This is my very first Vampire Knight Story. So please do not be harsh. I will take consecutive criticism.

Disclaimer: I do not own Vampire Knight or the characters. I only own oc's I create and the plot.

Enjoy!

The air held malice, suffocating those who needed to breathe. The air was cold, freezing the lungs of those around. The air held hate, terrifying those around. The air had a metallic scent. The crowd stood before to men, the blood seeping from the wounds. They both lay on the ground, unmoving. Unconscious. What led to this? Why were they unconscious? Two of my most pristine and high-ranked members of the mysterious vampire race. Silver locks mixed with those chocolate ones on the ground. How did it come to this and why? The nobles quietly were able to get the men in their arms and take them away from the scene. They returned to Cross Academy and went directly to the Moon Dormitory.

-13 Years Earlier-

"Are you serious? I said no," the annoyed child looked at his uncle with a scowl. "They are all low-ranked vampires and I'm...

"A child who needs to listen to authority," the older man looked at him. He sighed briefly, "Zero-kun, you know, don't you?" The young boy didn't reply. He already knew he was different, but that didn't mean he liked what Chairman Cross said.

The child named Zero crossed his arm over his chest, looking down. After a few minutes, his soft voice was heard. "Of course I know, it's me. I'm the 'rare' one as people call it." The 5-year-old glanced into the mirror beside him. His amethyst eyes shone brightly in the room's candlelight, his silver locks were soft as silk, and his skin was pale and almost seemed to glow.

Chairman Cross got to his feet, looking at Zero. "You still need to meet Kaname-kun..."

"No!" Zero interrupted and the scowl that had appeared on his face deepened and his eyes narrowed harshly. "Keep that Pureblood away from me! I already said I'd join the night class, do not press your luck with anything else regarding those vampires!"

"You don't have a choice," he whispered. "Any individual who joins the Night Class has to meet him first. He has a say in the matter."

Zero's scowl seemed to be permanently attached to his face, "Then tell me why I'll be in the class if he has a say?" He didn't understand why this pureblood had to mettle in his 'education.' A sigh left Cross' lips.

A knock was heard on the door, as Zero and Cross looked at one another. They could feel the hostile presence on the other side of the door. Zero could feel his skin tingling to alert him that there was a pureblood nearby. He sat in the chair, crossed his arms, and a scowl deepened on the silverette's face. Cross sighed in defeat, knowing this wouldn't end well. He opened the door, and Cross smiled at the individual. "Kaname-kun, welcome. please come in."

Without much effort and gracefully, the Pureblood was already seated across from the young child. Their eyes met and Kaname could tell this child was different. He could tell he was a Pureblood like him, but there was something else, something more. His blood was intoxicating, making it hard for Kaname to keep composure. He knew he had to do or say something for Zero to leave. Or else the silver hunter boy would be in danger.

"Why would you bring another Pureblood here?" Kaname's voice was dark and his eyes were narrowed. "Do you know what that will do?"

"I don't want your circle or your friendship, Pureblood! I don't need you!" Zero retorted. Kaname looked at him, his anger rising with this child. "I might be a Pureblood, but I don't need your minions! So you don't have to worry about your precious position!"

"Zero-kun, that's enough," Cross finally intervened. He looked at Kaname and sighed, "Kaname-kun, he is here because...he is my nephew." Kaname looked shocked but didn't say anything. "He had nowhere to go and to consider other matters, he is here." Kaname arched a brow before he closed his chocolate eyes.

The pureblood cleared his throat, reopening his eyes. "Fine, but one thing you do to jeopardize anyone here, you are gone." He glared at Zero, who scowled at him. The two of them hated one another so much, the tension in the air made it difficult for anyone to breathe.

"You honestly think you can order me around?" Zero gave the pureblood a dark smirk, as Kaname glared hatefully at him. "Unfortunately, you can't." The truth washed over Kaname, realizing his powers had no effect on him.

The smirk on Zero's face appeared to grow as Kaname narrowed his eyes. "Cross, are you insane?" Kaname looked at him with anger. "This child is a danger to everyone here!"

"Screw you, Kuran," Zero growled at Kaname. "Kaien-sama is a very kind man! if it wasn't for him, I would be homeless! How dare you yell at him! If you have an issue with me, then deal with me!"

The order made Kaname freeze for a second before he coughed in surprise. Zero realized what he had done and looked down. His power to make anyone obey him hit the Pureblood like a freight train. Cross also realized it, as he got to his feet. "Kaname-kun, are you alright? Do you need some water? That cough came out of nowhere." He didn't want Kaname to realize it was Zero and his power. Technically, Zero was older than Kaname by at least 1,018 years, but due to a spell, he was forced to live as a child, for 1,000 years because Rido Kuran cursed him. That was why he strongly disliked Kaname; he was a Kuran, and Zero didn't trust Kurans.

"What was that?" The bewilderment made him look at Zero, who slowly raised his eyes. That's when he saw fear, confusion, and hurt in those beautiful eyes. Unshed tears made them glisten, as Zero turned away. He realized even though Kaname was the defense and hostile, he wasn't like Rido. He wasn't playing mind games with Zero, making the boy 'trust' him.

"What was what?" Cross tried to get his attention from Zero, so Kaname looked at Cross. "You simply had to cough, right?" Kaname said nothing, as he looked at the child again, who was not looking at either one of them. Cross looked over at his nephew, raising to his feet. He slowly walked over to Zero. "Zero-kun, are you okay?" He shook his head, suddenly burying his face into Cross's chest. He wrapped his arms around the child, looking at Kaname. "I think he is overwhelmed right now."

Kaname looked at the child, as the anger he felt disappeared. It was replaced with confusion and bewilderment. He decided to try his luck, "Zero..." The child visibly stiffened in Cross' arms, as he slowly turned his head to look at Kaname. The tears made Kaname stop, knowing sooner or later, he had to let this child be comfortable around him. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said what I did." Zero and Cross were stunned. For a Proud Pureblood to admit fault, it was unheard of.

Zero slowly removed himself from Cross' arms and walked towards Kaname, still unsure. Their eyes met. "I'm sorry as well. I spoke out of turn, Kaname-sama." He bowed his head and kept his eyes glued to the ground.

Cross smiled, as he placed a hand on Zero's shoulder. "Now then, maybe we can put this behind us? It's rather late and tensions are high." Zero said nothing, as Kaname nodded."Now then, Kaname-kun, do you mind showing Zero-kun where he will be staying? I still have a few papers to fill out." Kaname only nodded once more, as Zero who kept looking at the ground, followed the pureblood silently.

Cross watched as the two disappeared into the night, he hoped all would go well and nothing would happen...again.
