Acclimate. That was all he could do over the weekend. Acclimate.
Become accustomed to a new climate or to new conditions.
Life at home was quiet. It had occurred to Izuku that the sudden forcing of new memories gave him drastic amnesia, but quickly he overcame it and remembered his daily life. Though the other part of him nagged that it was quite mundane and boring.
He hadn't been abled to reach All Might that weekend. Try as he did, double, triple even sextuple texting the number one hero proved ineffective. This was fine, however. He could deal with him later. What he enjoyed instead was spending time with his mother and sister. Sure, he had always done that before, but now it felt so much fresher, like he could truly take in how amazing his family was. The afternoon he spent with his mother, surrounded by her warmth and care, satisfied his new emotions. It was a deep longing that had been satisfied, he could feel it in his very core.
He then decided to spend a day out with his sister, after she had invited him to hang out with Mina. What reason did he have to say no anyways?
"Right. You're like a whole new person. I'm so used to you saying no but this is nice." Izuku chuckled sheepishly at the thought. He was quite the loner of course, but now he didn't feel the need to continue doing so. After all, being quirkless is what held him back for so long. For once, there was no argument from his other half.
"You said Mina was bringing another friend. Any idea who?" Izuku asked. Izumi shrugged.
"Dunno, but she said he also took the entrance exam. She also said that you should be prepared to be showered in praise for being so heroic and manly." Izumi laughed at the idea. Izuku simply breathed in a little harder.
The memory from his dream came to mind.
A city he had never been to. An apartment he had never lived in. The world there looked so different. Maybe he had inherited the memories of the past users like Izumi speculated. How couldn't he trust her brain, it had to handle her Psychokinesis. That was another thing he pondered. His other emotions were wary of Izumi, even though he knew he could trust her with his life. They weren't hostile, far from it. It seemed to welcome her into it's trust, but still kept her at a distance. Truly, quirks were strange, and One For All developing its own sentience and emotions was no different.
This was only the leading theory, of course. Izumi nor Izuku could decipher just what was going on inside him.
The siblings walked into a fast food restaurant. They looked around for their company, but didn't need to wait long for them to make themselves known.
"Yo, Zumi-chan!" Mina waved as she skipped towards them, arms outstretched to grab the Midoriya girl in a hug.
"Hey-o, Midoriyas!" A new face, to the both of them, much to Izuku's delight. His red pointed hair and sharp teeth formed in a wide smile made Izuku relax, as did his other emotions. "The name's Eijiro Kirishima! Nice to meet ya!" He turned to Mina with the same radiating smile. "So this is the guy Mina?" The pinkette just nodded as she released Izumi from her hug. Adoration filled Kirishima's eyes. He started shaking in place before he began to speak again. "Dude you're like, so manly! Destroying that big ass robot to save someone trapped under debris! That's so- gah! Manly! Manly! Manly!" Izuku just laughed and put his hand behind his neck.
"It's nothing, really. If you took the exam then you're definitely going for the hero course, so you would have done something like that too right." Izuku felt a flicker in his heart. A new vision, still foggy, but faintly, he could see a crowed circled around two people fighting. The other life visions sure had a way of interrupting his conversations.
"I sure hope I would." Izuku saw a flash of doubt and negative emotions shimmering in the surface of Kirishima's red eyes, but they had just met, so he wouldn't prod around. "Why don't we sit down and talk some more." The group found a nice booth next to the wall, which housed a decently sized window showing the busy streets of Musutafu. Gazing out the window, Izuku tried hard to match the street to any of his foggy memories, in an attempt to clear them up.
"So what about you?" Izuku jerked his vision back to his acquaintances. Izumi caught on long ago that he was starkly paying attention, but didn't dare attempt to miss an opportunity to mess with her brother.
"Sorry I zoned out a bit, what did you ask?" Izuku replied calmly, much to Izumi's disappointment. But part two of her plan had yet to come.
"What about you? What's your quirk?" A part of Izuku felt disappointed that he had missed out on them discussing quirks, it wasn't like him at all to do such a thing, but his desperation to locate the origin of these memories was more important so he supposed he could brush that aside.
