Alright, readers. Here is the eleventh chapter of this story!
Yeah. As you can see, I've been scraping the bottom of the barrel with this chapter, and it's a clear sign that I'm starting to run out of ideas. Nonetheless, this is where we start approaching the end of this story, in the next couple of chapters or so.
Anyway, this chapter will focus on Jake leaving his school to head home to the Zoo Aquarium, we see Kerry having to leave Adam's house, the pack members attempt to spy on Jake in the spider monkey exhibit, and a few other things will occur. How will this go? Read and find out now!
AT CHARLES DARWIN MIDDLE SCHOOL - 7:58 P.M:
By now, it was almost 8 p.m. at Charles Darwin Middle School. And in Principal Pixiefrog's office, the principal himself was pretty much snoozing, as he had consumed his last latte hours ago. And because he didn't hear back from Jake yet. So he felt that maybe a few minutes of sleep wouldn't hurt him.
He had been sleeping for a good 15 minutes or so when he was heard snoring away on his desk. He was also heard mumbling in his sleep. And if anyone were to witness this, they probably wouldn't understand what he was saying.
Suddenly, his sleep was finally disturbed as the door was slammed open, as Jake entered and announced himself to him.
"Hey, Principal Pixiefrog!" Jake yelled. "I'm all set with the tasks that you wanted me to do!"
This caused Pixiefrog to yelp and jump as he got a hold of himself. "Huh? Wuh? Mother? Why are disturbing me while I'm...huh? Spidermonkey?"
As soon as he saw Jake, he shook his head and brought himself to attention and alert while focusing on the spider monkey before him. After adjusting his glasses, he cleared his throat and spoke.
"So, Mr. Spidermonkey? I just heard you correctly," he started. "You got all of the tasks and assignments that you were given as punishment for tonight?"
"That's right PF," Jake confirmed with a nod. "The bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, cafeteria, and all the other rooms have been cleaned."
"Including the gymnasium I imagine," Pixiefrog deadpanned.
"Yup. Took care of the ruined gymnasium too," Jake nodded.
"I see," Pixiefrog took out a remote from his drawer and held it in his right hand. "Well let's see exactly how much of a 'good job' you've done by looking through the surveillance cameras that we have all over the school."
He then pressed a button, which showed him the TV screens of every room in the whole school. Every room was shown in black and white, as he examined the screens carefully.
"Mhmmm...Mhmmm..." Pixiefrog had examined what each surveillance camera was displaying on the screens and was rather intrigued by what he witnessed. "Not bad. Not bad."
After a few minutes, he was satisfied as he turned his attention back towards Jake.
"Alrighty then, Spidermonkey. I'm impressed," he said as he pressed a button on the remote to get the screens to go back up into the slots on the ceiling. "Not only did you manage to clean and scrub all of the rooms in the school. But I also noticed that you didn't pull any tricks up your sleeve this time. Therefore, I am convinced that you kept your word for all of this."
"See," Jake proclaimed. "I told you that I wouldn't try anything this time."
"Yeah. But more important, this didn't cost us some extra dough to get the place cleaned up by a professional," Pixiefrog told him. "Now that's something."
"Right," Jake sighed. "Welp, I best be going now. Guess I'll see you tomorrow Principal PF."
"Yeah, yeah. You may go, and I'll..." Pixiefrog trailed off when he saw that Jake already left his office, and possibly the school. "...see you tomorrow..."
Seeing that he was the only one in school, Pixiefrog shrugged his shoulders. "Well, another day is done at CDMS. Guess I better lock up the building since Warthog left for a manicurist some time ago."
With that in mind, the principal grabbed his hat and the school keys as he hopped off of his desk and left his office. By the time he was out of the school, he closed the entrance and locked up the doors to make sure no intruders will invade the school.
Once he made sure it was locked, Pixiefrog headed for his car, hopped into the driver seat, started it up, and proceeded on driving it back to his home.
When he got home, he would make sure to get some shut-eye and prepare himself for another day of school tomorrow, which was the last day of the school week. And one more day before Adam Lyon was transferred out of the school for good.
Principal Pixiefrog 'definitely' had to be ready for tomorrow when Adam spends his last day at CDMS, so he could depart with no problem. That's for sure...
AT ADAM'S HOUSE - 8:28 P.M.
Meanwhile, back at Adam's house, it was clear that it was close to 8:30 P.M. And that meant it was about time for Kerry to head home. Kerry looked at the clock from the couch and saw that it was 8:28, and she realized she had to go.
"Wow. I can't believe it's almost 8:30, already," Kerry shrugged casually. "Oh well. Time flies when you're having fun, right Adam?"
If one were to look at Adam's face, one would be convinced that he was 'definitely' lovestruck, with his half-lidded eyes, that goofy grin on his face, and all the red kiss marks that were all over his face. Those were all courtesy of Kerry herself.
