Chapter 4 Part 2

Landing on it's side the door not facing the ground was flung open and out popped Elizabeth standing up, followed by Vincent holding the bag.

"What made us tip over?" asked Vincent holding his head.

"Where's Snarlg." Panicked Elizabeth. She spun around seeing The driver had been thrown and the Grung was not to far off.

"ELIZABETH!" Vincent shouted.

She dropped to the ground raced over to where he lay, as she reached him he as able to get up at her very touch.

"Thank the White Guardian your safe." she said hugging him.

"ELZIA…!" shouted Vincent before being cut off.

As a roar drowned him out and the heat of blaze and fire shot over head, Standing up she looked back to see the dragon they had fled form had returned.

"You can't run away form me now." he grinned "You'll pay for the crimes you'd committed with that blade."

"The blade." she thought and looked to the very one Vincent carried.

Another blaze of hell fire washed over them, forcing Vincent to duck in to the carriage.

"Oh hello there." said the women.

"Not now." sighed Vincent, before popping back up and shooting bolt of magic at the dragon.

"Vincent, would the frost blade cut the dragon."

"No." he said as yet more flame came down he held out his staff to part the flames being pushed back the force. "Try shooting a arrow form the bow."

Getting it out she drew back and shot a icicle only for it and brake against the dragon's hide as went shattering to pieces that raid down.

"Try the mouth." he called as he bolted out the carriage as is was engulfed in more fire.

"Oh that women was still inside." Realised Elizabeth.

"How do you think the driver felt."

The two stopped talking and ran backwards taking Snarlg with them before diving down to avoid being cooked.

As Thanion watched on he forced his men ever closer making sure Theodore was out in front.

"Uh, should we be marching towards the dragon?" worried the Elves, as they tried to convince Thanion.

"Not even the king was this foolish."

"We don't even have any black arrows."

"We don't need them." insisted Thanion pulling out his black blade.

"What about us."

"We don't have weapon such as yours."

"Cease your insubordination!" he snapped swinging around "We march to take back the Dragon-Kinn."

The elves shared some looks then stopped if their tracks and left back towards the woods and the city.

"Cowards." scorned Thanion.

Back in the battle they where using their small size to their advantage as thy chose to run between his legs trying to find a weak spot. Elizabeth was trying to slow him down pressing her ice blade against him as long as possible, but since it did not cut his scales no ice did form. Snarlg just aimed his mace as his legs causing minor irritation, and as for Vincent he was shoot bolt after magic bolt to no avail.

"This is doing no good, we need to shot an icicle down his throat." called Vincent.

"Will that even work."

"It may disrupt his…" he paused as more fire was thrown their way. "His, fire breathing."

"Okay then how do I do it."

"You'll need to pull back for as long as possible and shot as soon as his mouth opens up."

Fear consumed her and Vincent saw it on her face, but she still ran out form under him pulling back the bow string.

"Hay cousin." she called out.

"You dare think you have any relation to me." he snarled, as he turned to face her.

"You need to cool off." she said as the icicle grew in the bow.

"Oh then lest heat things up shall we." he said as he opened his mouth to shoot fire.

But letting go the icicle shot right in to his mouth and landed in his throat making contact with the fire, and only steam came out, and sudden gush of the force threw him of balance sending him down. Forcing out Vincent and Snarlg out form under him as they joined her, after avoiding to be crushed, by the behemoth.

"That worked?" questioned Vincent.

"Makes sense ice trumps fire."

"That's not how that works."

"So what do you call that." boasted Elizabeth.

"Still alive." Panicked Vincent seeing the Dragon rose ounce more to his full height. "RUN!" he shouted truing around to flee only to stumble to a halt.

Looking back Elizabeth saw Thanion had joined them and saw Theodore was with him. Vincent jumped out of the way and Elizabeth stepped to one side and yanked Snarlg with her as Thanion holding his black blade left Theodore behind and charged the Dragon sinking the blade deep in it it's leg forcing it to scream and send it's last barrage of fire up in the the sky.

Pulling the blade out he turned it on to Elizabeth brining it down with a passion, leaving Snarlg to bring up his mace to counter the blade. The anger in his face grew at the fact he would not get his hit in and so kicked the Gnarg backwards before diving out of the way of the next attack from the dragon.

Elizabeth dropped to the to avoid the attack as Vincent was facing it down as it came racing towards him, in the heat of the moment and by the heat of the fire closing in he spun around and was able to escape the edge of the flame pulling his staff towards him as he spun around only to see the orb had caught some of the fire and let it burn around it. In a split second moment he thrust outwards and shot the dragon's fire back at him.

"THE BALDE!" shouted Elizabeth as she stood back up.

Looking at her he noted Snarlg was still down and Thanion was trying to cut though it's leg. He scrambled for the black blade and threw it out only for it to land short, leaving Elizabeth to Scramble after it as yet another attack was coming down on them. Slipping along the floor as she dropped to avoid the attack she was bale to get to grips with the blade only to swing around to find Thanion was braving the fire to attack her. Their blades met with a fierce earth shattering clang. Before Snarlg came up and smashed his mace though his shoulder and sent him to the floor, before reaching out a hand to help Elizabeth up.

"You think that will stop me." seethed Thanion.

"If that won't were hopping he will." she said diving back under the Dragon.

Snarlg and Vincent Quickly followed as the latest fire attack came down and almost engulfed Thanion.

Now under the safety of the Dragon with the blade in hand Elizabeth looked up to the massive gap between here and the strike the dragons belly.

"How are we going to reach." asked Vincent.