"Oh that's easy." Izuku started. Izumi was caught a little off guard at his nonchalance. "It's a full body amplifying energy stockpile quirk." Izumi's jaw had seemed to hit the floor at her brother's explanation of One For All. How had he prepared an answer so quickly and been able to say it with practiced ease? Indeed, how had he. Izuku seemed to wonder that himself, as his other emotions started to push through. "Though I'm still a little fresh with it though. I was basically quirkless for a lot of my life and it only really manifested a few months ago." That one caught him off guard entirely, though none of it was evident on his face.
"Wow only a few months of having a quirk and you can do amazing shit like that? That's insane!" Kirishima had stars in his eyes, as did Mina, who simply stared in awe. Izuku just chuckled at their actions.
-{ ~ }-
"C'mon you open yours first. I know you're way more excited about this than I am." Izumi was shaking in her chair as Izuku held his entrance exam results in his hand. A part of him was nervous, but the other was confident. As if he knew he would get in no matter how little robots he had destroyed.
"Well, here goes nothing I guess." Using a mail opener to tear the letter at its seam, Izuku watched a metal disc plop from the envelope and onto his desk. Izumi was about to question what the purpose of it was before it started to project a hologram.
"I AM HERE! AS A PROJECTION!" All Might, in a yellow pinstripe suit appeared in the hologram. Izuku was a little jittery at the thought, but mostly annoyed that the man never bothered to respond to his texts over the weekend. Izumi, however, was bouncing off the walls at seeing All Might in her brother's projection. She wondered if he would show up in hers but was cut off by the pro heroes voice. "Let's get going with this shall we? For your written exam, you passed with flying colors, surpassing even some of the recommended students scores! This alone gets you into U.A's general studies, but you were aiming for the hero course this year. Sadly, no one could pass with only 12 destruction points." Izuku simply kept staring ahead while his sister's reaction changed from shock to disappointment to anger. "But what kind of hero school judges its future trainees on just destruction? A hidden element was introduced this year, that being rescue points! And young Midoriya, you were the top scorer in that department." The projection of All Might faded as it changed to a clip of his testing site. The camera angle showed him approaching the one pointer behind the green haired girl. Izumi watched as her brother smashed the robot's head with ease. It piqued her interest
The camera angle changed, showing the street that housed the zero pointer. Izumi watched as her brother ran towards the danger, a trait he would never be rid of, and grabbed a slab of concrete that was pinning down a brown haired girl. Izuku had his back turned at that point as the zero pointer started to bring its foot down, but she watched the green aura burst from his body. When it changed colors, she was absolutely blown away, just like the zero pointer.
"For heroic efforts in helping young Asui with that sneak attacking robot, you were awarded 8 rescue points. And for the rescue or young Uraraka, you were rewarded 60 rescue points! The combined score of 80 puts you at the top of the leaderboards young Midoriya. Come! This is your hero academy!" With that closing statement, the projector shut itself off. Izuku couldn't help but smile. Izumi smiled even harder.
"Bro that was so cool! You looked so awesome smashing up that zero pointer! All I did was lead it away from the main area people were running in!" Izuku glanced towards the envelope in her hands.
"Your turn." His sister squeaked with excitement as anxiety rolled off of her body.
"Here goes!" Izumi was less careful than Izuku, opting to just rip first and ask questions later. The metal disc plopped on the desk, almost perfectly in line with Izuku's own. The projection came to light and who appeared was a woman dressed in a dominatrix styled outfit.
"Hello, miss Midoriya. We hope you're excited for your results, because we sure are!" The sentence ended with the crack of her whip.
"Well she's not All Might, but she's still so cool! I'm so glad Midnight is delivering my scores!"
"Now for your written exam, you did a wonderful job. You made it into the top 25 scorers, my congratulations! How wonderful that the youth is being taught so well. As for your practical, you did incredible. scoring a nice 25 destruction points. This score alone gives you a fair chance at being accepted, but we're heroes, and your youthful spirit was just as heroic as any of the pros that teach here! You tossed an entire building at the zero point obstacle to get it away from your fellow examinees, who all got away safely thanks to your actions. You were awarded a tasty 54 rescue points, scoring second place, right below your brother. We'll work on your aim training with you here at U.A!" The projection dimmed as Izumi shrieked with delight.
"We're in Izu! We're gonna be heroes!" She pulled her brother into a bear hug with her Psychokinesis. A light green aura enveloped him as he was pulled to her arms telepathically. He couldn't help but cheer with her. The mood was infectious and he was happy for himself and his sister.
The memories were quiet that night.
