When things go horribly wrong one day, how will it affect the lives of a little blue heeler and her family?

Bluey Christine Heeler sat in a hospital lobby with her father sitting beside her. It was late in the night, normally she'd be asleep in her bed but here she was sitting quietly with her dad. Neither of them said a word to the other, neither of them seemed like their usual selves, especially Bluey. The seven year old stared at the floor beneath her, feeling true anxiety, dread, and fear for the first time. Bandit was feeling these same things himself, but unlike Bluey, he was also feeling something completely different, something even he couldnt put his finger on at the moment all he knew was that whatever he was feeling was truly horrible. "How do you think mum is holding up?" She was trying to break the silence between the two of them but Bandit seemed too distracted to even respond, his thoughts were racing in his head and his hands were trembling. Not long after that an adult Red Heeler joined them, her eyes stained red from crying Chilli looked at Bandit and managed to speak through her sniffles "She looks like she's in so much pain…and I feel so useless to her right now" Bandit had managed to grab his wife's hand in an attempt to comfort her, he was holding back his own tears "All we can do is hope Bingo manages to pull through" Bluey closed her eyes, clenched her hands as her claws were beginning to dig into her thighs and bit her lips while trying but failing to hold her tears in. Bingo Heeler was in critical condition, and this was all Bluey's fault due to an accident that could've been avoided…if only Bluey stayed calm…if only she NEVER got angry earlier that day.

