Luke Spencer hated this town. He's been hating it since he was mayor of it, years and years ago, but he couldn't bring himself to leave it. Not while the Cassadines still had a strong foothold on the place. Vampire attacks had gone up over the last couple of years and he knew why, even though no one believed him. Everyone seemed to like to keep their heads in the sand when it came to the vampires. People would blame attacks on gangs on PCP and other nonsense excuses that drove Luke up the wall.

He had tried to put up a fight himself, going up the hellcat Helena, who seemingly had died a few years back, but he didn't believe that. Helena was still around, he was sure. She just took to controlling the Cassadine clan from behind the scenes, letting Nikolas Cassadine seemingly be the figurehead...and that's what he was. A figurehead. He held no real power and Luke knew it. All the promises and pledges meant nothing. And the vampires grew in numbers and strength.

Luke had no choice but to call in help. Thankfully, nowadays, there were plenty of vampire slayers to go around. Not vampire slayers like Lucy Coe. Slayers in name only, but the real deal. Girls whose whole destiny was to beat back the darkness that the vampires brought. According to Faith Lehane, one of the USA's top slayers, they were sending a girl to Port Charles right away to help him with their vamp problem.

Luke couldn't be more grateful for the help. Faith had promised that the girl would arrive that afternoon. Luke had requested to meet with the slayer at his family restaurant Kelly's. It was a public place, so that should put the girl at ease.

He watched the door with interest, looking for any new faces to make an appearance and finally, one did.

She was a pretty African American girl. No...not pretty... drop-dead gorgeous really. She was petite and looked like the wind could blow her away like a feather. She didn't look like anyone that could take on a vampire or two and end up on top. It was her eyes though. Big doe brown eyes that gleamed with a power that only those that knew what to look for saw. Luke had to smile. He liked it. A deceptively small girl that vamps thought they could take a bite out of, just to be met with the business end of a stake.

He watched as the girl looked at a piece of notebook paper and then looked around for the person she was supposed to meet and that would be him.

"Looking for someone little lady?" Luke approached, a big welcoming smile on his face.

"Are you Luke Spencer?" The girl asked.

"The one and only! I take it that you're the vampire slayer they sent us," Luke guessed.

"Yes. I'm Trina Robinson," The girl smiled, sticking her hand out for a shake.

Amused by how tiny she was, Luke took her hand and then winced as that hand squeezed his a little too tightly, giving him a hint of just how strong she really was.

"That's quite a grip you have there, sugar."

"There's more where that came from," Trina winked. "So...Faith said you have a vamp problem?"

"That we do. A pretty nasty one. It's going to be a big job you'll be doing here. I hope that you're prepared to stay for quite a while."

Trina nodded. "Yes. My mother is a doctor who had just gotten a job at the local hospital. I'll be staying with her and going to PCU. So I'm ready to put down roots."

"That's good."

"So...how about we sit and you can tell me about what this job is all about. What makes these vampires any different from the run-of-the-mill ones? Are they all master vampires? Do they have some special powers?" Trina questioned, following Luke outside to a private patio, where they took a seat at one of the tables.

"Ok, for one. This is not just a gang of mindless vampires. They're...well I hate to admit...but smart...clever...enterprising."

Trina couldn't help but giggle. "Ok, go on."

"They're a family. Have you ever heard of Cassadine Enterprises?"

"Oh, yes. They own all kinds of things, right?"

Luke solemnly nodded. "They own it."

"Wait...you don't mean...the Cassadines? They're all vampires?"

"Most of them. "

"Ok...so you know for a fact that they're vampires?"

"I've known it since I stopped their weather machine scheme. I've been trying to fight them myself for years now...but...I've gotten old...and people in this town don't take my word for nothing anymore. To everyone else, they seem like a normal, insanely rich family. But to me and mine, we know exactly what they are and what they are capable of. I just...I can't keep putting my family and friends in the line of fire anymore, so...I called for help."

"You called me."

"Yeah. A real vampire slayer is needed to deal with these beasts."

Trina arched a brow. "What do you mean a real vampire slayer? Is there someone here claiming to be one?"