-{ ~ }-
He stood outside his classrooms door. Unfortunately, his sister had gone to the other hero course class, so they'd be separated for the time being. But that was fine. Class 1-B was sure to have powerful peers he could befriend. Exhaling once more, Izuku opened the door to see a few students already collected in the class. Most were idle, by themselves and only glanced up to see the new arrival, but a couple were chatting in the back. Most importantly, the floating head that had perked up with a mocking grin as he made eye contact with it.
"A fellow green bean!" The voice called out. As he was about to laugh, the head started floating his way, eyeing his hair and eyes. Izuku wanted to talk however, so he decided to lightly grab the head by the sides and pulled it to eye level. He could tell it was a girl from her long hair and incredibly soft skin that rested in his hands. "You check out pretty nice greenie, but grabbin me this rough should be second date stuff only!" Izuku barely acknowledged the joke as he watched a headless body approach his position. He handed the head to... herself, he had to assume and watched the two parts attach seamlessly. "Names Setsuna Tokage. I'm more swamp green, but we could make something work. Whad'ya say?" She latched onto his arm and pulled him close. Some of the other guys snickered at the interaction, but Izuku was very calm about it. Though a part of him wanted to scream about being this physically close to a girl.
"Sorry if I was touchy giving you your head back. My name's Izuku Midoriya. We should probably start as friends though, whad'ya say?" Setsuna puffed a cheek out but smiled afterwards.
"Woah hey, did you say Izuku Midoriya? Aren't you the guy who destroyed the zero pointer?" A boy in the front of the class spoke out. Izuku turned to see a the teen with a headband facing him. The room delved into a murmuring frenzy as Izuku became the center of attention. His gaze wandered around when he caught a pair of familiar faces looking at him with bewilderment. Teal met green as they made brief eye contact. Her orange hair was tied up in a side ponytail as she sat on a desk. But sitting in the seat of said desk was another girl, with dark eyes that had a hint of blue in them. Black hair framed her neutral face. Two more faces that were buried under the haze of another vision.
"So uh, what's a zero pointer?" Setsuna asked aloud. Izuku found the declaration intriguing, but deduced why she asked quickly.
"Ah, you're a recommendation student? What'd you guys do for your tests?" Izuku was curious about the process as he could've potentially been a part of it.
"Principal Nezu had us showcase our quirks in front of the other teachers at the school by running a complex obstacle course. It was boring as hell and only a few people were interesting, like mud man in the corner." She had whispered that last bit to him behind her floating hand, which Izuku found fascinating. He looked in the direction she pointed towards and saw a boy with shaggy beige hair and pale skin. The most peculiar thing about him was his lack of lips, but it didn't bother Izuku in the slightest. Instead, he now knew of the two most capable students in the class. "So seriously, what's a zero pointer?"
"The zero pointer was this massive robot that served as an obstacle, about as big as a skyscraper." Izuku turned to meet the new voice. It was another boy, this on with slick blonde hair and blue eyes. "Glad to see one of my peers is powerful enough to take one of those down. I'm Neito Monama." He held out a hand for Izuku to shake.
"You're kiddin me right blondie? There's no way a guy like this could take out a robot that big!" Setsuna looked baffled. All Monama did was shrug as he ended his handshake with Izuku. "If it's true you gotta have some super awesome quirk right?"
"It's a full body amplifying energy stockpile quirk. I just call it 'Superpower' for simplicity." Izuku was amused at the questioning whispers around the class as he explained it. If they felt like that now, he couldn't imagine how they'd feel if they learned the truth of One For All. That thought bemused him though, could he ever trust these people enough to tell them about One For All?
"Alright class. How about you take a seat. Choose wisely, that will be your seat for the rest of the year." A rough voice broke the class discussion. Realizing it was their teacher, Izuku made his way to wherever Setsuna was dragging him. It was decidedly to the right of her seat, which was in front of the black haired girl from earlier and diagonal from the orange haired one. "Good, everyone is here. My name is Sekijiro Kan. You can refer to me as Kan-sensei or just sensei. You can also use my hero name, Vlad King. Is that clear?"
"Yes Kan-sensei!"
"I see you've all magically decided on the first option." Some chuckles rose from the class. "Right. Let's make our way to the auditorium for the orientation. After that, I'll have you guys change into your gym uniforms and meet out in the field. We'll be doing a quirk assessment test. Follow me!"
"Yes Kan-sensei!"
