Hey guys! Sorry I haven't published anything in awhile I've been in a bit of a writing slump but I'm back! I'm considering deleting some of my old stories but if you want them to stay let me know! Anyways, I've been reading a couple of a sick fics (if you don't know what that is it's when a character gets hurt or sick and another character nurses them back to health.) and I wanted to write my own. Disclaimer: I do not own Austin & Ally or anything else you may recognize. Anyways Enjoy!
Ally's POV:
I was writing in my songbook at Sonic Boom when I heard the door open and someone came running in. It was one of my best friends Dez and he looked worried. He came running up to me shouting. "Ally! Ally! Help!" Scared and confused I replied. "Dez! What's wrong? Are you okay?" "I'm fine but Austin's. not!"
That sentence scared the life out of me. You see, Austin is my other best friend. I like him and I think he likes me ,but we dated once and it didn't work out, so we decided to just stay friends. "Oh no! What happened to Austin?" "He was playing his guitar on top of the stairs and fell down! I had to call an ambulance and he's at the hospital!"
Now I was truly scared. "My gosh! Is he okay?" "He's in surgery right now and that's why I'm here. Come on let's go!" I called to my dad and told him I'm leaving, and let Dez drag me to his car. "Hop in!" He yelled as he got into the drivers side. I got into the passenger seat and we buckled our seatbelts.
He started heading to the hospital and I turned the radio on to help clear my mind. Oh great, the radio started playing one of Austin's songs. Not helping my thoughts. I quickly shut the radio off and we just drove in silence. Finally we arrived at the hospital.
"Alright, I'll park you go inside and I'll meet you." As soon as he said those words I jumped out the car. "Ok see you then!" I ran as fast as I could to the lobby. I got to the reception table and asked the receptionist where Austin was.
"Hi! I need Austin Moon's room number please." "Nice try hon, your the fifth person to try that and he's been here an hour." Fifth person in an hour? Dang people must be really desperate to see Austin. "Im sorry but really, i'm Austin's best friend. My names Ally Dawson. Maybe you've heard of me? After all I am kind of a famous songwriter."
"Oh of course just go right in!" "Really?" "No! Unless you have proof i'm not letting you in." "Fine." I huffed as I grabbed my phone and started looking for pictures of me and Austin. I showed the receptionist and smirked as she rolled her eyes. "He's in room 601. Second floor, fourth door to your left. He's fresh out of surgery so be gentle." "Thank you!" I immediately ran to the elevator and texted Dez where I am.
I put my phone in my pocket and sighed. I was really worried about Austin. Finally the elevator let me onto his floor and I dashed like a mad man to his room. "598, 599, 600, 602, 603. Where's 601 dang it!" Suddenly a doctor approached me as I was frantically searching for room 601. "Miss are you alright? You look a little...lost." "Yes! Can you help me find room 601 please?" He chuckled as he led me to the room.
"Alright here you go miss." "Thank you!" I cried as I rushed into Austin's room. "Austin! Oh my gosh are you okay?" I clamped my hand over my mouth when I realized he was asleep. I sat down next to him while taking in his injuries. I don't know what it was but as soon as I looked at his injuries it was like Dr. Dawson mode was activated.
I grabbed the chart laying next to bed and started going over it. "Broken legs, fractured wrist, cracked skull, bruised and broken ribs. Dang Austin did you fall down the stairs or get hit by a bus?" "Ally?" I looked up and saw Dez and Trish our other best friend, standing at the door. "Oh hey guys." "How's he doing?" Trish asked she sat down next to me.
"I don't know he hasn't woken up yet. But based on his chart not well. Have you either of you called his parents?" "Yeah I rang them on my way here. They'll be here soon." "Okay that's good." We sat in silence for a moment as a doctor walked in. "Oh hey guys, are you Austin's friends?" "Hi, and yeah we're his best friends." I answered.
Dez walked up to the doctor placing a hand on his shoulder. "So give us the news doc, we can handle it." "Alright, well Austin here had quite the fall. How exactly did it happen again?" "Well, we were watching our favorite movie, Zaliens 3 when he went downstairs to get popcorn. A couple minutes later I heard a girly scream and a loud crash and glass shatter. I exited my room and was going downstairs when at the bottom I saw Austin.
He was knocked out and broken glass surround ahim.He was all twisted like a pretzel and he had glass sticking out of his head. I safely removed the glass, and applied pressure to his head with a towel while dialing an ambulance." "I see. Well it was quite the fall because he's pretty broken. He'll be staying here for 2 weeks before he can go home. I need to do a couple things real quick, but only one of you can stay here. Who'd like to stay?"
"I'll stay." I replied as Dez and Trish walked out to the waiting room. I held Austin's non-fractured hand as the doctor did whatever he needed. "In case you need anything I'm Dr. Lynch." I smiled at him, "Ally Dawson, although I wish I didn't have to meet you this way." "I understand Ally, I just wanted to let you know. We think Austin will make a complete recovery but there is a higher chance for something to go wrong."
I nodded towards him sadly. I started tracing circles on Austin's soft hands with my fingers. I don't know how much time passed but by the time I looked up the doctor was gone and Trish and Dez were walking back in.
"Hey Ally, we went to the cafeteria and we got some water and snacks. Want one?" Trish asked as she offered me a water bottle and granola bar. "That sounds great, thanks." I answered as I gratefully took the items. "Any news on Austin?" Trish questioned before taking a sip of her water.
I sighed before answering her question. "The doctors expect him to make a full recovery, but he also said there is a higher chance something could happen and effect that." "Oh." Trish and Dez answered simultaneously. "Oh! Has anyone called Austin's siblings?"
