Chapter 3

Dull grey clouds rolls over the once clear skies of Musutafu. The sounds of hundreds of pedestrians walking toward their destinations across the busy city.

Cars honking in impatience and frustration.

But for Izuku, the sounds of the outside world is blocked out by a tinted window of a private limousine.

He would have preferred to walk or at least dignify himself with public transportation, but that man decided that even if he's a failure he won't 'tolerate his family name being associated with anything less than grand'.

It's been 10 years since the last time he interacted with anyone in his family other than Fuyumi.

Natsuo finally got what he wanted, after getting into his university and applying for a dormitory, he was able to disappear into the sunset and left that prison behind.

Shouto devoted all his time to training, either his desire to or not he still does so.

Izuku tried to do the same, in a sense.

Every day he's gotten better at controlling the output of his ice and the speed of his quirk.

He's hit only one growth spurt in his entire 15 years of life, his short but lanky stature helps his quirk he supposed. Making it easy to be agile than a tank like that man is.

Seems he got more of his mothers genes he comprehends, unlike his twin that somehow grew an entire head taller than he was.

"Lucky bastard"

The sound of the car stopping pulls him out of his musings.

The driver doesn't say anything, just peers back at him through the rear view mirror, he supposes that's his sign to get out.

His dull eyes roam over the entrance to the proclaimed Number One high school of Heroics. Without hesitation the limousine drives off, leaving Izuku at the curb of a sidewalk near the entrance to the school.

His entire life he's been either homeschooled or done online schooling, never had he interacted with anyone outside of his dysfunctional family, nor been to public or even private institutions.

So even if he has an indifferent facade, his social anxiety from being a recluse is finally catching up to him. And it's not a fun experience seeing all these teenagers waking in groups or pairs towards U.A.

With a flex of his palm he stalks forward to the school.

But before he even gets a few steps in, he immediately gets shoulder checked by a spikey haired blond. "GET OUT OF THE WAY EXTRA!"

He stares at the back of the tall blond in disbelief, is he going to have to deal with people like that? Is everyone here that arrogant?..

\~/

The bus drive towards site B was.. interesting, everyone was so loud.. and it was grating on Izuku's nerves. They were already shot from actually having to be near multiple people he didn't know, and now they're turned into dust, by being crammed into a small space with energetic or anxious hormonal teenagers.

As he stretched near the intimidating metal gate of the fake city of site B, he unfortunately noticed he was in the same exam site as the uptight blue haired boy.

The teen decided that he should interrupt the hero who was explaining the practical exam about something on the lines of 'there was 4 robots yadayada.. U.A. Should be better at its exams' or whatever he wasn't paying much attention, main take away he started berating the blond about him having him loudly creaking his chair back and fourth.

The blond basically made a death threat in response.

Back to the task at hand, he looks towards the gate with determination. "This is it, I'll show I'm not some Failure"

Without warning the gates start sliding open and present mic's? Voice screams "GO!"

And without being one to hesitate, Izuku starts off his run with aiming down his palms towards the floor below him.

Creating a frozen path for him to slide over and gain speed while unintentionally stopping other examines from following him.

A good two blocks away from the start and he encounters his first 2 pointer, not hesitating in the slightest, Izuku swipes his hand in a crescent motion.

A sharp crescent blade of ice hurdles toward the 2 pointer, effectively cutting it off without much effort.

"So these robots were made to be destroyed obviously but I didn't expect them to be durable as butter.."

It's been a few minutes since his first robot he's fought and each encounter he's having barley caused any strain on his quirk or body.

"Alright I have somewhere around 22 points.. is that enough? Is that average? Maybe above? Too many variables not enough information."

His mussing gets cut off by a blast of gun powder and concrete.

Another 3 pointer, Izuku's silver eyes sharpened from their dull bored gaze.

His hand slams down on the ground, frost quickly crackling and crawling up the 3 pointer.

Effectively neutralizing its mobility and its circuits.

"25" he huffs out a frosted breath, Izuku once more takes position to freeze a path toward more points.

The next group of robots are all huddled together in a V shape.

stopping his skating. Izuku throws both of his palms forward and let's loose a torrent of below zero frost at the group of robots.

Each pointer's green paint and metal gets caked over by crystals of pure white.

Without hesitation he swipes his palm horizontally sending out a wave of condensed ice toward the frozen pointers, easily slicing through and crumbling the robots in its wake.

"31"

After a few minutes Izuku was able to gather a considerable amount of 42 points.

"That's probably okay.. not sure though haven't been near the others to know their scores."

He was so headstrong that he left the other examines and kept going faster to the point no one was this deep into the city.

Instantly everything goes wrong, loud quakes and cement breaks away revealing the sound of groaning metal and hydraulic.

"The hell?!"

Standing larger than most of the buildings is the Zero pointer, the towering machine looking upon the city with its multiple red cameras for eyes, searching for examiners to 'rush' towards.

The dust cloud is thick, Izuku can barley see and breathe the cement and dirt clouds.

But even then unmistakable sound of a male groaning in pain reverberated in Izuku's ears.

His silver eyes flick towards the source of pained grunts and exhaustion.

There beneath the rubble is a purple haired boy, he obviously tries to lift the rubble off his torso, but with no visible muscle definition and evident exhaustion, he barley lifts it a couple inches from his chest before groaning once more as it falls back down.