-{ ~ }-
"What a boring orientation. Sounded like every other school orientation ever." Setsuna grumbled as she stood next to Izuku.
"I don't know, I think it was pretty informative." Setsuna gave him an unamused glare. "So quirk assessment test," Izuku said as he changed the subject. "What's your quirk anyways. I can guess some of it from your floating head trick earlier." Setsuna smiled.
"Glad you asked Green! I call it Lizard Tail Splitter. It lets me take my body apart into tiny bits and control them telepathically. I also have a small healing factor so if I lose a part, it'll grow back within a few hours. Haven't lost a limb yet but I'm sure it would come back within a few days." Izuku was stars truck.
"That's such an amazing quirk Tokage! You have so much utility with that! You could fit in small spaces to carry out rescue operations while fighting someone at the same time, or be recon in the sky and on the ground or even-" Izuku stopped his rambling with a slight rose tint on his cheeks. "Sorry, I just really like analyzing quirks."
Setsuna just smiled a she forced a blush down. She knew her quirk was great, but hearing someone else praise it so highly was still flattering. "Nah dude, you gave me some kickass ideas. Never really thought about multitasking like that." She playfully punched his shoulder as they watched the rest of the class converge on their location. Kan was already waiting for the class as he took a look at his clipboard. He muttered something to himself before coughing into his hand.
"Alright 1-B. Quirk assessment time. We'll be running through the standardized physical wellness tests you guys did in grade school and middle school, but you're allowed to use your quirks. These tests will be the baseline for your growth here at U.A. Don't worry about where you place amongst your peers, focus only on your own self improvement. Midoriya!" Izuku looked up. "You were the highest scoring tester this year. How far could you throw a baseball in middle school."
"Just north of 50 meters, sensei." He heard a few laughs behind him but he paid them no mind. His time in middle school was hell and he had barely every trained, unlike his sister who worked hard every day.
"Try it with your quirk. I don't think I need to warn you that you should regulate your power and not end up like you did last time." Kan had a small grin on his face. Indeed, he had seen first hand, the power Izuku held within his body. The aftermath in Training Ground Gamma was widespread. He had to listen to his fellow teacher, Higari Majima, whine about kids getting too powerful as the years went on.
Izuku stood within the outlined circle. Instinctually, he called upon One For All. His body was emblazoned with a green aura, streaks of light danced around his body, but he could feel it was too much for him to handle.
Tone it down.
His eyes flickered open. That wasn't his voice. Was that One For All itself speaking to him? The rush of power in his body faded substantially, but there was still a small percentage running through him. He looked over to his teacher, who was studying the power with an insightful look.
Shroud your body with power. Let it flow.
Again. It wasn't so much as a voice as it was a feeling, but it spoke to him like a person. It was odd how soothing it was. At ease, Izuku gave the ball a once over before getting into position to throw. As he threw it, he decided to dump a bit more power into his arm to let the ball fly further.
The ball flew, leaving his hand with a crack against the wind. The class behind him was in awe.
"658.4 Meters. Wonderful, Midoriya. Can you still move?" Kan was thoroughly impressed. Aizawa, the instructor for their hero class counterpart, was insistent in splitting the Midoriya siblings between the two, but refused to take Izuku as he claimed he was a liability and lacked potential. He couldn't wait to show him his first week results.
"Right as rain, Kan-sensei!" Izuku was excited. He didn't know where this breakthrough came from, but this was a development he wasn't willing to turn away from, even with its mysterious influence. Jogging over to his classmates with a small hop in his step, he saw Setsuna's proud grin and Monama's even prouder smirk, though the pride behind that smirk may have been fueled by something else.
"Well damn Green, way to make a show. Gonna overshadow all of us?" Setsuna teased. She was able to watch everyone react differently, though most were the same and were simply blown away both figuratively and literally. The blowback from the wind pressure had forced most of the class to take a sturdier stance in response.
"Yea... It sure was something." He still had some thoughts running amuck in his mind. Frankly, he was a bit scared of how much influence the memories had on his personality and way of handling things. Gone was his meek and scaredy-cat attitude, he was fine with that to an extent, but this calm and apathetic mood he seemed to keep was throwing him off-kilter.