Truth be told, he didn't want this night to end. Unfortunately, since it was still a school night, he 'really' didn't have much of a choice but to send Kerry on her way for the night.
After shaking his head, he then said in a still slightly lovestruck tone.
"Yeah, I guess so," Adam sighed. "Nights like these only come seldom, you know Kerry?"
"Don't I know it," Kerry said as she got up and headed for the door. "Well anyway, I best be going. See you, Adam. We'll see each other tomorrow, okay?"
"Okay," Adam sighed happily again. "Goodnight Kerry."
"Right. Goodnight Adam," Kerry opened the door and stepped out. "See you tomorrow."
"Yeah," Adam said dreamily as she closed the door behind her. "See you tomorrow."
As soon as she was gone, Adam decided to get up and shake his head, as he realized that he should get ready for bed himself.
"Well, I might as well get ready for bed," Adam said. "Tomorrow will be the last day that I go to Charles Darwin Middle School. I should probably make the most of it while I can."
With that said Adam got up from the couch and headed upstairs to get ready for bed. He could only hope that tomorrow would be done and over with and that things would be much better for him afterwards...
AT THE ZOO AQUARIUM:
Meanwhile, at the Zoo Aquarium, it was shown that Jake Spidermonkey had made it back to the zoo. The zoo was no different than any other zoo, as there were different exhibits for each of the animal species. Also worth noting were the restaurants that were shown, such as the Sloppy Trough, and a few others. They were 'clearly' meant for the zoo animals during their spare time.
Sneaking his way through the zoo, Jake jumped from rock to rock until he got to a tree, in which he swung from branch to branch until he got to an intersection. From there, Jake made a turn in the direction that the spider monkey exhibit was located.
But what he didn't notice was that he was being watched. Slithered and wrapped around a sole branch on one of the trees, with a pair of binoculars wrapped around his neck, Slips had witnessed Jake getting back to the zoo rather late at night. And he had this suspicious feeling that he was up to something.
Thanks to what Mandrill told him and the others this afternoon, he also had to keep his eye on him. After seeing this, he fell from the tree, keeping quiet with the grunting, and got out a walkie-talkie from his shirt with his tail and then pressed a button while speaking into it.
"Slips to Windsor Gorilla. Come in, Slips to Windsor," he spoke into the talkie with a loud whisper. "Do you read me?"
At the lowland gorilla exhibit, we see Windsor standing in front of the mirror, brushing his teeth with nothing but his boxer shorts and beanie on. He was taking care of his teeth when he heard Slips calling his walkie-talkie.
With that, he then stopped with his teeth, picked up the walkie-talkie, pressed the button, and spoke into it.
"Yes. This is Windsor Gorilla speaking," he responded. "What's the scoop, Slips?"
"It's Jake," Slips told him. "He came back to the zoo a little later than normal. At about 8:30."
"Ah. So he's managed to arrive later than usual upon serving day 1 of his punishment laid out to him by Principal PF, correct?" Windsor wondered.
"Yes. But that's not all," Slips then added. "Jake is also acting like he's up to something. Like he's got something planned dude."
"Yes. I should've figured that he'd want to lay out his plan for Adam as Mr. Mandrill told us this afternoon," Windsor sighed. "Very well. I shall alert the girls and let them know what's going on with Jake. You just wait for me near the spider monkey exhibit, understood Slips?"
"Hear ya loud and clear Windsor," Slips remarked. "This is Slips, over and out dude!"
"Right. Copy that," Windsor said as he put that walkie-talkie away. He then got out another walkie-talkie that connects to the one that the girls are holding. He then pressed the button and spoke into it. "Windsor to Lupe Toucan and Ingrid Giraffe. This is Windsor Gorilla speaking. Do you read me?"
In the toucan exhibit, we see Lupe kicking back with a couple of cucumbers over her eyes while Ingrid was there for a visit, giving herself a pedicure for her hooves. They were pretty much doing their own thing when they heard the walkie-talkie going off with Windsor speaking through it.
"Uhhh, hey Lupe, it's the walkie-talkie," Ingrid stopped doing her hooves. "Windsor has something to tell us."
"Oh. Fine," Lupe sighed as she took the cucumbers from her eyes and picked up the talkie, and spoke into it. "Yes? This is Lupe Toucan speaking with Ingrid Giraffe. This better be good."
"Oh I think this should satisfy the both of you," Windsor got down to the point. "Slips just called me and said that Jake came back to the zoo later than when he normally does."
"What?" Ingrid decided to speak into the talkie. "Your saying that Jake made it back later than usual?"
"Yes. That's precisely what I'm saying," Windsor then continued. "And there's more. It seems that he's probably planning to do something for Adam when he gets back to his exhibit."
"Alright. So you're saying that we should head on over to the spider monkey exhibit?" Lupe wondered.