(A/N: I saw a story where they used Ross's siblings and I'm really un original so I'm gonna use their names for Austin's siblings but Austin will be the youngest and the only A name lol.) Austin has 4 siblings. Riker , the oldest. Rydel, his older sister. Rocky, his older brother. And finally Ryland, his other older brother.
Dez nods his head. "Yeah I texted them about 15 minutes ago they should be here soon." "Okay." Silence filled the room as we watched Austin sleep. He seemed peaceful but you know what they say, it's always the calm before the storm.
We watched Austin sleep for a few more minutes before he started to wake up. His eyelids fluttered for a moment before he opened them fully. "Ally?" He managed to croak out. "What happened? Why am in a hospital? And why does my head hurt so bad?" "Austin! I'm so glad your awake! You fell down the stairs at Dez's house and hurt yourself pretty bad. You had to have surgery actually. Also your head hurts because you cracked your skull."
"Ughhh," he moaned. "Oh hey Dez, hey Trish." He said acknowledging them. "Hey." They responded simultaneously. We sat in silence for a moment before Dr. Lynch walked in. "Oh Austin I see your awake. That's good, how are you feeling?" "Like I was ran over by a bus." "That's to be expected you took a pretty hard fall. You seem to be doing good for now so I'll come check back later." "Okay," Austin replied.
Austin's POV:
I laid in my hospital bed while listening to Ally, Trish, and Dez talk when a nurse entered the room. "Hey Austin you've got some visitors. Want me to send them inside?" "Sure go ahead." I said closing no my eyes as I knew my idiot siblings were going to come in and start teasing me.
"Hey guys." I said still keeping my eyes closed. "Hey idiot, how ya feeling?" My oldest brother Riker asked. "Like I was hit by a bus." I replied opening my eyes. They all walked closer to me sitting on the edge of the bed. My sister Rydel walked towards me enveloping me into a hug. "Idiot," she whispered into my ear.
I rolled my eyes at her comment waiting for the many, many more to come. "So Dez what happens exactly?" My brother Rocky asked. "Well we were watching Zaliens 3 when Austin went downstairs to get popcorn, and then a couple minutes later I heard a girly scream, a loud crash, and glass shattering. I went downstairs to see Austin at the bottom all twisted up surrounded by glass."
At this point all my siblings were laughing at me. I rolled my eyes at their childish behavior. "It's not funny!" I yelled at them. "Uh yeah it is, what kind of idiot falls down stairs and breaks himself? It's hilarious." I rolled my eyes at my Ryland's comment. "Austin's right we should be nice to him." Rydel added.
"Thank you." I replied as she enveloped me into another hug. "But," she replied dragging the T. "We should also make fun of him more!" "Rydellll." I said whinliy. I put on a pouty face as my siblings laughed at me again. "Guys let's be nice to Austin he doesn't feel good." Ally said as she walked over to me and sat next to me on the bed.
"Oh your just saying that because you like him." "Rydel!" Ally said as she covered her face while blushing. We all laughed at her before Rydel spoke up again. "Oh stop it he likes you too you know. When are you guys gonna hurry up and get back together already?"
This time it was me yelling Rydel as I covered my face. When I looked up again I noticed Ally laughing at me too. "Ally!" I said embarrassed and annoyed. "I'm sorry," she said still laughing. "If you think my blushing is bad you need a mirror you look like a tomato!" Embarrassed by Ally's words I covered my face once again.
"Aww is little Austy embarrassed?" Ally said teasing me. "Allyyy." I said dragging the Y. "Okay guys enough teasing Austin." "Thank you Ally." I replied. We talked for a little bit longer before everyone started to leave. Eventually it was just me and Ally. We sat in silence for a few minutes before she got up.
"Sorry Austin but I gotta go. But I'll come see you tomorrow after school okay?" "Ok thanks for coming, bye Ally." "Of course, I'll see ya tomorrow." She waved bye before exiting the room. I closed my eyes getting ready to sleep, but I couldn't keep them closed for long. I kept thinking back to when Rydel was teasing us about liking each other. Ally seemed pretty embarrassed, so maybe she likes me? Either she likes me or it's embarrassing to her for even suggesting liking me. I started thinking about if Ally and I started dating. I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
Ally's POV:
Austin's door was cracked and I watched him for a few minutes before leaving. He fell asleep with a smile on his face and I wonder what he was thinking about. Probably pancakes, cheerleaders, or Lebron James. I walked away smiling like an idiot, at the idiot who fell asleep smiling.
As I drove home all I could think about was how these next few months are gonna be torture for Austin. Poor thing. I started smiling to myself as I thought of all the ways I can help him.
I parked my car in the drive way and started walking inside. I took a quick shower to wash off the hospital germs and got dressed in my favorite pjs. I walked to my bed and climbed in under the covers. I grabbed my songbook off my nightstand and starting writing in it. I was thinking of new lyrics when I started humming to an old song I wrote with Austin. "Take a breath and let it go, try to have a little hope someone's gonna be there when you don't."
I smiled thinking about that day. I overcame my stage fright and had my first kiss with my best friend. It was a good day. I closed my songbook and placed it back on the nightstand. I turned off my lamp and rolled over on my side. I began thinking about my visit to Austin tomorrow. Maybe I'll bring him pancakes.
My happy thoughts turned sad as I thought again about all the pain Austin is gonna be in. Oh well, I guess I'll have to help him. Looks like Dr. Dawson is in for business.
