Hey, so this is actually the first quest I wrote and will be uploading as a story on here. A word of warning though, due to it being a quest, some parts don't transfer over quite as well as a pure story because you can't really see the dice rolls and decisions people voted for.

You sighed as you kicked back in your computer chair. After a long day at school, it felt great to just relax your back into the soft cushion of your computing chair. It cost a pretty penny, but it was helpful as all hell on your back, especially with all the time you spent hunched over at your computer.

"Boss, hey boss!" a high pitched, excited voice called from the speakers of your computer. You cracked an eye open to see one of your digimon beaming at you from the most left monitor of the three you had set up.

Black Agumon, one of the two digimon you saved down in Kowloon when you first started going down there. You'd run into a pair of Pagumon brothers being chased down by a Goblimon who had wanted to destroy them and take their data.

You'd felt sorry for them, so ended up jumping the green goblin digimon from behind, stealing its club and beating the shit out of it with its own weapon. Since then, they'd stuck to you like glue, called you boss and did whatever you ordered them to, a bit too happily at times, especially Black Agumon, he just loved to fight.

"What's up Agumon?" You ask, swivelling around in your chair to look at him, "Any problems while I was out today?" you question, even if the odds are low. You're a pretty accomplished hacker, so much so that Zaxxon, the top hacker team running around Eden had wanted to recruit you at one point.

Which is why you weren't really afraid of anyone managing to hack into your private server, made just for you and your digimon to relax in together within Eden.

Hacker's you weren't afraid of. Digimon trying to cross over though, were a different matter. Sometimes, when they ended up in Eden, they could somehow tear through the defences of servers by sheer luck or instinct, either or, you weren't really sure, but sometimes they could just end up in your server no matter how secure.

So you generally left one of your digimon chilling in your server to protect it while you were at school or sleeping, just in case.

"Well, a Gazimon did end up in our server, but it was so tired out when it got here it was super easy for me to delete it and absorb its data." Black Agumon replied casually, "It's not fair boss, I didn't enjoy that fight at all, can we take a case on where we fight some digimon, please, please, please!"

You blinked slightly, huh. That was only the second time ever a digimon had made it into your server. To bad you weren't around though, Gazimon aren't really that tough, but they're fast as hell and have an awesome lightning based attack that could stun enemies, a great back up technique.

You sighed, oh well. Looking at Black Agumon, you gave him a nod, "If there's any decently paying jobs with fights we can take on, I suppose we can buddy." you reply, if your digimon wants a fight, who are you to deny him.

"Woohoo!" Black Agumon cheered, jumping up and down excitedly on screen.

Pulling your black digivice from your pocket, you held it up to your face, "What kind of jobs are we looking at today DemiDevimon?" you question.

The screen flickers on, and your second digimon appears.

Despite being brother digimon, they're entirely different in species after digivolving from Pagumon. And where Black Agumon loves to fight, DemiDevimon is incredibly pragmatic and will basically do anything needed to get a job done and see your goals accomplished.

"Eh, only got another few jobs today boss," he replied, "One is another delivery job for a Digi-egg and it doesn't pay much, but the other does actually involve some fighting and pays a decent ten thousand yen."

You almost sigh. You work alone, a side effect of the way you grew up with many selfish bully orphans always looking to get their hands on new shiny things, and the gangsters you ran with as a little boy doing odd jobs for - you don't trust easy.

So, because of that, other online case workers like the Hudie group and such tended to get much more customers than you. Especially since you know one of them runs with an Ultimate level digimon and can generally take on anything sent his way, while you only have a pair of Rookie's at the moment.

"What's the job? Who'll we be fighting?" You ask. If its anything above a rookie, no way. Your digimon could maybe take on a weak champion of the data type as they are now, especially since Black Agumon will have gotten a decent bint stronger thanks to that Gazimon, but you wouldn't risk it either way.

"Nothing too hard boss, we can definitely handle it," DemiDevimon sent him a toothy grin, "A pair of digimon ended up in some guys private server, a ToyAgumon and a Betamon, they beat up his own Digimon pretty badly and he had to run away."

Well, that shouldn't be too hard honestly. From what you know, thanks to scanning the information of many digimon cards with your visualizer, Betamon are virus types and ToyAgumon are of the free type, so none of them have an advantage over your digimon. Not to mention, both are quite slow because of their body types, so they couldn't have absorbed much data before they ended up in Eden.

