For Hitomi, this should have been an ordinary trip home from work. Taking the train back to her prefecture, she only had to walk a few minutes to make it back to her apartment. However, today was different. After a brief scare from a freak thunderstorm (probably caused by someone's Quirk), she noticed that three men were following her from work, across the train, and now in the street. She tried her best to throw them off her trail, but nothing seemed to work. Sadly, her luck ran out when she ducked into an alley that was a dead end. She turned to face her three followers.
The man in the middle wore a casual suit. What set him apart was the large cowboy hat he wore on his head and the rope he wore on his belt. The man on her left was shorter than her and also wore a suit. His most striking feature was his large, impeccable mustache. And finally, the man on the right wore more casual clothes. He was a giant of a man with the head of an ox.
"W-What do you want from me?" Hitomi asked.
"Aw, nothin' much, little lady," the man with the whip said in a country accent. "It's just our boss informed us that the contents of that there briefcase needs to be delivered to an alternate location ASAP."
"And it needs to be provided by some of the most dependable people," The mustached man said. "Sadly, that doesn't include you."
"You can't!" Hitomi pleaded. "This is my life's work!" She clutched the briefcase like it was her lifeline.
"Sorry, missius," The whip man said. "That's how it's gotta be."
The man uncoupled his whip from his belt. The rope sprang to life like it was alive and snapped itself around the woman's ankles. Hitomi fell but quickly scrambled back up, took the case, and ran.
The whip man sighed. "She's got spunk. Too much spunk. Ox, hold her."
"You got it," The ox man said.
Hitomi fled deeper into the alley. Unable to feel, she tried to do some damage to Ox. Hitting, clawing, throwing whatever she could get her hands on. Nothing seemed to phase the giant as he grabbed her in a bear hug. Hitomi continued to struggle, despite the futility of it.
"Hey, Kobe, I got her, now-" Ox turned around, only to find both of his compatriots gone. "Where'd everybody go?"
"Yoo-hoo, big guy," A voice from the shadows called out. Ox looked around before the voice spoke up again. "Up here."
Both Ox and Hitomi looked up to see a costumed man clinging to the side of the alley wall. The lower section of his arms and everything from the torso under was black, hidden in the shadows of the alley. The rest of the costume was red, except for the eyes which were white. These lenses were tear shaped with the back curving down the head then back up. Loose sections of the red segments around the arms and torso moved in the wind almost like they were…alive. This masked man launched off the wall and landed on the ground on all fours, posed like a spider.
"You know, this isn't really the best way to ask a girl out," The man stood back up. "So, how about this: you let this nice lady go, and you and your friends get a nice trip to jail without getting your butt kicked. How's that sound?"
Ox snorted, blowing steam from his nose. "You must think I'm stupid if I'm going to listen to some hotshot newbie. Me and my friends took down bigger Heroes than you!"
"You sure you're seeing right? Because I'm pretty certain it's just me and you right now. Also, I think your friends are a bit tied up at the moment."
The hero pointed to two spots behind him. On opposite sides of the alley, both of Ox's companions were confined several feet above the ground in some red and black goop. Both of them struggled against the chains fruitlessly.
"So, you wanna do this the easy way or the hard way?" The hero's tone conveyed that he was smirking under that mask.
This hero's attitude enraged Ox, who tossed Hitomi on the ground rough and charged right at the hero. The hero drew low to the ground, anticipating Ox's stampede. As Ox drew almost right on top of him, the hero sprang into action. He unleashed a kick right into Ox's chin as the Hero used the other foot to launch him in the air. As Ox was dazed, the hero descended down, cupping his hands together and landed a sledgehammer on Ox's head. The hero didn't let up his assault, rushing in and landing two gut punches into Ox. The hero then landed a roundhouse kick that sent Ox spinning a full 360 before falling on the ground unconscious.
"That's 3 for 3, folks! Another knockout win for the undisputed champion!" The masked individual gloated to himself before relaxing. The man fired some strange red and black sticky substance on Ox's hands and feet, trapping the villain.
Hitomi watched all of this in silent shock. This new hero, noticing her still on the floor, shot a line towards the briefcase and gently approached her. The hero offered his hand.
"You need help, ma'am? Those guys won't be bothering anyone for a while." The hero said.
Hitomi took the hand and stood up. She accepted the briefcase as she surveyed the alley.
"That was…amazing," Hitmoi said after a brief period. "How were you able to take all of them out so fast?"
