Chapter 1

Imp City

Earth

In one of the many rundown sections of Imp city, a single scrawny female Imp was making a crude circle in her apartment floor.

The Imp was, like most of her kind, born in the Ring of Wrath. However, unlike most that were born in the Wrath Ring, her muscles were poorly developed along with her breasts, making her more akin to an Imp born from Envy than Wrath. This made her the butt of the joke for countless girls in the Wrath Ring, forcing her to move to the Pride Ring to avoid all the mockery. Though, she will admit that it wasn't much of an improvement compared to her life in Wrath.

Though she found employment in Pride as a waitress, she was constantly mocked and ridiculed by the Sinners in Pride for being an Imp, not just for her looks or physique. Such was the life for an Imp, who was regarded as the lowest of the low in Hell. Still, she found kinship with a crab-like Sinner by the name of Emile, who helped her whenever he can by eating at the diner and giving her a generous tip. For a time, life was good for the Imp. She honestly thought that things were finally looking up for her. Until, just a few days ago, she received a hard lesson that she shouldn't be hopeful in Hell.

A few days ago, the annual extermination day arrived, and Angels from Heaven came down to enact the yearly extermination of demons and Sinners in order to avoid overpopulation in Hell. The Imp was lucky to find shelter from it all by hiding out in a ditch filled with demonic feces and various other things that the Imp didn't want to think about. Not that it mattered as it saved her life and the Exterminators ignored her.

She stayed in that ditch for three days until she was certain the Extermination was over and the exterminators all left as sometimes a few linger for a few days to kill unsuspecting demons. Upon crawling out of the ditch, she went to try and find Emile. Going straight towards his typical lodgings, the Imp came upon a horrendous sight. The corpse of her dead friend and a bunch of Imps looting his home. To make matters worse, it was Imps that she knew and tormented her during her younger years. When they saw her, they instantly began bullying her. When she fought back, breaking one of their noses as well as one of their jaws, they went ballistic on her. Not only did they beat her up real bad, but they took things a step further and raped her. And they had a good time doing it if their expressions were any indication. She didn't know how long they raped her, but by the time they were done, she was broken, both physically and emotionally. When they left, she went into her friend's ransacked home and cried herself to sleep.

Once she recovered enough, she gave her friend a burial before departing for work, hoping that her workplace was still around after the extermination. For the first days, everything was fine or as fine as it could be after the ordeal she went through, but eventually, she started to get nausea, fatigue, and weird mood swings. After receiving those symptoms, she realized that she was pregnant. Pregnant with the child of one of the rapists that fucked her.

Upon realizing this, she immediately began panicking. How could she raise a child of a rapist? Of someone that she despised for violating her and looting her friend's home? When she went home the night she learned about her pregnancy, she thought long and hard about what to do. She racked her mind on what to do until eventually, she recalled something that Emile told her. If there was anything that she wasn't sure of or needed advice with, just go to his home and create a specific magic circle with the words Mitna Rachnun on the outer ring of the circle in a specific language. He taught her about all this a few days prior to the Extermination that took his life. Why she didn't use it before was because Emile told her that it would only work once and that it should only be used as a last resort. She was skeptical at hearing all that, but the look that Emile gave her as well as the tone convinced her that her friend was serious. Thus she didn't use it to gain vengeance on the rapists that raped her and looted Emile's home. However, with a child coming and with no way to support both her and the child, her salary just barely supported her, not to mention the child was from some people she despised, she knew that she needed to make this circle.

Thus what she was doing right now. Upon completing the circle, she spoke the rites and incantations that Emile taught her.

Repeating them four times, the Imp, much to her shock, saw the circle glow green and began to emit a greenish-blue fog that soon began to consolidate into a massive figure. Soon, it stopped and revealed an intimidating suit of black armor that surpassed anyone the Imp meet in height. Glaring down at the creature that summoned it, the suit of armor spoke.

"What kind of creature are you?" Demanded the suit of armor with a masculine voice, making the Imp gulp at the intimidating voice the suit of armor had. Shivering a bit, the Imp gathered the courage needed to speak before doing so.

"I…I'm an Imp, sir. My name is Mary Ann." Said the Imp woman as she looked upon the armor. She had no idea who this was as, to her knowledge, there wasn't any Prince, Overlord, or King in Hell that resembled this being at all. Just who was he and how did her friend know how to contact this being. Wincing a bit as the armor growled, getting impatient with her, she was then surprised by his next words.

"How have you been able to contact me?" Demanded the armor as it glared at her. Whimpering as the figure started to grow larger and more intimidating while the smoke of the fog began to form into a claw-like hand with razor-sharp fingers that looked like they can slice her into pieces with no issue. Knowing it was better to answer the sentient armor, Mary Ann told it everything.

"My friend Emile told me about this circle that I should use if I was in trouble and need help. But he told me to only do it once as it's supposed to be a last resort. But I'm in need of serious help. I'm pregnant with a bastard child and I can't afford to support it and myself. My parents disowned me when they saw my physique and my only friend is now dead. Please, I beg of you." Said Mary Ann as she explained her plight before getting on her knees, trying to garner sympathy from this being. If she did, it didn't show at all. If anything, the figure looked at her like she was pathetic. Still, she saw that the being was thinking long and hard about this information. As if it was pondering how to use this information to its advantage. Eventually, it spoke again.