"Well...there's this old friend of mine that claims to be from a family of slayers, but I've never seen her slay a vampire as long as I've known her," Luke chuckled, taking out a cigar and lighting it. "So...now that you know who you're dealing with...the Cassadines...what are your plans?"

"Hmm...to be honest...I don't know yet. I'm curious about how deep their reach goes here. I think I'll look into finding that out. I can't just go and start killing them. At least I don't think I can…"

"Probably not a good idea to do something like that. Plus, they'd see you coming a mile away. The best thing is to keep your skills on the down low. If they don't know that a real slayer is in town, they better chance that they'll mess up and take their guard down."

"Hmm, you may be right there. Let me assure you, Mr. Spencer. I am here to do a job and I will do it. By the end of the year, this town will be free of the Cassadines. You have my word," Trina nodded, confident that she could do this. She's only been trained in her powers since she was twelve, but she's taken down some big names before. There was no reason to believe that she couldn't do it now.

"Oh, another thing. They seem to have daylight rings," Luke puffed away on his cigarette. "These rings give them the ability to walk among us and seem more like one of us. Makes it easier for them to hunt as well."

"Oooh...that's good to know," Trina took out her pad and began to write.

"You seem like a good, strong girl. I have every faith that you can rid us of our vamp problem, sugar," Luke gave her a wink.

Trina just gave him a smile and a nod, certain that she'd be able to do the job as well. After all, you've slayed one vampire, you've slayed them all, right?

…..

Trina found herself alone at last as she sat at the table, sipping on some hot cocoa, as she took out her sketchbook. Luke Spencer was long gone, satisfied with what he had seen and confident that the hated Cassadine family's days were numbered. Now she just sat at the table and did what she normally loved to do. People watch and perhaps, if inspired, sketch someone. So far, she wasn't so much inspired. Everyone just looked...normal.

It was when three young people her age walked out onto the patio that inspiration was struck. The boy and girl looked like everyday, ordinary college kids about her age. It was the tall dark haired one with the angelic face that caught her attention. She immediately opened up her portfolio and started sketching, taking small looks, thinking that she hadn't been noticed. She was so busy sketching, she didn't notice the subject of her drawing getting up and leaving the table until he was right upon her, taking a peak at her work.

"Wow, that's a really good picture of me. You're really talented," a deeply rich, teasing voice startled Trina out of the zone she had worked herself into. Her eyes widened to see that she had been noticed after all. She felt her cheeks heat up with embarrassment.

"Oh...um...thank you. I mean...I'm sorry...I should have asked...but I didn't know your name and it's been a while since I was inspired like that and…"

"Spencer. My name is Spencer," He smiled, which of course made him even more beautiful. "What is your name?"

"Trina. Trina Robinson. I'm new here…"

"I figured. I haven't seen you around town before. Not that I'm an expert. I had just returned from boarding school in France. But thankfully, I'm home now and getting reacquainted with old friends. Would you like to join us?"

Trina blinked in surprise. She hadn't expected to make friends this easily. "Sure. I'd like that."

Spencer held out a hand for her, which she gladly accepted, and allowed him to lead her over to where his friends were waiting.

"Guys, this is Trina Robinson. She's new here. Trina, these are my friends, Cameron Webber and the blonde is Josslyn Jacks. I just call them Cam and Joss."

"Hi, it's nice to meet you. Welcome to Port Charles," Joss smiled, holding out a hand to shake. Trina smiled and accepted the offer.

"I hope that Spencer here didn't run you off. He can be kind of a brat," Cameron also gave a friendly smile as Spencer held a seat out for her.

"Hey, that's not true, Townie," Spencer frowned, but his eyes were laughing. He knew that Cameron just teasing. Kind of.

"So, Trina, where are you from?" Joss asked, curious about the newcomer.

"Oh, Houston, Texas. My mother just got transferred here. She's a doctor at the hospital."

"Oh, then she'll probably get to know my mom. She's a nurse," Cameron happily grinned.

"Oh, that's cool!"

"My mom owns the metro court, but she's at the hospital all the time. I'm sure that she'll probably run into your mom too," Joss grinned.

"Yeah, this sure is a small town," Spencer chuckled.