"Being quick and quiet is one of my specialties," the hero answered, stretching like this was just a light exercise. "Plus, that big guy may have been built like an ox, but he was dumb like one too."
Hitomi took that in before hearing a 'THWIP' as the hero shot a line towards the top of a building.
"Hey, mind calling the police for me so we can get these boys some nice, comfy cells?" The hero asked.
Hitomi grabbed her savior's shoulder and said, "Wait! Who are you? What's your name?"
The hero's mask seemed to shift into a surprised look. It appeared the man was thinking about it before answering.
"We're - um, I'm your…friendly neighborhood Toxin."
With that, the hero known as Toxin launched himself out of the alley and into the air, swinging on buildings till he was out of sight.
Okay, just so we're all on the same page.
My name is Bren Waters, and for almost the past year, I've been the one and only Toxin.
It all started when I got bonded to an alien symbiote. It gave me powers, and I gave it food to survive. We decided to use our powers to help people, though it wasn't always easy trying to hide that from my dad.
We've faced off against crime, corrupt corporations, and alien invasions with other people who had their own symbiotes.
I was on my own, minding my own business, when this lightning bolt hit me. A great flash of light later, and now I'm no longer in good ol' NYC. I've gotta find some way to get back home. Somehow.
Toxin swung through the air of this unknown city. Both boy and symbiote took note of all the differences between their home of New York and this city. For one, the city was a whole lot cleaner than home. The air felt nicer, the river water looked drinkable, and there was barely any litter on the ground whatsoever. Couple with the writing on signs and such, Toxin guessed that they were not even in America.
You think we're in Japan? Bren thought to his other half. If that's so, then how come that lady and those bozoos understood us?
Maybe it's a side effect of whatever brought us here, the symbiote, also called Toxin, thought. Shame we couldn't get a little snack out of them.
Dude, you've gotta stop with the 'casually eating people' shtick if we're going to be considered heroes.
Speaking of heroes, this whole city seems to be brimming with them. You couldn't go a few blocks without seeing another costumed crimefighter fighting a supervillain, interacting with fans, or just on patrol. In fact, it seemed this city like heroes a bit too much. Merchandise of heroes was proudly displayed in store fronts. People of all shapes and sizes wore casual clothing with a hero's face, or body, or icon on it. Every product, no matter how mundane or how grandiose, seemed to have a superhero sponsoring it.
Man, these people make Tony Stark look reserved in terms of ads. Bren commented. Everyone here has some form of superhero mania.
Makes you think if they're just casual fanboys or the really hardcore types, Toxin included.
The final thing that stuck out to the duo is how casually mutants were out in the open. Back home, mutants were still a minority, subject to oppression and distrust. While New York was always an open place, mutant pride took a backseat to other fights against discrimination and was not focused on as much. And this is after it got better over the years of the X-Men being active. Bren read horror stories of what they used to do to mutants. Here, mutants seemed to be mingling with regular humans with no problem. It was peaceful, despite the occasional supervillain attacks.
After hours of web-slinging, Toxin took a perch on one of the buildings. They just sat there, watching the people go by.
"Man, how are we ever going to get home, Toxin?" Bren asked out loud. "We don't know where we are, how we got here, or anything that can help us get back to New York."
"I figure we may need to look deeper into some of the superheroes," Toxin offered. "If they're anything like the ones' back home, they must have a Reed Richards or a Tony Stark type who can build a way back."
"Yeah, maybe," Bren sighed. "God, Dad's going to be worried sick if we don't make it back in time."
"Don't worry, we'll get back home." Toxin paused. "You smell that? Like something's burning?"
Bren looked around until he saw a large plume of smoke arising from a city street.
"Yeah, that's definitely not a cook-out." Bren said. "Come on, we gotta help."
Sticking two web lines on poles, Toxin pulled himself back and slingshot himself across the roofs. Rolling upon landing, the symbiotic hero ran across rooftops before finally arriving at the scene.
It was a fiery hell. Flames burned from buildings, cars, and whatnot. Bren could feel Toxin's apprehension of getting closer. Fire was one of the symbiote's main weaknesses besides sound. Walking in there would be like walking in the front row of a rock concert with the speakers at max.
Off at the end of the street, a large crowd stood behind the few fences and stared at the destruction. Police and ambulances were present, but they too held their positions behind the line. Three superheroes stood at the ready. One was a guy with huge arms, another was a man covered in bark, and the third was a giant lady with horns. However, the three didn't make a move, only standing back and keeping the crowd safe.
