This takes place with changed events of new moon. First off Jacob and Bella never dated and she always saw him as her brother. Second Edward never came back and there was no false suicide vision. Also, I may misspell some names once in a while point it out and I'll fix it if a notice it later on I will also fix it . This takes place 3 years later, Bella's age is 21.

Setting: This is a small rural town in upstate New York. Population less than 1,000. It's quite, usually very muggy. Very few sunny days

Chapter one

Carlise POV

It was a pretty quiet day, well for an emergency room at least. I worked about 3 hours away from home, it was the nearest hospital but that town is perfect for obvious reasons. The commute wasn't too bad.

Then the glass doors open with sirens. What was it this time, an accidental od? A kitchen accident? An allergic reaction?

"Female, 21. Car crash. Weak pulse and unconscious" is what the EMT said

I rushed her into the surgery room with some other doctors and nurses. Then I finally looked at her. It couldn't be. Bella?

" Do you know her doc?" one of the nurses asked

The look of shock must have been obvious on my face "Yes she is an old friend's kid. With her age being similar to mine they hung out a lot before the move"

"Well she is lucky to have you" she replied quickly before getting back to work

Just looking at her makes me want to cry a bit. Her injuries make it surprising she even has a pulse. Even if she does survive a lot of these will have lasting damage. I don't know what happened between Edward and her other than he didn't want this life for her. I wonder what he'd think if he knew that she would only have a few more years anyway. Of course, I'm going to do everything to prevent that but my hopes may be higher than reality.

6 hours later*

She was stable at least. It took 6 long hours to get that way. The other doctors had the same look I did. The "It be surprising if she survives another week" look. There are so many of those here.

After my shift, I sat in her room. I did text Esme about the whole situation. She said "I know you'll make the right choice" I know she sees Bella as a daughter and Bella saw her as a mother. Her mother wasn't very motherly. She was more like a friend.

I was hoping she would gain consciousness so she would make the choice. I know she probably doesn't want to be dead. It has been 3 years and I don't want to force her back into our lives again.

Then suddenly I hear a moan. I get up quickly and see her eyes flutter open.

"Hello Bella"

Bella POV

I was in so much pain like a piano fell on me. Then "hello bella" is what I heard. A familiar voice but it can't be.

"Carlisle?" I said

"Yes, I know it's been a while but how do you feel"

"Like a piano fell on me, what happened?"

"You were in a car accident"

When he said that his voice had a worrying tone. Like there was something that he wasn't telling me

"Oh… I can't really remember that"

"That's normal"

"Why does it feel like like you are leaving something out?"

"You want me to be completely honest"

I nodded. I was kind of scared of what he was going to say.

"When you brought in I was surprised your heart was beating. Your injuries were so bad. Six hours we finally got you stable, but if you want my honest opinion" he paused that worried me

"I'd be surprised if it was still beating next week"

So I'm going to die. Great. I know my look probably was unsettling.

"I obviously don't want that. I would tell you I'd do everything in my power to stop that." he paused again

"With your injuries there really only one option. And I wouldn't offer it to anyone else in your position. But since it's you."

Of course he'd say that. It's been three years and I'm being put back into this. I love all Cullens dearly, except one of course. I just got my nursing degree and now it would pretty much be useless if I can't handle being around blood. I don't want to die of course. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what he's saying

"What are you saying?" I asked worried

"I think you know" he said very seriously

Carsile pov

"I'm guessing that nursing degree probably wasn't the best life decision" she said with a chuckle

A nurse? I would've been more proud of her if under other situations. She probably is feeling like that is a bad choice now but one day she probably can use it.

"Well I'm here and fine. And one day you can be too" is all I said.

She smiled slightly.

"I'm going to need an answer Bella"

All she did was nod. I disattached all the wires and picked her up. The hospital was like a ghost town so sneaking her out wasn't a hard task. I laid her on the back seat

"It is quite a drive until we reach our destination. I will lay you here but if I hear you start to fade away I will do it then" I said

She nodded again. I don't blame her she's probably terrified, she's felt the venom before, before it was only a few minutes but now it will be days. She also knows she really doesn't have a choice. Right as I was about to drive off my phone right.. Alice was on the screen.

"Alice"

"You need to bite her now" she said so serious

"What are you talking about"

"I see you get into a card accident. She died on inpact. Even if you go a different route, or wait an hour it still happens. The only way she survives is if you do it before leaving. There isn't even a car accident when you do it"

The phone was on speaker so Bella looked like she was the most unluckiest person, I don't blame her. She attempted to sit up. Which her injuries made her unable to even do it halfway.

"Thanks for saving my best friend and bringing her back to us" Alice hung up after that.

I walked toward the backseat. I took her out and sat her up on the trunk of the car.

"You ready" I asked

" I guess" she said, fear filled her voice

I brushed her hair to one side. Then I leaned down and bit her. Her body reacted instantly. After putting her in the back seat again then I drove home.