"Right, we'll take care of those two Digimon," you decide. You haven't generally defeated much digimon with your own in comparison to others so far, and in general it has left your team while not weak, but not strong either.

You kind of need more power before you can take on any actual high paying jobs. Honestly, you heard that the guy with the Cyberdramon from Hudie raked in a hundred thousand yen easily on most jobs that generally required him to smack down champion's that broke into private servers.

It annoyed you, but you'd had to turn down quite a few high paying jobs simply because you didn't have the fire power needed to take down the digimon causing the problems.

"Right boss," DemiDevimon saluted you with his wing, "You grab my brother and I'll message the client and get the details for his private server."

Sounds good to you. You want to get this done quickly either way, your teacher was getting on at you earlier because you fell asleep in class. The private school you go to, you got in on a scholarship because of your apparent prodigious intelligence and computer skills, but honestly, you would have preferred an easy public school if it weren't for one thing. The school uniform and its short skirt.

There were plenty of pretty girls in your class. Makino for instance filled hers out nicely, not that she didn't fill out her casual clothes nicely either from the few times you saw her outside of school. She definitely inherited a bodacious body from her model mother.

Taking out your visualizer, it looking like a black visor, you plugged it into your computer, setting up the access point, then slipped it over your eyes. With a few practised clicks, your consciousness left your body behind, and you found yourself standing in a white void. Not missing a beat, you swiped your hand and called on your control functions, bringing up the many public areas both from the company running Eden and those hosted by others.

You weren't going to any of those though. Typing in the details, answers to your security prompts and password, you opened up your personal server and entered.

Immediately the white void was replaced by a large island, filled with grass, a small forest area, warm sandy ground, sparkling blue ocean and a mansion that loomed over head watching over everything.

You didn't understand why many people tended to keep their private servers bare. You set yours up so it could be a great place to live for both your current digimon and any ones you would get in the future. It was wide open, with many different habitats and tree's that grew digital food for your digimon. It had taken you a while to get the required data, because there was a hell a lot of it, but it worked out in the end.

Honestly, the hardest part was coding the digital food grown so that it was actually edible and filled your digimon's stomach.

"Boss!" Black Agumon called out, sprinting across the sandy beach towards you, a wide toothy grin on his face, bracer clad arms held high up above his head.

He launched himself at you when he was within jumping distance and you laughed as he caught you around the middle. He nuzzled his large head into your stomach for a moment and you patted him on the head happily.

You kept that up for a few moments before you both separated and the digimon allowed you to load him into your digivice.

"You ready DemiDevimon?" you asked aloud.

There was a crackle in your ears as the headset you kept hanging around your neck flared to life, "Yeah boss, I'm sending you the server information now." DemiDevimon replied. You'd specifically paid more for your visor like visualizer, simply because it allowed you to keep your ears free and connect to your headset so you could talk to your digimon within your digivice more easily.

While you usually had Black Agumon work guard duty, DemiDevimon took up kind of a secretarial like role, monitoring your online accounts, emails and such. You aren't going to lie, ever since you got both digimon, your efficiency as a hacker has more than doubled - even more so when taken into account that having a link to your digimon allowed you to power the three hacking skills you'd accumulated to this point. They both might just be rookies, but the additional processing power your link to them adds to your very mind while online was staggering.

A moment later, red text scrawled across the black visor over your eyes. The default colour had been blue, but light blue was a colour that just hurt your eyes too much if you looked at it too long, so you'd tinkered with the piece of equipment, hacked its functions until you managed to change its default text from light blue to red.

Honestly, why it hadn't been a function in the first place had annoyed you something fierce.

"Here we go boys," You said, knowing your digimon could hear you, "Get ready to fight the second we log into this guys server."

You kept the digivice held tight in one hand, ready to release both your digimon in an instant, and then with your free hand, input the the data needed to jump to the guys private server.

There was a flash as you left your server behind, and appeared within the gate of your client's private server. You stepped out of the glowing green circles and grimaced almost immediately.

A massive, wide open area. Just large, light blue railing for floors all over the place, hanging in the air, surrounded by darkness and gigantic, floating light blue cubes.