-Around 8 hours ago-

Bluey and Bingo had been playing games all day as usual. On this particular day they decided to play more competitive games against each other. Bingo had managed to have a streak of good luck as she kept winning against her older sister. After 4 losses in a row Bluey was starting to become slightly irritated. "What game should we play next?" the younger girl asked her older sister. Bluey had thought about what to play for a moment while doing her best to hide her anger, what could they play where Bluey had a chance to break her losing streak? "How about a simple game of naughts and crosses?" Bingo simply nodded and began to draw a 3x3 grid. Unfortunately for Bluey, she was too busy thinking about her past losses and before she knew it, Bingo had gotten three in a row. "ARE YOU KIDDING?!" by this point she was furious. Bingo had smiled but her celebration was short-lived because Bluey walked away without saying anything after. "Bluey, are you okay?" Bluey wouldnt turn to face her "I'M FINE!" she retorted before walking into their house. Bingo was saddened by her sister's anger, it wasn't her fault her sister had a losing streak. They were playing competitive games against each other which meant someone would have to lose. "I'm sorry" Bingo whispered as she walked into their house with her head pointed towards the ground, she felt like her sister must've hated her. Soon afterwards their parents noticed the tension between the two and decided to take them out to lunch to try and calm their nerves. This would manage to help Bluey calm down, but only temporarily. After they arrived at the restaurant they were seated at an empty table and looked at the menus for their orders. Bandit ordered a steak dinner, Chilli would order creamy garlic prawns, and Bluey and Bingo would both get small burgers with chips. "You can have my share of the chips Bluey, I'm not that hungry anyway" Bingo gave her sister a small smile, only for Bluey to nod in response. After placing their orders and waiting, the waiter had returned with their meals and complimentary drinks. Bluey had reached for her drink but she wasn't close enough…or at least not as close as Bingo. Bingo decided to help out and grab the cup for Bluey, only for her hand to slip and cause the drink to fly into the air and splash all over bluey, getting in her face and all over her face. Bluey growled at her sister who proceeded to reach for the napkins to try and help dry Bluey off. In her panic she then knocked all the chips on Bluey, making her fur sticky and filled with crumbs. "STOP!" Bluey yelled, with her losing streak and now the entire situation it was clear to her that today was not her day. To quickly deescalate the situation Chilli would pick Bluey up and carry her to the restroom to clean her off while Bandit would use the remaining napkins to clean up the spilt drink. "That was wild huh?" Bandit would ask Bingo Before he turned to face her and see her crying "What's wrong mate?". Bingo stared at the table while rubbing her nose "I was just trying to cheer her up from earlier but I think I made things worse". Bandit pulled her into a hug, it pained him to see either of them upset, and it hurt him more to see them upset with each other "You're trying to cheer your sister up, and that's what matters" she simply nodded and hugged her father back. In the bathroom Chilli helped her daughter get the sticky juice out of her fur and decided to talk to her "Bluey, is everything okay?" Bluey raised her eyebrow and looked at her mum "What do you mean?" Chilli petted her head and spoke calmly to her "You seem to be in a bad mood today, and one far worse than usual". After hearing her say this, Bluey had remembered how she had been feeling "I…I don't know mum, earlier Bingo kept beating me in our games and I didnt win once, and I tried calming down and forgiving her but then she threw my juice and the chips all over me" While she wasn't technically wrong, it's not like Bingo did those things out of malice towards Bluey. "Sweetheart, do you think maybe she was just trying to help? Or Maybe just trying to make it up to you for making you feel angry?" Bluey hadn't thought about it but she realized that Chilli was right. It's not like Bingo would do those things to be mean, she just wanted Bluey to not be angry with her. Soon afterwards, the two returned to the table with Bandit and Bingo, Bluey didn't say anything but had chosen to sit next to Bingo again, a sign of hope for her parents that she was finally calming down. While Bluey still felt a bit of anger, she was trying to suppress it for everyone's sake. After the four finished their meals the girls would each be given fortune cookies and they would take a walk to the park together. "I think I'll practice doing backwards skip bar" Bluey told her family while looking at her fortune cookie, she had planned to save it for later. The four of them finally made it to the crosswalk and Bandit would proceed to push the button for the lights to change, here Bingo decided to break her fortune cookie in half and hand the paper to her mum "What does this say?" The little four year old still wasn't good at reading yet but was curious. Chilli took the piece of paper and read it aloud to her "When you take a trip and fall, it will be your last '' Bingo's eyes widened by hearing this. Chilli had also seemed disturbed by this and quickly glanced to Bandit who read it himself and did his best to interpret it "I'm not sure what this means" he inspected it closer "...but I think it's a mistranslation, see it says trip and fall but it probably means trip in fall but don't take it seriously kid, these are usually nonsense anyways" Bluey had been watching the light and the timer, waiting for it to signal that they could cross. The light turned green and a small smile spread on her face "Green light everyone" The four of them started to cross while Bingo followed behind Bluey while eating her cookie, the timer for the light to change was getting shorter. Bingo would drop half of her cookie and quickly turn to pick it up, however when she turned around again she would lose her balance and trip on the sidewalk. The light would turn red behind them. This would cause her to fall and knock her sister over, which in turn would cause Bluey to crush her cookie when she fell and also bite her tongue. The immense pain in her mouth and the broken snack he was saving was the final straw, she became immensely angry with her sister as the cookie being crushed felt like adding insult to injury. Both sisters stood up and Bingo would reach to her sister "Bluey, are you-" "NO!" Bluey growled at her sister louder than before "TODAY HAS BEEN HORRIBLE BECAUSE OF YOU" Chilli feeling like this was uncalled for and quickly tried to calm her again"Bluey! That's not" Bandit chimed in "Kid, chill before someone gets hurt!" before they could finish talking Bingo would move closer and hug her sister, this anger was uncharacteristic of her "I didn't mean to-" "GET OFF OF ME!" Bluey in her rage fueled mind didn't even want to be touched by Bingo. The larger and older sister would close her eyes and push Bingo away from her. Her body was filled with adrenaline, what felt like shoving to Bluey was really a very hard push. Bingo was going off the sidewalk…towards the busy street! Bandit and Chilli both raced to grab her before anything- thud

Bluey opened her eyes, and upon doing so felt her heart drop. She saw a car hit Bingo and send her into the air, before she would land on the ground motionless, it all happened in a matter of seconds but to Bluey it felt like it was happening in slow dogs surrounding the area had stopped to observe the scene before them. Bandit and Chilli would let out the loudest blood curdling screams as they ran to their younger daughter. The driver who didn't have the time to slow his car down before hitting the young pup would stop their car a few seconds later, and out of it came a familiar yellow lab - their neighbor Pat "BINGO?!" He would rush over to the Heelers who had moved Bingo onto the sidewalk "CALL AN AMBULANCE PAT" Bandit yelled in a complete panic. 'R-right" he would pull his phone out of his pocket and dial emergency services. Chilli was holding Bluey, and doing her best to keep her calm but was failing to do so since she was in a panic herself. Bluey's hands were shaking, she did this tears filled her eyes as she watched her little sister breathing weakly. She may have been angry with Bingo, but she didn't mean for things to go this far; she just wanted Bingo to leave her alone. She reached for her little sister as she heard the sounds of sirens approaching.

