Although Harvey and Donna's resignations from the firm were painful, their excitement to start their lives together in Seattle, alongside their closest friends, provided them with the incentive they needed to push through their tearful goodbyes. Having opted to postpone their honeymoon to expedite their move and limit the chance they changed their minds, the newlyweds were packed and ready to start the cross-country trip 10 days after their impromptu wedding. They had 5 days before they officially started their new positions at Zane Ross; Harvey as a Senior Partner and Donna as the firm's COO. The couple negotiated with their new bosses to ensure they could plan a getaway to relish in their marital bliss once their new roles had been solidified. Mike was a hard sell, thrilled to finally wield the upper hand over his mentor and friend, but he had no chance of standing his ground when it came to Donna. Especially considering his wife would have put him in the doghouse if he didn't stifle his ego.
Despite the promise of their European getaway, Donna was hellbent on experiencing all of the joys of married life with her beau in as many states as possible. In true Donna fashion, she had strategically planned the couple's road trip down to the nth degree to ensure they would arrive with time to organize their new apartment before their start date.
Donna awoke early on the morning of their move filled with equal parts of excitement and fear. Unlike Harvey, Donna had grown up in Manhattan and never imagined herself anywhere else. Thanks to how quickly their lives had changed recently, she hadn't really taken the time to process her anxieties about the move. Instead, she had thrown herself into all aspects of planning what was to come rather than thinking about the reality of it all. This morning, however, there were no more boxes to pack, paperwork to fill out, or hotels to book.
"Her eyes fluttered open to see Harvey sound asleep pressed against her shoulder, his arm wrapped around her waist and leg tangled with her own. She softly played with tuffs of his hair and instantly felt a warm calm flood her body. Although Manhattan may have been her home, Harvey had become it. Wherever he was, she knew she would be fiercely protected and unconditionally loved. A soft smile spread across her face as she turned her head to place a soft peck on his forehead; with it, the fear seemingly dissipated from her body.
"Turning slowly to look at the clock on their nightstand, Donna decided to get a jump start on her morning. Although Harvey was normally in charge of breakfast, she decided to surprise him for their last day in their first home. Donna carefully separated herself from Harvey to avoid waking him. He grunted a little but quickly settled back into a peaceful slumber as Donna slinked away to take a warm shower.
About an hour later, Donna returned to their bedroom wearing a flowy emerald green sundress that perfectly accentuated her bust and nude sandals. In her hands, she held a bag of warm bagels from the cart on the corner and two cups of vanilla coffee. The aroma wafted through the air and Harvey stirred. "Good morning handsome", Donna whispered as she placed their breakfast on his nightstand before bending over to stroke his back. Harvey hummed and rolled over with his eyes still closed but lips puckered. Donna rolled her eyes sarcastically murmuring, "If you want a kiss Harv, the least you could do is open your eyes and tell me how good I look". Harvey pouted boyishly, "I don't have to look to know how beautiful you are". Donna playfully swatted his shoulder and he cracked open his eyes. Harvey's signature grin split across his face before he sat up to kiss his wife. Their soft greeting quickly morphed into a silent conversation of passion as Harvey devilishly wrapped his arms around Donna and tossed her back into their bed before rolling on top of her. "You look absolutely ravishing Mrs. Specter" Harvey whispered as he reached up and grabbed the bag of bagels with his right hand. Donna giggled before snatching a bagel out of Harvey's hand before he had the chance to take his first bite. "No eating in bed mister", she wagged her finger playfully before shimmying out from under him and dashing towards the kitchen. Harvey followed quickly behind her with their coffees.
After they finished eating, Harvey retreated to their bathroom to shower and get dressed while Donna called the moving company that had left with some of their larger belongings the day prior to make the trip to Seattle. She also wanted to check and make sure the large vehicle they had rented would be ready for Ray to pick up and drop off at their penthouse so they could load the last of the items left. The company assured her that everything was in order and she texted Ray to give him the go-ahead. "Harvey, you have 30 minutes before Ray will be here", she paused waiting for a response before adding, "and no need to spend 20 minutes on your hair for a road trip". She snickered when she heard his exasperated grunt.