In the middle of the inferno, a large moving pile of sludge stood. It oozed and morphed, and while Toxin couldn't hear it over the sound of the flames, they could tell this thing was laughing. In fact, it acted like a man. As the sludge man moved around, Bren could make the outline of someone in the middle of the sludge pile. Using Toxin's advanced senses, they discovered that there was not only someone, but a kid inside that thing. The boy trapped tried to claw his way out, but nothing he did let him out of the mucky prison.
There's a kid trapped in there! Bren thought. And none of those heroes are doing anything but watching!
To be fair, I get the tree guy. Fire beats wood, after all, Toxin added. On the other two, you can at least say that lady is way too big to properly fight this. Hands McGee can at least throw a punch or something.
If nobody does something, that kid is going to suffocate! Come on, Toxin, we're going in!
Before Toxin could spring into action, a kid broke off from the crowd and sprinted towards the living sludge. The kid took off his backpack and made a wild throw with it. The backpack landed squarely into the sludge man's eyes. As the sludge man was stunned, the boy desperately clawed at it, trying to save the other boy trapped inside. Unfortunately, this was for naught, as the ooze slowly began to envelope the rescuer as well.
Toxin fired a web line onto the other side of the street. Grabbing onto the web rope, they stood ready.
Well, here goes nothing. Bren thought.
You sure we can't find another situation like this that isn't in a giant furnace? Toxin whined.
Nope, now let's ride.
The pair leapt down and swung across the street. The crowd gasped and pointed as they saw a newcomer entering the fray. Toxin sung in close to the sludge monster's face.
"Head's up!" Toxin shouted.
The sludge villain could only look up in surprise before Toxin's swinging kick tore through his head. Bits of sludge and eyes splattered on the road as Toxin reached the height of his swing, let go, and flipped onto the street. The heat was immediate, an almost suffocating feeling for the symbiote. Still, they had a job to do.
Toxin leaped over the reforming sludge pile and grabbed the boy who ran in. Toxin leapt again over to where the heroes and the line was before putting the kid down.
The boy, who had a mop of green hair and freckles, wildly tried to go back in.
"Wait! Kacchan, he's still trapped! He needs help!" The boy cried out.
"Don't worry, I'll get your friend out of there," Toxin promised. A few police officers grabbed a hold of the boy and dragged him back to safety.
Toxin once again leaped into the fire. The sludge man had already reformed, and the boy trapped inside only had his eyes and a bit of blond hair visible.
"If this is your idea of an open-air spa, then you seriously gotta rethink your strategy," Toxin quipped as they tried to think of a way to get that kid out.
The sludge growled. "Seriously, what is with all these heroes getting into my business? I'm going to take this kid as my puppet, and there' nothing you can do about it!"
The sludge sent out tendrils of muck, to which Toxin dodged with leaps and flips.
"Aw, why did you have to make it worse for yourself? Do you know how wrong that sounds?" Toxin said as they fired web shots into the sludge.
Most of the symbiotes shots did nothing but sink into the sludge. However, one lucky shot managed to hit the villain in the eyes, stunning him.
"Argh!" The sludge cried out. "My eyes! Why do they always go for the eyes?!"
"I think it's because they look like big targets." Toxin said as they rushed in up close.
Toxin clawed at the sludge, pulling away chunks. However, no matter how much he tears out, the sludge always reforms. At least he gave Kacchan several seconds of fresh air before the sludge overtook him once more.
"I already told that stupid brat and those wannabe heroes that they can't do anything to me!" The sludge villain gloated. "You can punch all you like, and I still won't go down! What are you going to do against that, hero?!"
"Oh, I'll think of something," Toxin said as he prepared his next course of action.
"This is going to be so gross," Bren mumbled as he plunged his hand into the mass of the sludge villain.
Fighting against the instinct to hurl, Toxin dug further into the mass until he felt his hand brush against Kacchan's clothes. Seizing the opportunity, Toxin stuck his hand to the boy and pulled as hard as he can. Despite feeling some effort being made, the boy was still trapped in there.
"What were you planning do there, huh?" The sludge mocked. "You think you're clever getting trapped alongside this brat?"
"It's not that part that I think shines on my cleverness," Toxin said before firing another strand of web into the sludge villain's eyes. "I think it's this part!"
Toxin turned and fired a web line onto a streetlamp. Using that as an anchor, Toxin pulled with his symbiote-augmented strength. Curling his arms, he managed to pull Kacchan right out of sludge villain. The force of Toxin's pulling strength sent them flying to one of the building's walls. Toxin grabbed hold of Kacchan and landed safely on the building, sticking to its side. However, it was near one of the open fires, causing Toxin to leap again near the boundary line.