-Current Time-

The three Heelers were all worried over Bingo, a doctor walked over to them before pulling his mask down and staying quiet for a few seconds before speaking "Ma'am…Sir, she's awake and she's asking for the three of you" Bandit quickly stood up and looked at the doctor "How is she?!" The doctor turned away from the family and shook his head without saying another word "...she's in room 413" The doctor quickly walked away, while he was used to losing patients before, none had been as young as Bingo. Chilli's breathing sped up, she knew that the doctor's behavior indicated the worst. Bandit led the other two through the halls looking for the room Bingo would be in "413….413" Bluey's mind was blank as she was being led by her hand, this isn't happening…it was all a terrible dream, just the worst possible nightmare…she'd wake up and see Bingo sleeping peacefully and forget anything about this horrid dream. They finally approached the room, to Bandit, this felt like he was going to the gallows, to Chilli this felt like the situation with her mother all over again except this time it was worse since the roles were reversed as the child was the one in a bed. "I'll…stay out here" Bluey spoke quietly, she didn't want to see her sister in pain, she just wanted to wake entered the room without saying anything and Chilli stayed with Bluey. Bingo's vision was terrible but she could make out the figure of her father, she weakly smiled at him. Seeing her smile made his heart break, just a few hours ago she was perfectly fine "Hey Bingo" he started to speak "You're going to be okay" he grabbed her tiny hand with his own "You're going to be a doctor…a-and help sick dogs right?" He started to tear up at his own words. He remembered how he and Chilli got her a toy doctor bag for Christmas at Stripe's house "and you're going to take care of me and your mum, like we take care of you" She didn't say a word but simply nodded at him. "Oh biscuits" Bandit said under his breath "I love you kid" he quickly gave her a kiss on her head and held her gently, to not cause her any more pain. Chilli soon entered after "My sweet little Bingo" she couldn't hold back her tears any longer "I still remember the day you were born, I promised to keep you safe" Bandit place his hand on Chilli's and looked his wife in her eyes "We promised her" Chilli continued and looked in Bingo's eyes "I'm so sorry if it hurts'' Bingo used her energy to try and wipe her mother's tears away "d…on't cry mama" Hearing Bingo spoke surprised them both, her voice sounded grainy and strained but she wanted to reassure them. "Bluey, please come in here" Chilli said while facing the door. Bluey clenched her hand, she didn't want to accept what was happening, then she walked in the room to join her family. She saw her parents on both sides of her sister, then she saw her sister who looked bruised, weak, and pale. Bingo's smile widened when she saw her older sister and her tail wagged a little "Bluey '' blurry or not she was happy to know Bluey came to see her she winced a little as she faced her. Bluey quickly hugged her sister and started to sob "I'm so so sorry Bingo" Bingo put her arm around her sister to hug her back "Please get better soon, I promise I'll never yell at you again I won't even care if you beat me at every game" At this point Bandit had started to cry watching Bluey plead for something that wouldn't happen, Chilli simply closed her eyes. Bingo just looked where she believed Bluey's eyes were "I forgive you" she playfully poked Bluey's nose then laid down, her breathing slowed "I love you…Bluey" Bluey's eyes widened as she watched the young red heeler "Bingo, what about Bob Bilby? What about Lila?!" She had hoped that mentioning the small maltese and the puppet she wanted to play with again would help Bingo somehow. However, Bingo's eyes had closed after she said these words. All Bluey could do was sob uncontrollably "Bingo, please don't go, I love you so much" Her heart monitor had let out a piercing ring. "Bingo?!" Bluey panicked "BINGO?!" she had gripped her sister's hand tightly as if trying to wake her up. Bandit grabbed Bluey "Bluey…mate…Bingo's" Bandit couldn't even finish without getting choked up, he'd never figure he'd be saying that sentence about either of his children. Chilli had let out a loud wail, along with the miscarriage she had in the past, this made the second time she had lost a child. Bandit would leave the room and step outside the hospital where he would meet up with Pat who was waiting with anticipation "Is she alright?!" Bandit just lowered his head and sighed "She's gone Pat" The yellow lab would fall to his knees and begin to cry as well, he couldn't help but blame himself.

Bingo Heeler was dead, she'd never live to see her 6th birthday as Bluey had, her family was devastated, what started out as a normal happy day ended as a day of sorrow and regrets. Bluey felt rage once again however unlike before this rage wasn't directed towards anyone else, she was furious with herself even more now that as much as she wished and pleaded it to be, this wasn't the end of a dream.

It was the beginning of a long, horrible nightmare, and it was all her fault.

A.N.: say what you want about this, I'm no expert when it comes to writing but I will try doing more, I will also try to add more to this story but for now I'll see how I feel about this. See you next time~