"If it isn't too much of a hassle," Windsor said.
"No. No. I was just working on my face, with the cucumbers and stuff," Lupe told him.
"And I was doing my hooves and giving them a pedicure," Ingrid added.
"Right. Well, meet up with me and Slips near the spider monkey exhibit to see what we can do about Jake," Windsor advised them. "It's imperative that we find out what it is for ourselves. As Mr. Mandrill told us, we need to make sure it's decent, and won't drive Adam off the wall again."
"Yes! We get it! WE GET IT! We'll be there shortly," Lupe yelled. "But when we get there, you two chicos better have something for us, and that our time isn't wasted! Comprende!?"
"Yes. It shouldn't be," Windsor said. "This is Windsor Gorilla, over and out."
"Yeah, yeah, we copy it, and all that other stuff, okay? Bye!" Lupe told him before hanging up the call and turning to Ingrid. "Alright, Ingrid. You heard the gorilla. We best make our way near the spider monkey exhibit right now."
"Oh," Ingrid sighed. "So much for my pedicure."
"Ingrid, forget the pedicure for now! This is Jake we're dealing with," Lupe instructed her loudly. "We have to keep an eye on him so he doesn't do anything else to hurt or insult Adam!"
"Right. Sorry," Ingrid apologized. "We better get going right now."
"Sí. Let's," Lupe motioned her to the exit.
With that, the two girls left the toucan exhibit and headed straight for the area near the spider monkey exhibit where Windsor and Slips were waiting for them. This was going to be a long night for the four animal students...
A few minutes later, near the spider monkey exhibit, we see Slips standing there when Windsor showed up, wearing a particular set of black clothes that he was keeping for the occasion. He took notice of the black shirt and beanie hat that Slips was wearing, and he decided to comment on that.
"I take it that you recalled having to wear that particular beanie and shirt for such a drastic mission," Windsor proclaimed.
"I could say the same about you, dude," Slips remarked. "You look like one of those men in black, man."
"Classy. But not quite what I had in mind," Windsor told him. "You see, these outfits were meant specifically for the instant where we have to spy on Jake and whatever plan it is he's up to."
"Oh, now you tell me," Slips moaned before noticing something nearby. "Oh! Windsor? Here come the girls."
"Ah. Just in time too," Windsor turned to face Lupe and Ingrid along with Slips. "Well ladies, you've made it. Though I'm quite sure I recall informing you two to wear black for this imperative mission that we partook ourselves in for our friend's sake."
"Well, excuse me, Windsor," Lupe rolled her eyes. "We didn't exactly have the time to dress in all-black clothing for this mission that we're on! Not to mention, black is so tacky these days!"
"And besides, I thought the only thing that was important was that we check up on Jake," Ingrid pointed out. "I don't think the choice in color is a big deal. I-If that's alright with you."
"I don't see anything wrong with it," Slips shrugged. "We're just seeing if Jake is planning anything major or not, in regards to Adam, dudes."
"Okay. So I guess the color choices that we are wearing are just about irrelevant in this situation," Windsor sighed. "What matters is that we spy on Jake and see what he's up to, in regards to his supposed scheme."
"Sí! That's exactly what this whole setup is all about!" Lupe yelled. "Now let's vámonos and check up on our little monkey friend!"
"You don't have to remind me twice," Windsor said. "Let's roll."
Nobody argued with him as the four of them headed for the spider monkey exhibit and were about to sneak over and spy on Jake without being noticed by him. This was going to be interesting for the four of them once they see what he was doing...
Eventually, after taking the secret underground entrance as a shortcut to the exhibit without being spotted, the four of them made it into the spider monkey exhibit.
The exhibit was nothing special. There were a few jungle trees, and some large rocks and boulders as decorations. But aside from that, there wasn't anything unusual with the place that wasn't any different from some of the other primate exhibits in the zoo.
At the moment, Windsor, Slips, and Lupe were hiding behind a massive boulder while Ingrid opted to hide behind the jungle tree since she was so tall. They looked and saw no signs of Jake's parents at all.
They could safely assume that they were asleep elsewhere in the exhibit. Seeing that the coast was clear, Windsor, Slips, and Lupe headed over quietly to the tree that Ingrid hid behind. Peeking from behind the trunk, the four of them examined the entire area to see if they could find out where Jake was.
"Any sign of Jake anywhere, Windsor my man?" Slips queried as he squinted his eyes to see if he could find him.
"Negative. I'm not seeing any signs of Jake's whereabouts in this exhibit that he calls his humble abode," Windsor shook his head as he kept gazing in all directions.
"Well you better look harder," Lupe demanded. "I did not miss an excellent manicure appointment for nothing. So let's find him!"
"Lupe? I must insist that you keep your voice down," Windsor warned her. "Otherwise, you'll blow our cover, Jake will spot up from above, and the entire mission will be compromised."