Kacchan looked like he'd seen better days. He was covered in bits of sludge and was coughing up a mean storm as well. As Toxin landed, he handed Kacchan to one of the first responders.
"Hey, make sure he gets some medical treatment," Toxin said. "Who knows what was inside that guy, but I can bet it was nothing good. Now, if you excuse me, I have to go and do some clean up duty."
With that Toxin leapt away from the crowd and heroes and landed back in the inferno. The sludge villain fully reformed. His face contorted in rage and hatred.
"All that work for nothing! Do you know the amount of effort it took to subdue that little brat?!" The sludge villain howled.
"No, but I do hope this teaches you a lesson," Toxin quipped. "That you don't need others to fill that hole inside you. That you be a holistic sludge monster."
The villain yelled and sent tendrils at Toxin. The hero dodged and maneuvered around, firing web shots, or getting up close for some physical hits.
"So, what's your secert origin? Fell down into a pile of radioactive sewage waste?" Toxin quipped.
"Do you ever shut up?!" The sludge monster screamed.
"Nah, constantly being a smartass comes along with the powers and the suit. It's all in the contract, you understand?"
Like the villain said, all of Toxin's attacks did nothing to slow it down. The webs just got absorbed, and the blows never did any lasting damage. On top of that, the fire was starting to negatively affect Toxin. The symbiote covering Bren's body began to slowly melt and lose vitality. Toxin knew he needed to end this now, but how? Toxin took not that a section of a building's wall was almost ready to fall down.
Maybe we can trap him, Toxin thought.
The sludge villain sent out tendrils to attack Toxin. The symbiotic hero leapt over them, landing on his hands, and used them as a springboard to slam his feet directly into the villain's teeth. The villain was pushed back and screamed profanities at the hero. Toxin fired two web lines that sailed past the sludge villain and onto the loose wall.
"I don't know about you," Toxin pulled his web lines. The crumbling of the wall became more pronounced as it broke apart from the building. "But I love it when a plan falls together!"
The wall broke off, and gravity took its course. The sludge villain could only look above him and scream as the wall smushed him underneath. Toxin's arms dropped to his side as he took concentrated breaths.
However, this isn't the end. Underneath the felled wall, sludge oozed out from the cracks. It slithered and combined with one another until the Sludge Villain had completely reformed itself!
"This is cosmic punishment for the pun, you know that?" Toxin noted.
Bren groaned and dodged the sludge villain's frenzied attacks. By now, Toxin was on the back end. The heat had started to take serious effect. Toxin was slower, weaker, and was now taking hits from the sludge villain.
We need to flee now. Toxin advised in thought. This is basically a lost cause now.
Bren wanted to disagree, to keep fighting. But now, Bren thought he didn't even have the strength to flee. This may be it for Toxin.
A sudden sense urged, no screamed for Toxin to dodge. One of the many powers Toxin provided was a sixth sense that could predict danger and detect people. This symbiote sense was now blaring at Toxin to move out of the way, as something powerful was coming. Toxin leaped back from the sludge villain, leaving it alone.
"DETROIT SMASH!"
Toxin felt it before he saw it. A sudden surge of wind knocked Toxin into a wall and kept him there. It was like being caught in the worse part of a hurricane. Eventually, the wind died down, and Toxin felt rain on his suit.
Standing where he had been, Toxin saw a man with enough muscles to rival the Hulk. A giant of a man stood in a punching motion with the sludge villain nowhere to be seen. Toxin also saw that all of the fires had gone out and that it had started raining. This man, this hero, had changed the weather with a punch.
Whoa. Just…whoa. Toxin thought.
You said it. Bren agreed.
After a while, clean-up crews came to fix up the damage. People crowed around the big man, called All Might, praising him for defeating the villain. Other heroes took turns helping with damages to interacting with fans. Toxin had slipped away after All Might's defeat of the sludge villain, now perching onto one of the more stable roofs. Toxin was a little miffed about not being discussed about his role in the whole event, but what can you do? Maybe someone will post on social media.
Toxin's gaze fell over the two boys he rescued. The blonde one who was trapped was getting medical attention, as well as presumable kind words. The other boy, however, appeared to be getting scolded by heroes and cops for running in.
At least he did something while the rest of you stood there, Toxin commented. Bren was inclined to agree.