"Tch" Izuku clicks his tongue in annoyance, he needs points, not saving someone who clearly didn't train for this.

"Damnit now I sound like that bastard.."

Izuku sprints forward with maximum speed toward the zero pointer, arms angled inward and hands in a claw like position he slides into a crouch position throwing both palms down onto the cement.

A burst of ice shoots out from his hands as the frozen crystals crawl around him toward the zero pointer, the ice climbing up the zero pointer's legs causes its hydraulics to flutter and groan under the pressure and sheer temperature drop.

Unlike his other family members that control ice, they can't affect the temperature of it, while Izuku doesn't have the control to manipulate ice he can perfectly control how cold it can be. Ranging from 10' degrees to -1200' if he pushes it but, that usually causes freezer burns to start forming on his body since it seemed his own quirk fed of its owners body.

The ice continues to climb the hulking machine without remorse and resistance, each cubic meter it's metal groans in protest, cracks forming along the surface.

The green metal becoming brittle from the temperature dropping below its boiling point.

"D-Damnit!" His breathing comes out in heaving pants as his arms and shoulders feel like they're burning from the inside out, it's like he can feel little crystals of ice under his brittle scared tissue. Freezing the flesh and bone under his already frozen skin, the discoloration from his freezer burns become a rotted purple, new darker patches of decaying skin crawls up to his shoulder blades.

Skin separating from flesh and nerve endings dying off.

The robot suffers the same fate as it's body, internal circuitry, wires, and processors freezing over causing it to malfunction.

The towering machine shuts as it starts to tip backwards, the legs of the machine groans from the additional weight before it crumbles apart.

After the zero pointer falling down the whole testing site is completely silent, the only noise that Izuku can hear is his own shaking panting and painful grunting. The skin of his arms barley feel like they're connected to his own flesh, his bones feels like they've been dehydrated. His shoulders also hurt like hell unlike the numbness from his frozen arms.

His shaky eyes dart down to his arms in a attempt at judge the damage, the skin is a disgusting purple.. it looks like it can flick off at any moment, astonishingly his hands look perfectly fine.

Maybe a little pink from the cold but other than that it's a stark contrast to the dead skin on his arms and shoulders.

His trance state gets knocked out by the groans of the other boy and the sound of concrete hitting concrete, his dull silver eyes track the movements of the purple haired boy, he looks fine, a little worse for wear but nothing a good nights rest won't fix.

The boy just stares at him in disbelief and a hint of awe before his eyes flick down towards Izuku's arms and that awe quickly becomes disgust.

Izuku on his part is too hopped up on adrenaline and pain to really notice, vision quite blurred. But he sucks it up and staggers onto his feet with a slight sway to his form.

His arms lay limp on the sides as he stumbles over to the exit of the testing site.

...

Before falling face flat on the ground with a mixture of physical and Quirk exhaustion.

Izuku is really getting tired of waking up to the bland white ceiling of hospital rooms and that mind numbing antiseptic smell.

He feels that same restriction feeling on his arms and chest like he did all those years ago in that fateful day. Lifting his head up, his eyes trail over the thick bandages that cover his arms and crawls up under the sleeves of his shirt.

"That was high reckless you know." An old grandmotherly tone knocks him out of his observations

"Uh." Izuku responds intelligently

The old woman just sighs in exasperation, her short stature does nothing to the glare directed at him. "You pushing your quirk like that! It's bad enough I had people self sacrificing and breaking their bones! But with you I couldn't even heal you properly sonny." She goes to hit him with her 'cane?' But stops mid swing, and instead just sighs once more out of disbelief this time.

"Now, I know you yourself knows the limits of your quirk and the side effects but you should take better care of yourself and not pushing your quirk to the limits." The elder points her syringe like cane at his bandages.

"Yes, I understand. Thank you for healing me." He responds curtly

All the elder does is flicks her eyes up and down his body for a moment before shaking her head. "You weren't listening, I couldn't heal you fully because the devastating wounds I needed to heal were already decayed. The skin on those arms is barley hanging on to your.. muscle. If we try a skin transplant now the muscle under the skin would fully decay, the only reason it hasn't its because your own ice quirk is keeping the decay at bay."

Izuku can only stare wide eyed at the elder, his indifferent faced dropping for one of fear.

"S-so my quirk causes this and prevents this?.. what the hell.."

Recovery girl only nods solemnly"I'm sorry sonny, either way you are going to need stitches here and there to.. keep it from sloping off." She winced at her own phrasing

Izuku just cringes but ultimately nods in understanding.

He slips back down into a comfortable position in the bed once more, it's a bit difficult with the dull pain of his arms and shoulders and the strange pain in his bones at every moment but he finally gets comfortable.

But one thing stands out most of all in this entire day

How cold and hollow he feels inside

'2137' words

Hi! It's me again, not much to say this time.

We finally get into the entrance exam and we get to see the more devastating consequences Izuku's quirk effects him when he goes near his limits.

Other than that there's little else to for me to comment about this chapter.

One tidbit I wanted to get through is! I if I get anything wrong about how a character's quirk effects their body than it's fine to comment about it!

I'm just making my own mumbo jumbo about the scientific bs i conjured up.