The assessment flew past. Izuku found himself studying his classmates quirks as a distraction from his unending emotional turmoil. Setsuna had proven herself as a skilled tactician, using her various flying limbs to bolster her already incredible athleticism. Monama was an odd case. Izuku had perhaps found a kindred spirit in quirk analysis, as Monama's Copy quirk would force him to think of various strategies for all types of quirks if the situation called for it. Izuku felt an iota of pride pop up from the swirling emotions, though nothing more came of it.
Itsuka Kendo, the teal eyed ginger that Izuku had a nostalgic feeling about, was the only person who came close to his monstrous ball throw score using her Big Hands to simply swat the ball away from her. She came close yes, but someone else had already surpassed it by that point.
A silver haired girl, whose hands hung limp from her held up arms, imitating a child's rendition of a dinosaur, had telepathically flung the ball as hard as her quirk allowed, throwing it some thousand meters away. It was an impressive score, but it didn't match the same intensity as Izuku's demonstration. Though he wondered if the telepath, Reiko Yanagi, could get along with his sister in any way.
Kinoko Komori had completely dominated the rapid side jumps. Her quirk allowed her to spread fungus spores that could grow into mushrooms. She obviously had an extensive knowledge of mushroom variants and had produced one that allowed here to be bounced in between them in a rapid pace. Though she was stuck bouncing between them and had to be freed by another student, Togaru Kamikiri.
That was another interesting thing. Izuku could see how Kamikiri passed the entrance exam. The blades he produced from his body were quite sharp, and his attendance at U.A meant they were able to cut through metal, in theory at least. Yet they provided no aide in the quirk assessment test. Izuku could see clearly the type of combat proficient hero that Kamikiri could become, but training at U.A would be less efficient for that type of hero. He'd have to train more like a soldier and delve into 24/7 combat to be a masterclass fighter. Another emotion popped into his heart but was quickly stomped away before he could explore it.
"Wow... everyone has such amazing quirks!" Izuku joyfully thought as he walked with his class to the lunch room. He was flipping through his notebook, aptly named 'Class 1-B quirk Analysis' and kept rereading his theories as his class conversed around him.
"Yea, but yours is so simple and flashy Midoriya. You put on a show without trying." Kendo, on his right, had said. Izuku frowned at her words.
"Your Big Hands are so much flashier though! And being a hero isn't about being flashy anyways." Izuku stared at his lunch tray. "It's about being able to save people and watch them smile every day." There was a swell, a new idea, and he couldn't stop his words. "It's about being able to watch people freely enjoy life, so no one has to suffer." Izuku already knew these words originated from his other part, but they still weren't wrong. "A-anyways... Kendo you have a lot of versatility with your quirk. Rescue operations would be so easy with you around."
"Thanks Midoriya, you're a pretty nice guy y'know?" Itsuka smiled. Class 1-B had split off into their own groups by this point, and Izuku was tailing along with Setsuna, Yui, Itsuka and Neito. Their group sat down, lunches in front of them ready to be eaten. Before anyone could pick up a pair of chopsticks however...
"IZU-NEE." A forest green projectile crashed into Izuku from behind. The 1-B students jumped a little at the sight of a nearly identical female version of Izuku hugging him from his back. "IZU OUR TEACHER IS SO SCARY!" She was whining into his back as he just reoriented himself. He could hear the shuffling of footsteps behind him.
"Eh?! You're the guy!" It was a sweet voice that broke into his listening proximity. Turning his head, he saw the familiar brown bob, though this time it was familiar on his terms. "You made it in! Wow! I really hoped they would, you saved my life." At this information, Setsuna's ears twitched and she decided to make herself known to the new group.
"Saved your life eh? So you're the damsel in distress behind these stories. Green sure is smooth when choosing cute girls to make himself acquainted with!" Setsuna detached her head at the end of her sentence to give the group a once over. Ochako, unprepared, balked at the seemingly severed floating head. A wave of nausea, similar to the overuse of her quirk, hit her like a truck.
Muffled by the back of his shirt, Izumi spoke out. "Oh thank God you made friends Izu. I was worried you'd be a hermit for your entire life." The girl finally released her grip from her brothers back and sat down next to him, ushering her 1-A friends to do the same. The group slowly descended upon the table, most across from Izuku, while Ochako had decided to sit next to Izumi.
"It's an honor to meet you Midoriya. I must admit, you figured out the true meaning behind the entrance exam, and for that you're the better man." Iida, who had chosen to sit down directly across from Izuku, had decided to stand once more. He bowed down for Izuku, surprising everyone present as he bent at a nearly perfect 90 degree angle. "I apologize for the things I had assumed about you. You have the makings of a hero!"