"Excuse me, but I don't think I got your name." A sudden voice caused Toxin to turn and see the tree man hero behind him. "You were gone so quickly after All Might save the day."
"Yeah, well," Toxin got up and stretched. "The big guy had it handled, so I figured I let him handle the police stuff."
"You sound like you do not get along with the police," The wood man mused before shaking his head. "My apologies, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Kamui Woods. What is yours?"
"Oh, we're using hero names. Well, I'm Toxin." The symbiotic hero introduced himself. "I usually just beat the bad guy and let the police handle the rest. Last time I hung around them, they were very insistent they didn't want my help."
Of course, the last time Toxin tried to get on the good graces of the NYPD, it was when he accidentally sent a supervillain through a squad car. The officers were not too pleased about that.
"Hm, that's strange," Kamui Woods mused. "All registered heroes usually are required to cooperate with law enforcement."
"Ah, I see," Toxin nodded. "…wait, registered?"
"Yes, all heroes need to be registered in order to have a license to do hero work. You do know that, right?"
"Oh, it's just most superheroes I know of don't really talk about their licenses or even having one…"
"Performing hero work without a license is vigilantism and a crime. That means I have to take you in," Kamui Woods declared. "Lacquered Chain Prison!"
The wood hero sent out branches from his arms. They tied around Toxin restraining them.
"Hey, what the hell?!" Toxin cried. "I save two kids and fight a villain, and this is the thanks I get?!"
"While you may have had good intentions, your actions endangered not only your own life but others as well!" Kamui Woods explained. "We're going to the police station and have a nice long chat about proper hero work."
"Sorry, but I don't do well in police stations. Plus, I'd rather not get splinters from you carrying me there."
Toxin flexed and broke the wooden holdings. He quickly fired a web shot at one of Kamui Woods's feet and dived off the building. Before the Wood Hero could free himself, Toxin was already web-swinging far away.
That sucked, Toxin commented. How far was that stick shoved up Bark Boy's ass?
Too far, if you ask me, Bren answered. Let's lie low for a while.
It had been two days since they arrived in this city, now known as Musutafu, in Japan. Toxin had to sleep under bridges or in web hammocks. Bren's measly earnings in his wallet could supply them with food but not for long. As the duo searched for a place to rest and a way home, they did some research.
Turns out they weren't just in a different country, but a different Earth as well. None of the superheroes Bren knew existed here. No Avengers, no Fantastic Four, no X-Men, nothing. Not even Spider-Man. Plus, some countries were just not there. No Wakanda, no Latveria, whole countries non-existent.
Born superpowers called Quirks were the norm of this Earth. Nearly everyone had one, and it caused so much trouble in the past. Quirks, unlike mutants or other powers, quickly destabilized society because they were so powerful, plus people with Quirks kept popping up. Now, nearly 80% of people in the world have a Quirk.
It was also thanks to this Quirk revolution that technology had stagnated since the late 2010's. So, unless some super genius was keeping the secret of multiversal travel locked up in their basement, Bren was stuck here for the foreseeable future.
Still, it wasn't all bad. Bren did want to go visit Japan at least once, and he was here. Just for an unknown amount of time.
Toxin's actions had not been unnoticed by the media. His fight with the Sludge Villain had made the news, and he had been quickly labelled as a dangerous vigilante by the media. It didn't help that Bren would suit up as Toxin whenever he saw something bad happening, fueling the media's fire. Of course, public opinion was more nuanced. Some fully believed in the media, treating vigilante as a synonym for villain. Others appreciated Toxin's good work, even if he wasn't properly registered. But what of our symbiotic hero?
Toxin, appearing just as Bren, had just gotten done watching a particularly scathing report of his fight with the Sludge Villain. The newscaster went on and on about how Toxin was nothing more than a glory-seeking showboat getting in the way of "the real heroes". He even dropped a line about how kids might be tempted to follow in his "dangerous vigilante activities".
"Man, is this what Spider-Man goes through with J. Jonah Jameson all the time?" Bren asked himself as he walked away from the display TV.
"Perhaps we should give Mister 'Think of the Children' our real thoughts, hmm?" Toxin proposed.
"No, we're not doing that." Bren rebuked the symbiote. "Still, I can't believe Spider-Man would let the Bugle have exclusive pictures of him and smear his image for so long without trying to sue them."
"Who knows what the Web Head's thinking is? All I know is that I wouldn't take that lying down."
"Yeah, yeah, I get it."
