Chapter One: Strange boy

Writing a story that included All Might being long time friends with Goku made me wonder just how that would change OG Dragon Ball, and because of that, I took it upon myself to rewrite the story as a whole, starting from the beginning.

So, instead of the story of Izuku and Gohan, now you all get to see the story of the World's Strongest and the Symbol of Peace, long before either gained that title.

Dragon Ball Hunt: Chapter 1 - ??

In a rarely travelled area in Japan, a region known as Mount Paozu, a car emblazoned with the Capsule Corporation logo zoomed across the road. Likely going well over the speed limit, the driver, a young woman named Bulma, had not a care in the world for the fact she was going nearly twenty miles per hour over what was legal.

There was a passenger in the vehicle next to her, a girl a couple years her junior. Her name was Inko, and they had been good friends for quite some time. She was one of the few people Bulma had learned to trust, and for that reason she was accompanying her on her quest.

"We should be getting close by now, shouldn't we?" Inko prompted, her green hair blowing in the wind. Bulma looked over to her friend, who looked visibly frightened by the speeds at which they were traversing the winding road. To accommodate this fear, Bulma slowed down to the legal limit before considering what Inko had said.

There was a good chance that they were getting close by now. Besides, she hadn't checked for ten miles at this point, so it was a good idea to double check. Slowing to a stop at the side of the road, Bulma stepped out of the vehicle. Inko remained inside as Bulma took out a small radar, designed to specifically search for seven small objects.

The screen flashed to life and Bulma stared down at it, seeing a blinking dot a few miles away. It seemed to be coming from the heart of the forest near the mountain. They would have to go down the road a ways before they could turn down into the forest. Sighing at the minor inconvenience, the ever impatient Bulma return to her vehicle, a gift from her father.

"We're almost there, we just gotta get to ground level," Bulma said as the door slammed behind her. The engine roared to life as she twisted the key and she continued to speed down the road. "I just hope this one isn't gonna be as much of a problem as the last," Bulma commented as she adjusted to the winding road.

Inko had a look of terror as she no doubt recalled the experience of having to flee a man with wings who had decided to try and steal the shiny orb from them, believing it to valuable to sell, which it would if the buyer had any clue of what the orb's true purpose was.

Because the orange ball with stars on it was not just a decorative piece, it was actually part of a set of seven, and when all were brought together one could summon the eternal dragon known as Shenron, who would grant any wish the summoner desired. Inko and Bulma were journeying to gather said orbs, known as Dragon Balls. They already had a few, and now they were in search of yet another.

"That wouldn't be the best..." Inko muttered, sounding rather nervous for whatever reason. Bulma frowned, her head snapping to meet Inko eye to eye. Despite being younger than her, Inko was almost the same height as Bulma.

"Is something wrong?" Bulma confronted, doing her best to sound relaxed but failing to do so. Not keeping her eyes on the road, she instinctually knew where to go based off of the patterns of the mountain so found no difficulty continuing to drive. Or at least, that's what she told herself.

Inko sighed. "It's that obvious?" Inko rhetorically questioned, her eyes not leaving the road. "I'm scared, Bulma. Really scared. Who knows how long it'll take us to find all of these things?"

Bulma smiled, "Look, we've already almost got more than half of them! There's no way it'll take us the entire summer!" she exclaimed. "Then when we get them we can make the perfect wish!"

"That's not the only thing I'm worried about though," Inko admitted. "That guy probably isn't gonna be the only person who'll try to get in our way. Let's be honest, you're Quirkless and I can move the smallest crap with my mind, what the hell are we gonna do in a fight?"

Bulma's smile flipped as her brows furrowed. She thought for a moment and found herself unable to come up with a reasonable answer. They really didn't stand a chance if, God forbid, some sort of villain was also after the Dragon Balls. Eventually, Bulma resorted to her basic response to such a situation. "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it."

Inko and Bulma locked eyes, a mental debate going on. Soon, Inko realized she wasn't in the position to argue, and her gaze returned to the road. "Bulma!" Inko suddenly screamed, her voice piercing the air like a knife. Wincing, Bulma too looked at the road and saw something rather peculiar.

There was a small boy with spiky black hair, dragging a giant fish across the road. He wore what looked like something a martial artist would wear, which only confused Bulma even more. At that moment, she remembered she was hurtling towards him at forty five miles per hour and slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. There was a collision.

The boy should've been sent flying, but instead the front of the vehicle crashed into him as it would a brick wall and it flipped through the air, landing on the passenger side.