"Ah- uhh... Y-you don't have to go that far!" Izuku was a flustered mess. How could a legacy hero student be so overbearing? "I just kinda... moved without thinking. Someone needed help and I needed to be there, that's all."
"Yes I see, you are a truly humble hero!" Izuku made a choking noise at the praise. His embarrassment was stifled as Izumi decided to speak up.
"He's always been like this y'know? Jumping in to help people. Though his self-sacrifice can go a little far." She added distastefully. "Anyways. Enough about my brother, what's going on with your friend situation. Gonna introduce us?"
"O-oh! Sorry, yea. Izumi, these are my classmates, Tokage, Kendo, Kodai and Monama." In order, each person he introduced gave a small nod or confirmation of their existence. "And uh, this is my sister, Izumi." He said, addressing his classmates. Izumi waved and smiled cheerfully.
"Well ya already know my name, Midoriya, but I'm Ochako Uraraka." Ochako gave a small wave.
"I am Tenya Iida, it is a pleasure to meet such fine hero prospects from my sister class!" Iida's wave looked almost mechanical in nature.
"Kero. I'm Tsuyu Asui, but you can just call me Tsu. Thank you for the save in the exam by the way, Midoriya. Rib" Izuku smiled and just shook his head gleefully, already feeling the intense stare from Tokage at the other side of his head.
"Names Mina Ashido, super awesome to meet you guys!" Mina kept her eyes on Tokage, as if they were having a telepathic conversation. Izuku couldn't remove that stone feeling in his stomach, nor the equally foreboding dread from his other self.
"Eijiro Kirishima. Super manly to hear that you helped another person, Midoriya!" Eijiro's smile, bless him, was just too much brightness for the table to handle.
With introductions out of the way, the group of mixed classmates discussed their day so far. It was a serene and peaceful moment, one that Izuku's other part was having a field day enjoying. It was lulled and felt relaxed, relaxing him by proxy.
Peace and serenity. It was blissful and it surrounded him.
So why was he on edge?
-{ ~ }-
The end of the day let Izuku and Izumi unwind on their train home.
"What a day huh? Gah! But it was so amazing! U.A is just so- oooh!" Izumi squealed with what little energy she had left. She had told Izuku the story of their quirk assessment test and their, what she referred to as, 'pole up the ass' teacher."
"Well I'm glad my day was easier." Izuku replied with a grin and laugh. Izumi pouted but smiled the same.
"Y'know Izu, I'm not really seein a downside to your mood change." Izumi stopped for a moment to think. "Maybe it's a little selfish and rude to think that, and maybe you think this isn't the real you, but nothin bad has happened so..." Izuku sat on those thoughts. It was true. Nothing bad happened, in fact, it seemed more like his life had changed for the better. Still...
"I don't think it's that wrong. I was pretty meek and bland, for the most part. Creepy with the muttering and notetaking, but the changes I've gone through aren't bad. The only thing that scares me is not knowing why." Izuku looked up at the trains ceiling. "Why did this happen only after I... y'know?" He was mindful not to spill his secret quirk out to the public transit goers. "I just want to know why and how. I'm not scared of the change, that's already happened. I'm scared of what's next."
The rest of the ride was quiet as the siblings pondered their discussion.
-{ ~ }-
"So what do you think were doing for our mixed class with 1-A? After that orientation, I bet it'll be some lame ass bonding exercise!" Setsuna exclaimed proudly. "Well, it probably won't be lame if 1-A is like those guys from yesterday. Talk about a fun bunch!"
"Set, bonding with our sister class should be top priority. We're all training to become heroes. Getting to know them better would benefit us in the long run." Itsuka reprimanded.
"I am indifferent with our other class, for now, though I do hope they're friendly like that group with Midoriya's sister. That would be nice." Monama added.
"Hm." Kodai was as wordless as he had met her, but Tokage seemed to understand her.
"You can say that again! Just hope the teacher isn't the total prude that your sis was talking about Green."
The group entered the mixed class on time, as did the majority of 1-A that the same time. Izuku's group spotted Izumi's and the two converged, while the siblings watched. As droves of students entered the room, a certain ash blonde stared daggers into the extra head of forest green hair. The students sat down with bated breaths as they waited in anticipation.