As they were walking down the street, a car sped down an adjacent street. It seemed like it was unable to slow down as it barreled down at full speed. A car horn alerted the pedestrians to move out of the way, but one girl stood frozen. Bren saw this, and without thinking, took off.
"Look out!" Bren yelled as he talked the girl out of the way. The two skidded along the sidewalk as the car crashed into a building. Cop cars and a hero arrived to inspect the scene. Bren stood up before noticing the girl he rescued.
She was around the same age as him, judging by the school uniform. Her hair was black that faded into orange and ran down to her shoulder blades. Her eyes were a light blue, and the pupil was slightly slit. Her canines were a bit more pronounced as her mouth hung in the air. She was sort of attractive, you know, for someone who was still reeling from almost getting hit by a speeding car.
"Um, do you need help?" Bren asked.
The girl whirled to look at Bren.
"Oh, sorry, yeah, just let me," The girl held out her hand, and Bren took it.
With slight effort, Bren pulled this girl up to her feet. She dusted off her uniform and took a big breath in.
"Wow, that was…" The girl said before collecting her thoughts. "You saved me."
"Yeah, sorry about that," Bren answered without thinking. "I mean, you're welcome. It was just the right thing to do."
"Well, I'm lucky you were there. I do not want to think about what might have happened if you weren't there."
"So," Bren said, trying to break the silence. "You go to school around here?"
"Yeah, I do." The girl answered. "It's a couple blocks down. It's got a big statue at the entrance; you can't miss it."
"Oh."
"Well, I better get going."
With that, the girl started to leave. However, with a little nudging from Toxin, Bren went back up to meet her.
"Wait, I need to know something. Do you know of a place where people can stay when they're…in between houses?"
The girl's face turned into one of pity. "Are you saying you're homeless?"
"A little."
"I know just the place," The girl dug around in her backpack before pulling out a pen and a piece of paper. She quickly scribbled down an address before handing it to Bren.
"This is the address for the Sanctuary House in Musutafu. It's a place where people who don't have homes have somewhere to get themselves back on their feet." The girl explained. "It's actually one of the many charity organizations ran by All Might, but it's pretty low-key compared to his other projects."
Bren took the paper and looked over it. One of the many strange occurrences since entering this world was his ability to read and understand kanji. The symbols and meaning sort of clicked for him. He couldn't really explain it.
"How do you know about this place if it's not that big?" Bren asked.
"I volunteer there from time to time." The girl answered. "It looks good on a resume, and I get to help people at the same time. Hey, maybe I'll run into you there during one of my shifts."
"Yeah, maybe." Bren nodded. "Oh, hey, I didn't get your name."
The girl gave a small smile. "It's Sekiryo Nishi, but most of my friends just call me Ryo."
Bren smiled. "My name is Bren Waters."
Ryo looked up in surprise. "Oh, are you a foreigner?"
"Yeah, I kinda got lost here and can't find a way to get back," Bren told a half-truth.
"What about your parents? Do they know where you are?"
"I haven't talked to my mom in years," Bren answered solemnly. "And my dad tends to be busy with work."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Ryo offered condolences.
"Don't worry, just family stuff. I'll go check out that Sanctuary House. Thanks for the tip!"
"You're welcome!" And with that, Ryo left for school.
Bren looked at the card then back at the leaving Ryo. Bren pocketed the card before ducking into an alley and letting Toxin out. The duo scampered up a wall before firing a web line.
"You think they'll serve chocolate there, Bren?" Toxin asked hungrily.
"I hope so, Tox. We could use a break, and I think this is it." Bren said.
Toxin swung off towards the Sanctuary House with hope renewed and spirits high.
Hey everyone, thank you for reading! So, yeah, new semi-crossover story between MHA and Toxin. For those not in the know, Toxin is the son of the symbiote Carnage and the grandson of Venom. He had his own six-issue series before just appearing in Venom. He then went MIA for years before showing up in the King in Black event tie-ins and the Extreme Carnage event. He's set to appear in Venom (Vol. 5) #23, so that's cool. Bren Waters is his most recent host around this time, who's a teen. He's around 14-15 in this story.
In fact, those who follow me know that this isn't my first time writing about Bren/Toxin. I had a story called All New, All Different Toxin, which focused on their beginnings. It didn't last very long, but I like it nonetheless.
And so, next time: Bren and Toxin try to keep a low profile, but trouble always seems to follow them. Do they decide to follow the law and become Pro Heroes, or do they follow their hearts and become vigilantes?
That's all I have for now. See ya next time!
