When Dee said he wasn't going to be satisfied with kisses anymore, Ryo felt like a bucket of ice water had been thrown over him. He'd been relaxed and refreshed from his shower, surprised that Dee was still up, having expected his partner to already be in bed, maybe even asleep. Instead, he'd been caught completely off-guard.

Okay, yes, he had told Dee a while back that he'd give some serious thought to taking their relationship, if it could be called that, further, but he'd only said that to get Dee to back off a bit, because… Well, it was all so confusing. Dee made him feel things with an intensity he'd never experienced before, and while the kissing was good, even amazing, the thought of going beyond that scared him more than having a gun aimed at his head.

Guns were a known quantity so Ryo knew what would happen if the trigger was pulled; he'd seen the results often enough. Getting… physical with Dee was something else entirely.

Ryo had only ever fooled around with women, so while there might be some similarities, there were bound to be significant differences too. Partly he was worried about being a disappointment and because of that, losing the relationship he already had with Dee. But he was also afraid that sleeping with Dee would change him in some fundamental way, that he wouldn't recognise himself afterwards. It wasn't a step to be taken lightly, let alone rushed, and now Dee was making ultimatums. Everything was getting out of Ryo's control.

Dee was backing him into a corner, which was so unfair, but at the same time, Ryo recognised he'd been dragging his feet, trying to avoid stepping out of his comfort zone. What was he supposed to do?

Dee proposed a test drive, one night to see if Ryo would like what he could offer, with the promise that he'd stop if Ryo told him to. Ryo wanted to believe his partner meant it, but Dee had a bad habit of pushing things further than Ryo was comfortable with, so who was to say he wouldn't do the same this time?

In the end though, there was only one answer he could give, for better or worse.

"Okay, fine." He didn't sound any more certain than he felt, but Dee seemed not to notice. Hopefully, he wasn't making a gigantic mistake.