"Ugh," you groaned in annoyance. Not only was it such a dreadful colour the place was stupidly designed at that. You hated these kinds of servers, not a creative piece to be found. Heck, there wasn't even anywhere to sit down anywhere in sight.

You gave a cursory glance around you, but found nothing. Well, you didn't really expect them to just hang around at the entrance. Though, there was no way a pair of rookie's could escape a locked gate either, not unless they were maybe a machine based digimon.

Holding your digivice up, you loaded one of your three hacker skills. Stealth, allowing for your body to blend in out of sight, melting into the bright blue colouring all around you. Now near invisible you made your way deeper into the private server.

Ah, if only you had the visualizer hacker skill. But you had already spent a pretty penny on the three you had at the moment, and despite being one of the cheapest pre-made hacker skills out there, it still cost fifty thousand yen. You could probably make the skills yourself, but they're based on digimon and without the data of specific digimon, it was highly improbable you'd get anywhere with it.

And you didn't want to risk messing around with the data of your own digimon too much. Most just thought that the digimon were programs, but you knew differently. They were too, alive, their personalities too vast to be a mere program. They might have started out as a program, a 'mere' artificial intelligence, but they had somehow evolved passed that and gained both sentience and sapience.

Besides, neither of your digimon would have the data needed for the visualizer skill.

It took a bit of walking throughout the area, for a few minutes at least, but honestly it didn't take you all that long to find the two digimon. How could it? There were literally no spaces to hide in this sever, just railing platforms, and unless they jumped into the void surrounding the server, there would be nowhere else for them to go.

Both Betamon, an aquatic based digimon

And ToyAgumon, a machine type digimon you think.

It might be interesting to get your hands on the Betamon. You know the main line they can digivolve into is the Seadramon line, and a large aquatic digimon like Seadramon might be a big help. Granted, it could digivovle into any number of paths.

Either way, thanks to your stealth skill, they haven't noticed you yet.

You released your digimon from your digivice at your side and shushed them quickly so they didn't make any noise. Stealth was a great skill, but it came undone the moment you attacked someone.

Using the scan function of your visualizor visor, you scanned the two digimon and clicked your tongue, "Betamon's a virus type but Toy Agumon's a a vaccine."

Which meant your digimon both being virus types, would deal only half the damage to it. Well, at the very least, you could help out as well. Holding up your digivice again, you brought out the weapon you scanned from that Goblimon with the Copy and Paste skill way back when you first met both your digimon as a pair of Pagumon.

The club settled easily into your palm and you grinned, wrapping your fingers tightly around it.

"Look guys, the Toy Agumon is the biggest threat, so we're gonna pile on it first," you whispered to your digimon, "DemiDevimon, hypnotise it, then block off Betamon from helping it out while Agumon hits it with his Spitfire Blast and I'll smash its head in with my club."

DemiDevimon saluted you with his wing, "Gotcha boss," while his brother pumped his clawed fist excitedly.

"Go!" You ordered, and then sprinted towards the Toy Agumon, Black Agumon by your side.

"Evil Whisper!" you heard DemiDevimon's voice beyond you declare, and watched as red rings flew passed your running form and washed over the Toy Agumon, causing it to slump over.

the Betamon shrieked in fright, but you paid it no heed and neither did your little black dinosaur as he reared back his head and then threw it forward and unleashed a large, compressed stream of flame that smashed into his blocky counterpart.

When the flames washed away, toy Agumon had fell to a knee, groaning in pain, body singed. It didn't get anytime to gather its bearings though as you reached it and smashed your club directly into its face so hard it flipped up backwards and landed on its front.

"You!" the Betamon shouted angrily as you came into view after attacking, you saw electricity building over its form, but before it could unleash its attack, DemiDevimon zipped past you, one of his clawed feet clad in ebony embers.

"Devi Claw!" your bat digimon shouted, slashing his clawed foot across the aquatic digimon's side and forcing it to release its attack and shriek in pain.

DemiDevimon came in at just the right time. Raising your club up above your head, with a shout you brought it down as hard as you could, smashing it into the machine digimon's back.

It gave a very loud scream of pain, that was cut off as Black Agumon rushed up, one clawed arm glowing white and smashed a punch into the downed digimon's face as it tried to push itself up.