"And what kind of assistance do you require of me?" Demanded the suit of armor, almost daring her to demand much of him. Mary Ann gulped a bit before speaking.

"Anything." Said Mary Ann. "Anything. Just give me and this bastard child in me a chance to live." Upon hearing that, the suit of armor chuckled before disappearing. The circle then floated into the air before turning into a portal that revealed a desolate landscape. Two ghostly claws then formed and then grabbed the Imp, dragging her into the portal. Once they did, they dissipated and the portal along with it, making it seem like nothing ever happened.

Mitna Rachnun

Runeterra

There are many depictions of the afterlife in the world of Runeterra since sapient life began. Some of them were rather peaceful and loving while others were barbaric and were ones that people with any sense would pray is not the reality of undeath. Unfortunately for some of those people, such a horrendous afterlife exists. Many in fact. An example is the Shadow Isles, which was created from the foolishness and naivety of a young prince who couldn't let go of his lover. When people think of a horrid afterlife, they think of the Shadow Isles. What most people don't know is that there was another, far more ancient realm akin to the Shadow Isles. Only it was ruled over by a more powerful being. That realm was called Mitna Rachnun and its ruler was making a plan that'll bring about more power to him without drawing the attention of his foes.

In a massive fortress that was built in reminiscent of his old fortress in the living world, the ruler of Mitna Rachnun was gazing upon his most recent acquisition. A spirit inhabiting a black metal suit of armor made from both iron and souls, Mordekaiser, the ruler of Mitna Rachnun was gazing upon the Imp that he dragged from another realm entirely. While another realm was something that intrigued him enough, the being that he gained just gave him an opportunity that he will take to garner more power. Power that he can safely garner without worry of his enemies uncovering it.

"Welcome, Imp." Said Mordekaiser as Mary Ann looked upon him, scared beyond belief at his size. He was big before, but now he was gigantic. Easy twelve feet of solid iron, Mordekaiser was someone that could easily crush her with ease. And he would too, should she and her bastard child not do what he intended for them. "Welcome to Mitna Rachnun. My realm of death." Shocked beyond belief at hearing that, Mary Ann looked around her to see various ghostly spirits and monsters flying or floating around her, staring at her with curious or uncaring gazes.

A new realm of death? One separate from Lucifer and God themselves? Just what did her friend do to gain this ritual to contact this being? She thought God was the creator of everything, yet here was a realm of death that was completely different from Hell. What the heck was going on? Before she could ponder on this more, she suddenly felt weak and fell to her side. Groaning in pain, Mary Ann felt her life essence being drained away. It was as if the realm was taking away her life, slowly and painfully. Upon seeing this, Mordekaiser chuckled.

"I see the effect the of my realm has an effect on the living." Said Mordekaiser before forming a single claw and placing it firmly on Mary Ann's head. Carving a rune, Mordekaiser was satisfied when Marry Ann suddenly gasped, rejuvenated.

"What was…" Mary Ann tried to say as she got up, but Mordekaiser interrupted her.

"My realm has an innate effect, of my own design, that drains the life force of any being that wanders inside." Explained Mordekaiser as he looked at Mary Ann as she stared back at him. "It appears to work on you, though I would have preferred it to be more powerful. I will need to readjust." Before Mary Ann can speak, Mordekaiser spoke again. "Enough idle chatter, we shall make our deal now and you will accept or I will end your existence along with your bastard child." With that, Mordekaiser summoned his trusty weapon, a massive, two-handed mace called Nightfall, and pointed it at Mary Ann. Gulping at the size of Nightfall, Mary Ann nodded her head rapidly.

"Good." Said Mordekaiser, satisfied with her compliance. "Now, I will give you and your bastard child a chance to live. If you both do something for me when your child becomes of age." Upon hearing that, Mary Ann pursed her lips at that. Not liking that deal. For all she knew, this suit of armor would make her and her child go on an impossible mission that'll end in their deaths. In return for subpar food and housing. She wanted to say fuck him and get some assurances, but she knew that was a death sentence. She was only around this suit of armor for a few minutes, but even she could tell he was powerful. Perhaps even surpassing Lucifer in power as well, she wasn't sure, and it didn't matter if he was or wasn't. He was still more than powerful enough to destroy her utterly if he wanted to. Thus, she had to give in to his demands.

"What do you want?" Asked Mary Ann as she looked at the suit of armor with submission. Satisfied, Mordekaiser spoke.

"You and your child will return back to your home realm and become my spies in that realm. To be my eyes in this new realm." Said Mordekaiser as he placed Nightfall upon his shoulder. The realm that this Imp came from presented an opportunity for him. If he can harness whatever power resides in this Imp's home realm, Mordekaiser can become more powerful than he already was. And more power is always welcomed in his goals of conquering the living.

"That's it?" Asked Mary Ann in surprise, shocked that it was something as simple as that.

"Of course." Said Mordekaiser. "Even with just a glance, I can see that you are worth nothing more than as a mere scout. Giving you a harder task will not only be foolish but a complete waste of time." Mary Ann wasn't sure if she should be offended or grateful at that. Still, it's not like she has a choice. Thus, she looked at the suit of armor and accepted the deal.

"Good." Said Mordekaiser, satisfied with her willingness to comply. "Then come. We have much to discuss. Both on your living conditions and what I should assign you and your child to accomplish for me." With that, Mordekaiser began to walk away, causing Mary Ann to follow him. As she walked, Mary Ann wondered if she made a grave mistake or not.
