him know he was loved. Sure, Mother would be glad of the supplies he'd bought with him, but even if he showed up empty handed, he knew the warmth and delight of her greeting would be exactly the same. She was happy to see HIM; the food was just a bonus. He returned her smile.e smiled back at her.
"Where d'ya want these, Mother?"
"The kitchen please, Dee. You're such an angel helping us out like this."
Dee shook his head in denial. "You're the angel, Mother; I don't know how you deal with the demon horde."
"They're not demons, they're just children."
