As the big three kids sat together, Percy filled his plate with food.
"And honestly, I thought you faked the whole stomach noises for getting a break." Jason chuckled at him. Percy looked at him seriously.
"I did fake it." He said "But that doesn't mean that I'm not going to eat." He added with a small smile. Thalia snorted.
"Hold up. Hold up. I'm still stuck on the fact that-" Nico started "You faked the stomach noises?" He shouted in a whisper.
"I had to." Percy said as if everything was normal and leaned back in his chair so people wouldn't think anything was wrong especially as Hades was walking towards him and had raised an eyebrow at Nico.
"Had to what?" he asked as stood next to them.
"Had to consider marine biology as a profession during college." Percy replied smoothly, first looking at Nico and then Hades with a grin.
"Yeah. Lets not go into the details of that." Hades told him.
"Its interesting-" Percy started
"Do you want me to pass out on spot because that's what's going to happen if you start talking to me about fish and how they feel when people put extra bait or something." Hades told him with a raised eyebrow.
"It annoys them." Percy grumbled under his breath.
"Well, I'm going to leave you guys talking about fish." Hades said and smirked at Nico.
"We are not talking about fish." Nico said, waving a fork threateningly at Percy.
"Hey, your dad brought it up. Don't tell me." Percy said and then smirked at Percy.
"Oh, I see how it is. Throw me under the bus." Hades grumbled. Percy winked at him.
"You wanna run unless he actually starts talking about the emotion of fish." Thalia suggested to Hades with a nod. Hades looked at her and then immediately took off.
"Ouch." Percy snickered.
"Okay now can we go back to what we were talking about? Why'd you fake it?" Nico asked
"I needed a break." Percy told him, with a knowing look at Thalia and Jason who knew exactly why he'd done what he did. Percy didn't want to mention this to Nico, knowing that he was already worried about Hades and also because only a few people had heard Zeus and he didn't want to tell Nico what wasn't his story to tell.
"Jeez. Skills." Nico chuckled.
"Thanks." Percy grinned.
"Well, I'm going to go sit with dad, Hazel and Persephone." Nico said as he looked at the table with they were sitting. "Oh and apparently, with Demeter as well. Fun." He said as he went to their table.
Percy waited till Nico went and sat down and then looked at Thalia and Jason.
"Lets walk and talk." Percy said as he wiped his face and got up. The other two got up as they joined Percy. They made sure that they were out of earshot and started talking.
"Shit got too serious. There's way too much going on to continue reading." Percy said finally.
"I'm not understanding what is going on." Thalia shook her head.
"She's right. Its very unlike dad to say stuff like that." Jason sighed.
"I honestly think that even after so long, we don't know these guys as well as we should. I'm not even going to lie, my dad and the other two as well don't feel like my fathers or uncles. They're like elder brothers like 100%. More than 100% and I like it that way." Percy shrugged.
"Same but we're still calling them dad and uncle." Jason said with a chuckle at the end.
"But what we're talking about is why he would say stuff like that in the first place?" Thalia frowned.
"Or why he would feel stuff like that." Jason added. Percy stopped walking and gave a long look to Thalia and Jason.
"I think he's either going to feel or more likely already is feeling a lot more than either one of us know." Percy told them finally "Its not good." He added as the other two didn't reply.
"Yeah but we still don't have an answer to the question I asked." Thalia said as the three of them stopped walking in front of the bar. Percy went and poured himself some water.
"Don't we now?" he said as he drank water.
"Out with it." Thalia told him seriously.
"Hera." Percy answered. The other two waited for him to elaborate. Percy sighed and started.
"Imagine this. You fall in love with somebody again. It's a love which is one of a kind and one which was destined. You make vows to each other to always be there while your heart's beating just at the sight of the woman you're in love with and it hurts to be away from her. Then imagine that one day you just say something that helps somebody else you care deeply about and then that woman just tells you that he chose his brother over her and that she thought that he loved her but that she was wrong and then just walks away. Just think about how that would break your heart and you from inside." Percy told the two of them as looked them in the eyes. The two of them were quiet but Jason looked like he understood what Percy said more than Thalia.
"I don't think that even I can imagine that." He said and shook his head. "I don't want to imagine it. Its painful just hearing about it."
"My heart hurts just thinking about it, Jase. Imagine what Zeus' is going through because this is exactly what's happening to him. You saw what happened to him today and I hate to say it but its just the goddamn beginning. There's not much time before it crashes down on him. But that would only be if we're lucky but I highly doubt that we are." Percy sighed.
"Lucky?!" Jason's gaze snapped to him "What's unlucky then?"
"Unlucky is that he's already realized and he's not showing it which is most probably the case."
"Thalia, we have to talk to Hera." Jason looked at Thalia who looked grim and was staring straight ahead. Percy was sitting on the bar counter, drinking water.
"Are you serious?" she asked finally. "This is all her fault anyways."
"It is but do you see another choice?" Jason asked her
"Yes. She comes and apologizes." Thalia said
"That's never going to happen." Jason replied in a second. "I know her."