"I AM HERE!" Every student shivered at the voice. "TO TEACH YOU HOW TO BE HEROES!" All Might dropped in from the top of the large classroom. Izumi's eyes sparkled, but in the back of her mind, had anticipated his arrival. Why else would All Might show up in Izuku's acceptance projection if he wasn't going to teach at U.A. Izumi was curious what her brother's reaction would be. He was definitely in awe, but it seemed mild compared to the rest of the students.
"That's his silver age costume..." Izuku muttered under his breath.
"That's right, I am here, as your Fundamental Heroics teacher. For today's class, we'll be executing battle trials!" Some people cheered at the idea while most were still excited at All Might teaching them. "But what good are hero students if they don't look the part?!" All Might held up a silver remote and pointed it to the floor in the center of the room. He clicked a button and out popped two panels, one marked 1-A and the other 1-B. Every student there instantly knew what was going on. "That's right. These briefcases hold your costumes. Line up and grab them, then change and meet at Training Ground Gamma!" No one had seen All might move, but they did hear the door close. Ina rush, every student went for their costumes. Izuku had decided to wait, while Izumi was susceptible to falling into the hype.
He hoped they accepted his last minute changes.
-{ ~ }-
"My my! Don't you all look like pros! Haha!" All Might gazed at the crowd of heroes in training. 'They're all so cool!' Yet his gaze lingered on one student in particular. That being the dark blue, almost black, costume of Izuku Midoriya
He didn't know this successor on a totally personal level, but he had imagined, being the self proclaimed number one All Might super fan, that his costume would try to emulate him in some way.
The suit bore no resemblance to the pro.
Izuku was inspecting his costume in the sunlight. At the very least, they got the color right. A lot of the equipment he had requested couldn't be completed for him so he was stuck with almost nothing to go with his skintight suit. It was dark gray all over, with red highlighting stripes going from his palms, up to his shoulders. When the red strip reached around his shoulder, it came down his sides, framing a simply designed white 'X' that was plastered over the center of his chest. It continued down his legs, and reached an end at the soles of his built in iron plated boots. His entire suit was made carbon fiber weave, so not only was it durable, but it stretched with his body, though the mask could be a little more breathable.
"Wow. For being so green the entire time, you sure do rock the dark gray and red. Didn't expect it from ya." Setsuna approached the boy from behind, her purple scaled suit highlighting some generous parts of her that Izuku refused to look at. Izuku decided to discard the mask for the moment.
"I probably should have chosen a visor instead of the mask but I just had to know what this full costume idea would turn out like. A lot of the gear I requested couldn't be completed in time either, so I'm stuck with just me." Used to Setsuna's once overs, Izuku decided to take in all of the hero costumes around him. Monama's was very classy, with what Izuku could only assume was a tuxedo based on a luxury brand. Setsuna's, as mentioned prior, was purple in color and was made to look scaly, though he imagined that the scales might have been armor plated in some way. Her purple eye mask was designed with the same scale patter, but didn't look as protective. Then, he looked at the two oddities.
Kendo and Kodai bore costumes that he knew were familiar, but looking at them in such in early stage of design made him realize how far they had come. Kendo wore a qipao that matched her eyes, with a corset fitted to her waist. Like Tokage, she wore a dainty eye mask, but this one was black in color and had enough length after being knotted to flow in the wind.
Kodai was in a simple red and white bodysuit, 'V' shaped patters running all along the suit, though her skirt had more of a 'U' pattern to it. Instead of a mast, Kodai opted for a baseball cap with a fin attached to the top.
"Kendo, I was thinking you could get some leggings made of the same carbon weave my costumes made of. It's very durable material. And Kodai, maybe look for some padded gloves that have thin materials over your fingertips." Izuku decided now would be a good time to don the mask once more, though he did give it a look before doing so. The black lenses that covered his eyes were one way, so no one could see his eyes and the red lines around the lenses were quite intimidating. The memories had influenced this costume, he knew that much, but wearing it radiated a calming feeling he hadn't known possible before.
"Day one of seeing costumes and your big brain is working overtime Izu-nee." He heard his sisters mocking voice coming from the tunnel entrance. "Though you always were smart abou- Woah, woah, what the hell is that costume?!"