"She'll get to know Spencer's family soon enough since there's always someone on the hospital board. Plus his grandmother is the mayor of the town," Cam said. "Well...to be honest, we kind of share her as a grandmother."

"So you two are cousins?" Trina arched a brow.

"Yeah. I think of Cam as family," Spencer nodded.

Trina was finding that she liked Spencer and his friends. Of course, Spencer did have the air of privilege and entitlement, but she could sense a kindness beneath all of that. "I never did get your last name, Spencer."

"Oh, that. I don't like talking about it much. People seem to change the way they act around me when they find out my last name."

"Really?"

"I doubt that it'd affect Trina much, since she's new here," Joss pointed out.

"Is it really that big of a deal? What's your last name?" Trina asked, now curious. It couldn't be that deep, right? It's not like it could be….

"Cassadine. My last name is Cassadine. Spencer Stefan Nikolasovitch Cassadine to be exact and pretentious," Spencer rolled his eyes.

Trina blinked in shock. How can that be? She touched Spencer's hand and it was warm and human, not cold like a vampire's. Luke Spencer had seemed so sure that the Cassadines were vampires. "Did you say Cassadine?"

"Yeah. You probably know of us. We own a lot of things. Mainly in this town, but some of our companies have gone national. Even international," Spencer chuckled, a certain arrogance in his voice. But there was something else there too, something that Trina found so appealing.

"They're also a family of vampires, according to Luke Spencer!" Cameron snorted.

"Oh my god, Cam! Don't do that! She doesn't need to know all that superstitious crap that your grandfather has been going around spouting," Spencer glared.

"Sorry! You're right. That was rude of me. I'm sorry Trina. It's just that my adopted grandfather is positive that Spencer's family are a bunch of vampires, even though they all walk around in the sun and I can vouch that both Spencer and his father are human beings! As for the rest of them…"

"You know, I'm getting out of here while you tarnish my family name in front of Trina," Spencer got to his feet, ready to leave. "I have a meeting with my father anyway."

"Hey, man. I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything," Cam frowned, feeling bad about his teasing.

"Don't worry about it," Spencer shrugged before turning his attention back to Trina, who looked a little troubled. Feeling flirty, he took her hand and kissed it. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Trina. I hope that we'll meet again soon. Perhaps you can draw me in a more friendly setting."

"I'd like that," Trina gave a tight smile, her mind reeling.

"I'll be back. Have to go to the little girl's room," Joss got up and went inside the restaurant, leaving Cameron and Trina alone.

Cameron smiled at Trina, already liking the newcomer, especially the effect she seemed to have on his cousin. "Spencer likes you. I never saw him just approach someone like that. Especially girls."

"Really? He seems like someone the girls would like," Trina smiled.

"The name gets in the way a lot. Plus he can be a bit of a prick at times. Most girls don't take the time to see what's underneath all of that. Which is a shame, because once you get to know him, there's a great guy there."

"You care about him."

Cameron just shrugged and chuckled. "Well, he's not only my cousin. He's my best friend. I know him pretty well."

Trina just smiled, her mind still reeling from the shock that she had met a Cassadine who wasn't a vampire or didn't seem to be. She did remember Luke Spencer talking about daylight rings, but she didn't notice one on Spencer. Maybe there was some misunderstanding and Luke Spencer was just a crazy old man. Or maybe there was more to the Cassadines than even he knew. Well, only time would tell and Trina had plenty of that. She was going to find out the truth about the Cassadines. One way or another.

After all. Vampires could never hide from a vampire slayer. They always ended up showing themselves eventually.

(In this story, my vampire lore is a little different. The Vampire Slayer is of course from Buffy and I may have some Buffy characters show up. I've tweaked the lore some though. In Vampire families like the Cassadines, if you're born a human as a Cassadine, when you hit 21, you're turned and you retain your soul. Which is why Spencer is not a vampire at the moment. The daylight rings come from Vampire Diaries. I didn't want to limit the Cassadines to night time hours. And for the time being, Luke Spencer is alive and well in Port Charles. Since I have other stories in the works, this one may not be updated as regularly until I get a few of my WIPs finished. I just couldn't wait to share this one. I'm a bit of a vampire fan, except for Twilight. I just can't get with sparkling vampires and them being invincible to humans lol )
