The Present year 2091:
"How long has it been?", asked Bonnie.
It had been at least a week of mourning for Bonnie since the death of Damon Salvatore. She knew his death was coming, after all, it was Elena who went first after passing in her sleep. She, however, could not shake the last conversation she had with Elena and Damon separately before their passing.
"A week my love, we have had the apothecary up the dosage of the supplements you requested to help you rest," said Bastien, Bonnie's husband, as he sat down next to her and gently moved her hair from out of her face and placed it behind her hair.
"I am sorry that I.." Bonnie mustered before Bastien cut her off.
"No apologies needed, our daughter has gladly taken over the preparations for the gala, she is taking full advantage of her hold on me and how I have said yes to everything, I think I might have even said yes to bejeweled curtains for the foyer," said Bastien which made Bonnie laugh softly.
Bastien leaned down to kiss Bonnie's forehead, which made Bonnie sit up to meet his lips with a soft kiss.
"Thank you Bas.. for everything, for loving me and supporting me through this, I knew that the day would come when…well, I..I did not expect to mourn like this", said Bonnie as tears filled her eyes.
"Bonnie, rest, we will all be here, ready for you when you're ready, I know how much Elena meant to you"
Bastien then gave her another kiss and a soft smile before he turned around and walked out of their room. Bonnie clung onto a black piece of fabric and wept before falling asleep and dreaming of 1994 with Damon at the Salvatore boarding house.
2022, Three years after Bonnie first left for her travels:
"Asinta Mulaf Hinto, Sho Bala!" Bonnie frantically chants as she sees her injured friend Sophia. They had been exploring an abandoned cavern for a necklace in northern Africa when Sophia was impaled from a stalagmite by an unseen force.
"Shit, they really do not want us in here" Sophia chuckled while holding onto her bleeding abdomen.
"Soph I am so sorry, hold on…. I have vampire blood!" Bonnie exclaimed as she frantically fumbles through her backpack for the vial of blood she keeps for emergency purposes, and this was a situation that could be classified as an emergency.
"Bonnie…remember your training, you don't need the vampire blood, focus" Sophia breathily stated.
"We do not have time for this, just take it!" Bonnie frantically opened the vial but before she could get it open, Sophia waved her hand toward the vial which caused the vial to shatter as it hit the cavern wall.
"Dammit…okay" Bonnie exhaled.
"You got this Bonnie, I am also kinda bleeding out here, so you definitely have to have this."
Bonnie closed her eyes and placed her hands over Sophia's wounds. Time felt like it had frozen and suddenly Bonnie was aware of her magic running through her body like electrical currents, ready to take direction from its keeper. With a deep breath, she felt her magic at her fingertips working through Sophie's wound, reconnecting the nerve endings, vessels, and tissues.
"Oh…Bonnie, you..you did it".
Sophia and Bonnie both sat there in amazement at Sophia's perfectly brown unharmed abdomen.
"I know where the necklace is" Bonnie stated.
Sophia observed Bonnie, something had changed within her, she could sense the amount of magic that radiated around Bonnie, no longer did it feel like her magic could spill at the seams at any moment, instead, it felt confined and responsive to the witch that controlled it.
"Do you realize what you have just done? Bonnie this is huge, you healed me with no incantations" Sophia stated, with immense pride on her face. Suddenly Sophia could not get a good read on Bonnie's emotions which was a first for her, especially since she was the most talented empath in her bloodline thus far.
Bonnie smiled and quickly became aware of the danger that was between them and the necklace they were seeking.
"Soph, this room is spelled, heavily I don't know how we missed it."
"Oh, I didn't miss it, I just wasn't aware that my own ancestors suddenly did not want me to get this relic they've been guiding me to, for YEARS!" Sophie shouted at the space annoyed knowing her ancestors could hear her.
"I have done everything you have asked of me, let me pass, or whatever prophecy you have forced me to know will not come to be".
Bonnie suddenly grew irritated with the situation; she was frustrated that this seemed to be a commonality with ancestors and how fickle they can be. Bonnie could still feel her magic running through her and around her, coaxing her to move forward.
As Bonnie moved forward, more stalagmites started to vibrate as if they would attack them at any moment. Bonnie smirked and lifted her left hand which held the stalagmites in place and with her right hand she reached out to the cavern wall which caused the whole space to rumble and shake. A few moments of this and an opening was made.
With a quick look at the witch that was a mixture of admiration and fear, Sophia knew this was her opening to grab the necklace they had been searching for.
"Venez a Moi" Sophia whispered, and the necklace quickly made its home around Sophia's neck.
"Okay now let's get the hell out of here" Sophia urged as she nodded toward Bonnie who was still fixated on the opening with her hand reaching out.
They both made it out of the cavern at record speed, not wanting to spend any more time than they needed to inside.
"That was so strange, I know I have done things to piss my ancestors off, but they could have killed me" Sophia stated trying to catch her breath.
Bonnie sat down quietly with her head in her hands.
"They weren't trying to kill you," Bonnie said matter of fact.
Sophia looked at Bonnie incredulously.
"They were testing me" Bonnie was now standing back up thinking about how she was able to heal another being with just her pure magic, no spells.
"What are you not telling me Soph?"
Sophia could not tell if the question came from a place of curiosity, animosity, or fear. After two years of traveling and training with the witch, she knew she had to finally come clean.