"Simple." said Elizabeth grabbing Snarlg and making him cup his hands and squat down. "When I step on your hands throw me up."

Making a leap in to his hands Elizabeth was throw upwards allowing the blade to cut in chest only barley, making a slight cut before falling to the ground.

Howling out the creature quelled the pain to respond "You should have for gone the head." he laughed looking between his legs.

"Good advice." said Thanion.

The Dragon shot his head back up to see Thanion was standing a short distance away and began a straight dash towards the dragon's head. In response the dragon charged up for another jet of fire. But Thanion jumped up used the dragon's jaw to help him flip up and over landing himself on the creatures head only to bring the blade right over it's head. Cutting in deep the blade cut though scale, muscle and bone to reach the brain, with the blade in the dragon dropped and the others raced out to avoid being crushed.

Sliding out they gave of a sigh in relief, only to be met with a blade swinging towards them as Thanion came at them again, they dodged out of the way as the blade cut in Dragon's hide. Elizabeth brought up the black blade in defence as Vincent and Snarlg stood behind her.

"You can't win." said Thanion "I captured your little friend."

"You have the guard." Hissed Elizabeth "You venomous sake."

"Yes come with me and I won't be forced to kill him." he smiled jutting forward with his own black blade.

"Wait." said Vincent leaning to the side.

"Where is he?"

Spinning around Thanion noticed Theodore was missing, no longer where he left him on the side of the road. His eyes glared around in sharp short bursts as he searched for his captive before he fell to his knees feeling sharp pain in his back. Looking over his shoulder he caught Elizabeth yanking her blade from his back.

"That should keep you of our backs for a wile." she said watching him fall forward.

He braced himself on his hands to stop the impact with the road "You should have killed me." he stuttered.

Turning back to Vincent he was running her hands orb as he tried to the clear away the orange colour.

"What are you doing, we need to find the guard."

"That's what I'm doing, I trying to find him." Vincent replied swinging his hand.

Soon enough the colour gave way to the sky and it soon zoomed in with great speed before settling in on the woods and slowing down until an over head view of Theodore appeared.

"Where is he?" asked Elizabeth.

"In the woods on the other side of the road." he said as the orb fogged back up.

"Snarlg lets go." said Elizabeth calling her pet as they parted off in to the woods.

Thanion still bent over form the stabbing in his back, looked over and watched them leave.

Snegurochka city had became still, the ounce bustling city slowed down and was more quite then ever few guard patrols still went about, but there was nothing to see and no one to keep an eye on. In the Queens Chambers Alistair was looking over the fire as he prodded and poked the fire and the live flames.

"Such a thing can only be used by royalty." he sighed before hearing the door go.

"This is the queens chambers." he called over.

"And I have news for you."

Looking behind him he saw it was a guard "And what news do you bring?" he asked turning around.

"We've had a fatality in the construction." reported the guard.

Alistair looked away.

"Wile putting up some the wall, more rock came down crushing them in one of the pools."

"What of the poor soul?" Alistair asked.

"Drowned, their body is being taken to be divided up."

"As it should be."

"Sir?"

"Yes."

"Should we, uh start eating the elderly."

Alistair gave him a funny look.

"I mean no disrespect, as you chose a life with out children…." Fumbled the guard

"This path was not chosen by me, born in to service to the king it was my duty from the start." he turned back around "After I was wed, I was about to have a child. But when I told the king, he gave me the harsh truth, my duty is to live long enough to over see two generations."

The guard was silent.

"I ate the egg in my sleep, my wife left me remarried after that."

"I'm so sorry." apologised the guard "Don't be, I'm the oldest living Vipera-Berus, like all those born to serve the queen, we have a duty and it for goes everything else." he lowered his head.

"I'll be going now."

"Wait, make sure that the children are fed first, don't make enough portions for adults unless there is enough meet."

"Of course." nodded the guard, he was about to leave "How do we cut them up."

"I'm sorry, I know that we've done it before, out meet is something we do, I ate my grandmother."

"Go on."

"But how do we cut though the scales."

With darkness closing in they found them selves walking though the woods the trio was on the hunt, Snarlg was out in front trying to sniff out Theodore, wile Vincent was having trouble keeping the staff showing them the way to find Vincent as it kept fogging over and needing to be started again.

"Just give up." said Elizabeth "You wasting your time."

"There is no point in trying to find him, if we don't know where he is."

"We have Snarlg." she said.

"Fair point." he said lowing his staff to the floor.

As they roamed the woods Elizabeth was drawn back to the black blade, Vincent had put it back in his sheath, but her eyes where drawn back to it's black cracked metal service.

"Why are our scales son impervious to most blades?" she asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Why can only the black blades cut though our skin, even that weapon the elven had didn't work, it only broke pierced the scales."

Vincent's face sat still before be spoke. "Well the metal used is said to cut though Dragon scale."

"Yes and we are Dragon-Kinn."

"Not fully true, we are Vipera-Berus, know in the tongue used by humans and such as Dragon-Kinn." he stopped to push a branch out of his way. "And wile our scales are resilient, other weapons have been know to cut us down."

"Like what?"

"The weapons of the Hill merchants, have been know with a good swing to cut in deep enough to cut though our scales. But as for dragon scale." he paused stopping in his tracks.

Elizabeth slowed down over taking him in the process, before she fully stopped.

"Dragon scale is not like ours, our scales are weaker, made more for to keep the bitter cold and jagged rocks form doing any harm."

"And Dragon scales."

"So tough only a black arrow or blade can even cut though them." as he finished he carried on to catch up to Gnarg.

Elizabeth watched as the sword hung from his side before choosing to join him on their search.