"Oh... Did I forget to tell you? I love mom and all but I need a costume with more... durability." His mother had hand made him a costume, which was just a modified green tracksuit similar to the one he took the entrance exam in. Izuku decided to inspect his sister's costume, since he had only helped her so far into costume designing before she felt the need to make it a secret. He could see underneath the forest green dress that she wore a tight black bodysuit. Probably carbon fiber weave if his influence had any help. The dress was cut in a way that gave her tons of mobility and looked more like she had draped a torn banner over top of herself. He noticed the black flats she wore but could tell they had the same metal material his boots did. Her hair was also tied up into a long ponytail instead of her usual loose curls, though a few long strand of green hair did separate itself from the pack and decided to cascade down her face.
"Well... this change is drastic is all." Izuku could feel the words unsaid and the underlying meaning behind them.
You changed.
"Well now students, look alive!" All Might beckoned for the two classes attention. "You all look like mighty fine heroes right now I must say. But you're all zygotes just as much!" An intense look was affixed on All Might's face, sending a shiver down most of the students spines. Though the effect was lost when he pulled out a notecard that was comically smaller than his hand. "This battle trial is meant to simulate the most common type of villain encounters, that being indoor encounters! Here's the story! Villains are bunkered down in a five story building with a nuclear weapon and are threatening to blow it up. The hero team has to infiltrate the building and either subdue both villains with the provided capture tape or touch the bomb. Villains win by stalling the timer or beating the hero team. Students from both 1-A and 1-B will be paired up together and pitted against each other! To emulate as much realism as possible, teams will be decided by lots! " All Might gave a supporting grin as he looked up from his card. "You never know who you'll be fighting with out in the field. Even I have been forced into a team-up in public! Now, line up and grab a ball from this box!"
"Team A. Alright." Izuku muttered as he rolled the ball in his fingers. "I hope I can get someone from 1-A so I can analyze their quirk a little."
"A-are yo-you al-also team A-A?" Speak of the devil. The voice was so quiet and meek that he had a hard time discerning it from background noise. There his mysterious partner stood and boy he was huge! He was quite tall. The face of this imposing build was covered by a yellow eye mask and an orange respirator. The rest of his build was pressed against a skin tight yellow bodysuit with red accenting the chest and arms.
And again, Izuku found the sight nostalgic.
"Yea, looks like were in this together. I'm Izuku Midoriya." Izuku held out a hand to his partner who seemed to jump at the introduction. Izuku felt compelled to put him at ease. He spoke in a softer voice. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. I'm just excited to work alongside someone from 1-A."
"N-no I-It's o-o-okay..." The large boy seemed to take few stress relieving breaths. "I'm K-Koji Koda!" Honestly, the way he spoke and the way he was built just did not match in any way shape or form.
"It's really nice to meet you Koda." Izuku kept his soft tone, which the boy seemed to appreciate.
"Alright! Now that everyone is sorted and in their teams. The first match of the day will be Team A: Izuku Midoriya and Koji Koda versus Team D: Katsuki Bakugo and Togaru Kamikiri!" All Might had started to address the rest of the class, telling them to follow him once he sent the student's off into the training grounds, Izuku couldn't acknowledge it.
Crimson met emerald, a clash of egos separated from the rest of the world began.
The glares on their faces didn't end with a break in eye contact. They were etched into their faces at this point.
Neither one of them were truly prepared.

End Notes
A chapter two, by me? Who would have thought I could complete such a monumental task. 7k words, not super long but I couldn't really find a good spot other than here to stop. This story is focused on Izuku and his personal relationships, so if you don't like reading stories that go through every single battle trial or every single conversation with the other characters, you won't have to deal with that. Not to say there's anything wrong with those stories, I love them to death, but sometimes they're a bit much to handle. I will switch it up and focus on Izumi some times, she is his sister after all.
Izumi's costume is slightly inspired by Tatsumaki from OPM. I'm not good with design so I usually borrow ideas from people much better at this.
Izuku's new costume is inspired by Spider-Man 2099 from ATSV. It was going to be a very dark blue originally but I felt that was taking too much and went with dark gray instead.
Also over 100+ views at the time I'm writing this end section. Thanks for the interest. I actually want to see where this story goes. Usually I have an idea and then I end it before I can truly explore it, but this character is definitely one I want to see fleshed out.
R&R, if that's within your capabilities. I would like to see some theories as to what you think is up with Izuku.
Chapter 3 will start with the battle trials and end with the start of the USJ.
Edit: Added Battle Trial explanation. Miscellaneous word fixes.