Harvey emerged just in time wearing tan cargo shorts, a white collared polo with an emerald green logo stitched into the pocket, and loafers. Recently, Harvey had made an effort to plan his outfits to compliment his wife's. For one, she had great style so if he dressed accordingly, he knew he could never go wrong. But more importantly, although he would never admit it out loud, it gave him a sense of pride to physically represent their new titles as Mr. and Mrs. Specter; a matching set that perfectly complimented each other. Harvey strolled confidently out to his wife and took her hand as they walked out to meet Ray, load the vehicle, and say their bittersweet goodbyes to their beloved driver who had become an extension of their family over the years.
Harvey and Donna waived as Ray left in a taxi and Donna leaned her head against Harvey's shoulder as they walked back into their building for one last look around the penthouse. As they walked in, Donna's breath hitched and Harvey pulled her closer. "What's the matter Don?", a slightly concerned look in his eyes. "I just wasn't prepared for how it would feel when everything was gone" she replied in a hushed tone while looking down at his hand around her waist. "It just doesn't feel quite like our home anymore…", a single tear escaped and rolled down her cheek. Harvey reached up with his thumb and wiped it away before tilting her chin up to look into her eyes. As their eyes met, words felt too small to communicate his love, adoration, and thankfulness toward his new bride. Instead, he pulled her into a tight embrace before placing a long kiss on her lips. When they parted, a peaceful smile replaced her once quivering lip. Harvey squeezed her hand before slowly walking away to check for any last belongings. Donna headed towards the balcony to take in the morning Manhattan skyline one final time.
After a few minutes had passed, Donna felt her phone buzz. She looked down to see a text from Louis Litt. As she opened it, she was greeted by the sweetest image of Louis and his baby daughter Lucy with a handmade sign wishing the newlyweds safe travels. His accompanying text message demanded she kept him and the others at the firm informed throughout their drive to ensure their safety and threatened to fly up to Seattle himself if they didn't plan a trip to come visit before Lucy's first birthday. Donna chuckled responding with a simple heart emoji before noticing the time. They needed to head out to stay on schedule and make it to Chicago that evening. They had planned to meet up with Jessica for breakfast the next morning before continuing their trip, and she didn't want to be too tired when they arrived to ensure they could have some fun before turning in for the night. Taking one last look out over the city she loved, she turned to walk back inside to retrieve her husband and convince him to get going.
"Harvey, I swear if you aren't out here in 2 minutes I'm leaving without you", Donna jested while tapping her foot on the kitchen floor of the penthouse. He chuckled and slowly rolled back the door to their bedroom to reveal his Cheshire smile and a can of whipped cream in his hand. Donna couldn't help but let a gasp escape as she ogled her husband's nearly naked body standing pressed seductively against the doorframe. Harvey raised his eyebrow and slowly stepped forward allowing the sun to perfectly sculpt his jawline and chest. "We can't leave before I get the chance to properly thank you for breakfast", he smirked as his wife noticed the carton of strawberries he had pulled from behind his back.
"You can't seriously think-", Donna was cut off as Harvey closed the space between them and slipped a strawberry into her open mouth before kissing down her neck passionately. Donna moaned softly as Harvey guided her backward towards the kitchen island and lifted her up with ease. Instinctively her legs wrapped around him as he placed her on the cool ledge of the countertop, their lips moving together in a passionate dance. Slightly pausing to take a breath, Donna tried to regain some control of the situation. "Mr. Specter, what on earth has gotten into you", she breathed in a flustered whisper. Grinning cockily Harvey responded, "Just ensuring Mrs. Specter remembers why exactly she could never leave without me". Before Donna had the chance to form a witty comeback, Harvey had lifted up her sundress and dispensed a long line of whipped cream from her knee to the inside of her thigh. Bending down, he slowly licked the sweet foam up ending his trail at the lace waistband of Donna's baby blue thong. Donna's body felt as if each and every nerve was enslaved to his touch, firing all over her body as she hummed with pleasure. Harvey gingerly kissed the soft skin around her hips and abdomen before snaking a finger around the band of her panties to slip the thin garment off. Donna lifted her hips to assist him, accepting that her detailed travel itinerary would have to be shifted slightly to accommodate their sweet morning delight.