In a frenzied state, Bulma unbuckled and positioned herself to where her upper half was poking out the open window. Grabbing the gun she had hidden away in the driver side door, Bulma pointed it at whatever the boy was, because no little kid should be capable of stopping a car in it's tracks.

The boy was pointing a red stick at her, or rather, the car. "That monster! It's eaten the witch!" he yelled, running towards her car and smacking it with his stick, denting the door.

"Hey!" Bulma yelled, dropping the gun. This boy was just some country bumpkin by the looks of it, apparently not even knowing what a car was, which was rather unbelievable. "I'm no witch, and this thing isn't a monster!" she protested.

"That's exactly what a monster would say!" he retorted, hitting her car one more time.

"Look, I'm not a witch, I'm a girl!" Bulma repeated as Inko crawled up to join her in staring at the odd boy.

"A girl?" he repeated, confused for a moment. At least it stopped him from hitting the car with that stick of his. "Oh yeah, I think my grandpa told me about girls! He said to treat them with respect!"

"You're grandpa sounds like a real gentlemen," Bulma complimented. "But you didn't seem to get that from him! What kind of gentleman attack a girl's car!" Bulma screeched.

"Calm down, Bulma," Inko soothed. "It's obvious he hasn't seen many other people," she reasoned, bending down to be at eye level with the boy. "Where are your parents?" she asked, ever the helpful person.

The boy shrugged, not looking too concerned about it. "I don't know, I never really knew them. I only ever really had my grandpa," he explained, surprisingly open with strangers.

"Had?" Bulma reiterated, stunned. "Did something happen to him?" Bulma asked, suddenly very concerned for the well being of this small, admittedly strange, boy. The boy nodded, not looking too sad, although from the brief time she knew him, Bulma had gathered that he was a rather carefree child.

The boy picked up the fish and began to drag it once more, as if nothing had happened to it in the first place. Bulma made sure the car returned to it's capsule and then followed him, wondering if this boy was leading them to the Dragon Ball, indirectly of course. "My grandpa was the one who raised me until I could take care of myself," he stated.

Stepping over a particularly large root, Bulma struggled to keep up with the boy even though he was taking a fish bigger than either of them along with him. "What happened?" Inko asked, surprisingly ahead of Bulma.

"One night, a really big monster came near our house and my grandpa had to fight it," he explained, his tone much more serious. "He beat it, but he died fighting it," he finished, before smiling. "He taught me everything I know, even how to fight!"

How he could be so happy despite not having any sort of parental figure for who knows how long, Bulma would never know.

"Hey, do you think we could take him with us?" Inko suggested, whispering in her ear so as to not be heard. "Before you say no, just think about it. You hit him with a car and it did more damage to the car than it did him!"

Bulma frowned, considering the prospect. "He's a weirdo, though," she responded. "I mean, he thought I was a witch! I don't wanna be travelling with someone like that," Bulma hissed, still seemingly going unheard by the boy.

"I can help with that!" Inko retorted. "I'll teach him everything he needs to know, and then some!"

Bulma sighed. "Fine, we could use the help anyways."

Inko smiled. "Exactly! Now we don't need to worry about people like that guy with wings." Bulma exhaled, glad to make her friend happy.

Inko approached the boy. "So, what's your name?" she asked, getting awfully close to him, showing the height difference. She was easily a foot taller than him, maybe even more. All that power was in someone as small as him, which seemed almost impossible. The strongest heroes were always so muscular, and yet the boy in front of her had next to none that she could see.

"I'm Goku, Son Goku!" he answered, as chipper as ever. He continued to march along, as happy as ever.

"Son Goku? That's a bit of a weird name," Bulma commented, causing Goku to yell at her.

Goku looked back at her. "My name's completely normal! What's your name, anyways?!"

Bulma groaned, not used to not being recognized. "It's on my shirt!" she exclaimed, gesturing towards the bold lettering on her pink shirt. "Bulma! Bulma Briefs, daughter of the founder of Capsule Corporation!"

Expecting a big reaction out of Goku, she was soon reminded that he was a hillbilly who knew nothing of civilized life, and as such, had no idea of what Capsule Corporation was.

"My name's Inko," she added awkwardly, hoping to change the subject from the brief argument. "And I don't think your name's weird at all."

Bulma shot an eye at Inko, beginning to wonder if she had caught feelings for this boy. There was no way, he was literally the strangest kid on the planet. He probably didn't even know what a bath was, and yet he was getting the attention of a pretty girl like Inko?

Not like she was as good looking as Bulma, no one was, but she still wasn't half bad. Perplexed, Bulma continued to follow the two to wherever Goku was heading to. With any luck, Goku wouldn't want to come with them on their journey. She didn't need Inko being distracted with any boy.