You grinned. "Perfect!" it gave you enough time to raise your club up again and smash it back down into the digimon, drawing another ear splitting scream from the digimon.

You'd think yourself cruel for doing this in any other situation, but most of these digimon don't care a lick about others, only caring about destroying other digimon and devouring their data so they can digivolve.

It tried to stand up once again, showing just how resilient even a rookie digimon was. A normal human would have been hospitalized, maybe even killed after the first few attacks you and your digimon unleashed on it.

But it as for naught as Black Agumon smashed another punch into its face and downed it once more, setting it up for you to lift your club and smash it into the digimon once final time, causing it to burst into red flakes of data.

As the data from Toy Agumon floated into the air, you whirled around to look at DemiDevimon facing off against Betamon, catching sight of the little winged bat deftly dodging aside and avoiding a large lance of lightning.

You had to withhold a whistle, Betamon was slow but it had some decent power behind it, you weren't going to lie.

You couldn't let that data go to waste, so you and your digimon had to finish off Betamon quickly. With its attention focused on DemiDevimon, you lined up your club over your shoulder and tossed it at the little green aquatic digimon.

Thankfully because it was distracted, it didn't notice the otherwise easily dodge able attack and squealed in pain as the heavy club smashed into its side.

"Now hypnotise it!" You shouted to your digimon, before turning to Black Agumon who was looking at the data floating in the air and almost salivating, "Finish it off with Mach Jab and then a quick Pepper Breath if it's still alive!"

Black Agumon nodded and rushed the downed aquatic digimon. You turned back around to see the Betamon falling limp briefly under DemiDevimon's Evil Whisper, giving Agumon the chance he needed.

Lunging forward with his claws glowing, Black Agumon cried out, "Mach Jab!" and smashed his fist as hard as he could into the downed digimon, causing it to explode into similar flakes of data to Toy Agumon.

"Load em up boys," You told your digimon with a grin.

The two virus type digimon quickly followed your orders, and dragged the data floating in the air towards them, absorbing it into themselves and becoming all the stronger for it.

When they were done, you pulled out your digivice and loaded them back inside it. "Now we just need our payment and we're done." you hum aloud. You're not leaving this private server till you get paid.

If the guy tries to gip you, your going to tear apart his server and use it to trace his account details. Standard hacker procedure.

"Right boss, I'll message him and let him know," DemiDevimon replied. He was much quicker than you at this kind of thing while you were inside cyberspace, which was why you returned them to your digivice.

Plus, that didn't take long at all. You could hang around for another couple of hours in Eden before you had to return to the real world, so there were a few things you could get done. Especially now that you were set on getting your digimon stronger for higher tier jobs.

You could head into Kowloon. It being the data graveyard, you could find pockets of data for your digimon to absorb and get stronger from, it was where the vast majority of digimon ended up after ending up in Eden. You never went simply because of the risk, not just from the free roaming digimon either.

Hacker teams loved to hang around Kowloon and keep it as their turf to catch digimon for selling or training up new members of their teams, and if they didn't like the looks of you, they could pick a fight and try to delete your digimon.

Granted, it was mostly weaker hackers and their digimon that hung around the earliest floor in Kowloon, the stronger teams preferred to hang around in the lower floors where the stronger kinds of digimon usually congregated to look for free data or fight and kill each other to download their opponent's data.

The public Eden rooms weren't all that interesting, especially with them being so bright. They were basically just public places, granted where you could shop online and such.

There was the Digimarket as well, one of the few private server URL's you had on hand, you'd been given it after doing a little job for the Zaxxon hacker team. It was more or less a black market where hacker's went to sell digimon. You'd heard there were some cruel fucks there, would do as you instructed to turn a job even if that meant bruising up a digimon to make it easy pickings for you to destroy.

You could literally go buy a champion level digimon, have one of them soften it up and let your digimon finish it off for its data if you wanted to power them up really quickly. But it was a bit cruel to do.

"There we go boss," DemiDevimon piped up rousing you from your thoughts, "The payment has been completed and sent to your account, we can get out of here now."

Perfect. Granted, it was only ten thousand yen, but since the government handled your living expenses and even gave you a small stipend for other things like clothes and such, any money you made on the side from working in Eden went to a total sum for you to use for anything you wanted, or just plain save it up.
