WHEN THEY GOT INTO TOWN…a room to three minors.
Poseidon sighed as he was suddenly covered in mud. His brain still trying to process the feeling of suffocation that he had faced. It genuinely felt like it was never going to go away until it did. Hades on the other hand was also covered in mud. Huh, the curse did react late at times…
"Well, Percy is 17. He could pass for an 18 year old." Rachel frowned.
"They would ask for identification proof." Chris pointed out.
"You learnt to manipulate the mist by then?" Thalia said in confusion to Percy.
"I didn't have the focus then, Thals. I wouldn't want to mess it up." He answered
"You don't carry any safe measures?" Travis asked
"No, Travis, I do not carry such measures." Percy shook his head.
"Looks like it could have helped." Travis shrugged.
"It wasn't that necessary to get a hotel then anyways." Percy said.
Instead, they turned…Valentine's Days.
Most of the people looked depressed at the thought.
"I'll make sure that you celebrate each one of them and that they're the best goddamn ones celebration that anybody can get." Frank swore.
"You already did." Hazel smiled at him.
"I never get tired of seeing you happy. There's nothing motivating me to stop." Frank winked at her. Hades and Nico looked at Frank approvingly. Aphrodite was grinning.
"It's warmer in here…still pinned there.
Everybody grimaced.
"That would have been hard." Triton winced.
"What about visiting that place again wouldn't be?" Artemis said.
The sign must have…for over forty years
Hades felt a certain type of anguish swell up in him. He pulled Hazel into a side hug as soon as he realized that it was her pain that he was feeling. To be returned from the dead was one thing but to re-visit the place that was a part of her in so many ways, both positive and negative was another thing altogether.
Had he really…before disappearing forever?
Everybody flinched at that.
"He remembered, Hazel. He remembered you very very much." Leo told Hazel, hoping that that would make her feel better and Hazel gave him a small smile for that.
"That makes it better and yet sometimes, it feels like maybe he would have been happier if he hadn't." Hazel sighed.
"While that may be true-" Leo admitted "-It would make me feel better to know that I wasn't forgotten by somebody that I cared deeply about." He told her.
"You sound like you've thought about that." Hephaestus frowned.
"We all have at one point." Chris shrugged. "It makes you think about who you can give your trust to and who actually cares about you." He said. "If I may be honest?" he asked everybody.
"This is a place to be honest." Dionysus said, his eyes curious.
"Okay, honestly, that is one of the reason that I had joined with the titans. I figured that there wasn't anybody was going to remember me anyways. Might as well join up in a place where my life was valued even if it had the highest possibility of being lost." Chris said, looking down, not meeting anybody's gaze. Hermes flinched at that. Even he didn't want to admit to himself that he was genuinely only concerned with Luke at that point. Clarisse lightly punched Chris in the shoulder.
"Don't you ever think that way again." Clarisse told him. Chris chuckled and nodded.
"It was a misconception." He said "I was wrong. I realized that the minute I came back. Especially when everybody at camp knew my name and not because I was cured by Mr. D but by the fact that I used to live there." Chris said with a smile.
"We never forget the campers, man." Percy sighed. "We lost too many." He shook his head.
"103." Came Nico's voice. Everybody's heads snapped to look at him.
"What?" Athena asked sharply.
"103 campers. We lost 103 campers before the final war, excluding Castor. They either died or left." Nico said, elaborating further. All the Olympians looked at him in horror.
Frank's fingers hovered…She's beautiful."
Hades sighed.
"Thanks, Percy." Hazel told Percy with a sad smile.
Then Percy studied…was too uncomfortable.
"Yeah, well, now I know." Percy said, looking at Leo in amusement. Leo bowed.
"Yeah, I got good genes." Leo chuckled.
"It was so weird at first, not going to lie." Frank shook his head. Leo frowned but then shrugged.
"Can't blame you." He said
Frank cleared his throat…"You're the best, Frank."
"I know." Frank said, imitating a dramatic hair flip, making most of the people laugh.
"Also, I genuinely don't think that even hundred boxes of wet wipes is going to do anything." Poseidon said, still covered in mud, glad to get rid of the suffocation if not the mud.
The floorboards creaked…done the same for me."
"Always." Percy smiled at Hazel.
"Yes," he agreed…I was dead."
Poseidon sucked in a breath through his teeth as the feeling of suffocation seized him again, this time worse than before, seeing as it had to match the description of being near death. The worst part was the helplessness with his body unable to do anything at all to stop what was happening to him. It was another gut punch to think about how that was exactly Percy had felt but it was actually happening to him. Here, he knew that he just had to read but, then, Percy would not have known if he was going to live or not. Poseidon tried taking deep breaths while the others urged Castor to continue reading and the younger god was more than happy to comply.
His voice quavered…like a real hero.
The curse lightened before it vanished completely, leaving Poseidon slightly dizzy.
"Everybody has the same description at first sight for you, don't they?" Lee chuckled at Percy.
"I thought he was a good, if I'm being honest." Hazel said sheepishly. Percy chuckled at her.
"That's flattering, Haze." He said.
"You aren't that wrong, you know." Aphrodite told Hazel amusedly. "In either sense. That is, whether you meant similar to a god or with the aura of a god." She said.
"Who can blame her?" Annabeth said under her breath.
Only now, she knew…I can't—"
"I wasn't getting your hopes up. I was telling you that I would not let anything like that happen to you." Percy told Hazel.
"You couldn't promise that to her." Athena told him. Percy turned to look at her.
"I'd go to the underworld and argue with all sorts of arguments with Uncle Hades if it meant giving Hazel a second chance at life." Percy told her. Hades gave a light chuckle.
"I don't think I'd need that much convincing." He admitted.
The window creaked…muskeg," he said.
They all chuckled.
"That's a good haul." Clarisse nodded approvingly.
From a local tourist…I found the perfect place."
Percy and Thalia grinned and snorted.
"You're definitely one of us." Thalia said. Frank grinned at her.
Frank led them to…it's treacherous—icebergs
Nico started humming 'my heart will go on' at the mention of icebergs, making everybody burst out laughing. Percy turned to Poseidon.
"Why would you let the boat hit the iceberg?! Jack and Rose were in love!" He said dramatically. Poseidon looked highly amused at that.
"I told you before! Amphitrite took my doritos." Poseidon told him. Percy snickered. Amphitrite rolled her eyes playfully at Poseidon.
"Food is a good reason then." Percy said.
"It was such a tragic lovestory." Aphrodite sighed.
Mazes of channels…began to croak at them.
"Call Arion." Demeter said suddenly.
"That's what we did." Hazel said, her face breaking into a wide grin.
Hazel shivered…only family she had.
"You're not going to get rid of me that easily." Nico told Hazel with a smile.
"Yeah, we'd bring you back to life and then send you to your dad the hard way again." Thalia told Nico.
"Oh definitely." Hazel and Percy nodded.
She stared at her…fur like a wet dog.
"How was that so convenient?" Rachel shook her head.
"Practice." Percy answered simply.
Frank grunted…best—horse—EVER!
Demeter and Poseidon chuckled at that.
"That he is." Poseidon said.
Now, get on…the sea to steam.
A few people whistled at that.
"Chapter's done." Castor said.
"Lets take a break." Chiron said. He figured that now was the proper time, seeing as it was right before the major fights took place.