"Well then if you know her so well then figure out something else to do." Thalia snapped at him angrily.
"Don't take out your frustration on me. We're on the same side. But I don't see any other way out of this and stop bringing your ego in this." Jason replied just as angrily.
"I'm not bringing my ego in! Grow up and realize that it's not our goddamn fault." Thalia shouted.
"I am grown up and that's the exact reason I'm saying that we need to do something about this because Percy's fucking right all right. This goes on anymore and its gonna be much much worse than you think and that's going to be all on you!" Jason shouted, his voice increasing with every word. Lightning crackled in the sky above.
"Guys you need to calm down. Yelling at each other isn't going to do any good." Percy told them calmly as he looked up.
"Oh really? Okay then Mr. Mediator, why don't you tell us what to do?" Thalia said, turning her focus to Percy.
"I think Jason's right. I'll give it to you straight. Don't apologize but talk." He said coolly.
"Wow yeah take his side but you're just like me." Thalia snapped at him now.
"What do you mean by that?" Percy asked, his eyes darkening as he got off the counter.
"I mean that you couldn't do shit yourself when this happened to you." Thalia told him.
"I tried everything, Thalia." Percy told her, trying to stay calm as he knew that she was going through something.
"Bullshit. You would do the same thing that I'm doing to help Poseidon. I can say that because you didn't do shit after what she said to him! YOU DIDN'T DO SHIT EXCEPT SAY SOMETHING WHEN SHE SAID THAT!" Thalia screamed at him.
"THAT'S ENOUGH, ALL RIGHT." Percy yelled at her as the wind grew stronger and his eyes darkened to a level which meant trouble. "I could not do more than that at that moment. You don't know shit about what I'd do if I was in your position. You know what I would do, Thalia? I'D STOP BEING SO FUCKING CHILDISH AND DO ANY FUCKING THING TO MAKE SURE THAT HE WAS ALL RIGHT! I WOULD PUT MY EGO ASIDE AND DO WHAT WAS NECESSARY. SO DON'T YOU GODDAMN COME AT ME AND SAY THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT AND ESPECIALLY NOT ABOUT THIS!" Percy shouted at her in such anger that Jason froze in shock because he had never seen Percy this angry and so did Thalia because though Percy had been angry at her before, it was never this bad.
"Do I make myself absolutely clear on this, Thalia?" Percy asked her, his lethal calm anger back. Thalia didn't say anything because she didn't know what to say so she just nodded.
"Good." Percy said. He turned his back towards Jason and Thalia as he leaned on the bar counter and took a deep breath. Just then a voice came from the background.
"Guys, is everything okay? I just saw a huge bolt of lightning in the sky. Thought it was Zeus but its apparently not so it had to be one of you and then like two seconds later the wind picked up, smelling like the sea." Poseidon said to the three younger gods. Percy turned around and smiled at him.
"All good, dad. We just had a bet." He said
"Ah okay. Even me, Zeus and Poseidon made those bets a lot when we decided our domains. But that's the first that I've seen you guys made so it had me and him worried." Hades told them
"Ah. Sorry about that, guys." Percy told them sheepishly.
"Nah, its all good." Poseidon chuckled "But how come Nico isn't with you guys?" he asked questioningly.
"Oh, he wanted to sit with us." Hades answered before any of the other three could. Poseidon nodded in acknowledgement.
"Well, is the bet over?" Poseidon asked the younger gods.
"Not yet. We just have to decide who won with maybe a few more tests." Jason answered this time as Percy drank water to calm himself down.
"Well, enjoy and let us know who won." Hades chuckled and the two elder gods left. The three younger gods waited till they were out of earshot.
"I'm sorry, Percy." Thalia said and Percy nodded.
"Look, Thals, I'm just trying to help. I'm worried about him as well. There's so much shit going on with the three of them that its worrying." Percy said, rubbing his temples.
"With all of them?" Jason asked alarmingly
"Its gonna be all right. Lets just focus on Zeus for now, okay?"
"Right." Thalia said
"Listen, if you take my advice talk to both Zeus and Hera." Percy said
"Look, we'll talk to Hera but you need to talk to dad." Thalia sighed
"Why me?" Percy asked in surprise.
"I don't know. You look like you would understand him and I think we need to do it at the same time. It'll be easier if you talk to him first and then tell us exactly what's happening before we talk to Hera because both of us are still not able to understand exactly what's happening." Jason sighed.
"Fine." Percy said with a nod "But I won't tell you everything he tells me because he's gonna be trusting me with that and I'm not gonna toss it out like its candy. Even to you guys."
"That's fair." Thalia and Jason nodded.
"But where's he gonna be?" Jason asked.
"I'll figure it out." Percy said but he knew exactly where Zeus was gonna be. He remembered Zeus telling him that he liked to sit at the deck when he had to think or process some stuff. That's exactly where he was going to be especially in the night.
"I'll see you guys later." Percy said as he started towards the deck.