As Lupe was barking back at him for that, Ingrid heard something nearby and her ears twitched at the sound of them. She then decided to get the others' attention.
"Pssst! Guys?" Ingrid whispered loudly to them. "I 'actually' hear something nearby."
Stopping their pointless argument, Windsor and Lupe leaned over to listen to it as well, along with Slips. After a moment of careful listening, they could hear something.
"Your right Ingrid. I can hear something covering from that hole over there," Windsor pointed towards the hole that he saw in the center of some rocks. "And from what I'm hearing, it sounds like our simian friend is in there."
"Right on dude," Slips smiled at that. "Now let's go check out what it is that Jake is doing."
"Yes. Let's get this done and over with," Lupe was all for that.
With nothing else said, the four of them snuck over to the hole that Jake was supposedly hiding in. Once they got in front of it, they leaned over to listen as to what Jake was saying.
They couldn't make out what Jake was saying at first, as all they heard was uttering, humming, and sighing. But after a few moments or so, they heard him speak clearly.
"Alrighty. Well, that should do it," he was saying. "It isn't much, but I think it's something that Adam might like, and would consider patching things up with me. Though I doubt it'll stop him from leaving CDMS, it's a start at least."
"Oh yes. He's 'definitely' planning something for Adam," Slips whispered.
"Okay. I suggest one of us should poke our head through that hole and see what it is he's planning," Windsor then faced Ingrid. "Ingrid, would you do the honor?"
"Oh yeah. Of course. I would be glad to," Ingrid told him softly. "I'm on it."
From there, Ingrid poked her head through the hole and observed what was going on in there without making a sound. She then heard Jake talking to himself as she turned toward the direction of the sound.
"Welp, that just about does it," Jake was seen looking at his opened notebook showing a drawing that he did. "Uh, it doesn't look anything like what I drew in my notebook, but it's close enough."
Jake then closed his notebook as Ingrid got a good look at what it was that Jake made. What she saw left her speechless for a couple of moments. She only got out of her trance when her friends were whispering to her.
"Ingrid? What's going on in there?" Lupe whispered loudly to her.
"Did you find anything peculiar and intriguing," Windsor whispered.
"What did you find out," Slips also whispered.
This got her attention as she pulled her head out of the hole and turned to face them.
"Guys? You're never gonna believe this," she uttered. "Jake had made something for Adam."
"Well don't leave us in suspense all night. What is it you witnessed?" Windsor asked her.
"I'll tell you. It's..." Ingrid then proceeded to whisper something important to each of them, which could only be understood by the ones who were being told it.
In a matter of seconds, Ingrid's friends were completely shocked and surprised by what she had told her. They couldn't believe what she had revealed to them.
As soon as she was done whispering it to them, Windsor felt the need to ask her. "Ingrid? Is this true?"
"Of course. I wouldn't lie about this," Ingrid whispered loudly. "Go and see it for yourselves."
"Fair enough," Windsor shrugged as he, Slips, and Lupe decided to check this out for themselves.
Slips decided to check it first and was shocked by what he saw. "Oh my. Dudes? Looks like this one is BIG..."
"What are ya saying? Lemme see," Lupe pushed Slips out of the way and stuffed her head and big beak through the whole and saw it for herself. "Holy molibdeno. He didn't. He 'really' didn't."
"My turn to see it for myself," Windsor pulled Lupe out and stuffed his right eye into the hole since his head was too thick to fit through it. "Gasp. Well, what do you know?"
With that, Windsor pulled his head back, pushed his right eye back into its socket, removed his hand from it, and blinked a few times before stopping.
"Well, it appears that what Ingrid told us was true," Windsor said softly. "Jake has 'apparently' made the next big thing just for Adam."
"Tell me about it," Slips agreed. "Do you think Adam will get a kick out of what he made for him?"
"Maybe he will. Maybe he won't," Lupe shrugged. "All we know for sure is that this is something big that I never expected to come from Jake at all."
"You certainly have a valid point there, Lupe," Windsor admitted. "It's been a rare occurrence for our simian friend to show any kind of consideration and thought into what our human friend Adam likes. The number of times where Jake showed he cared for Adam, his feelings and wellbeing could be counted down with one or two hands."
"But dude, I don't have hands or legs. I'm a snake," Slips informed him. "Lupe has wings and talons. And Ingrid has hooves."
"It was a figure of speech Slips, my friend," Windsor deadpanned. "And I'm aware that you guys don't have fingers of the sort. It's just proving a point that Jake hasn't respected Adam's wants and needs all that much."
"I completely agree," Lupe admitted. "Had Jake done this sort of thing for Adam more often, then maybe they would've remained amigos, and on good terms."
"Yeah. A-And Adam wouldn't have to transfer from our school," Ingrid admitted shyly.
"Well, what should we do now, dudes?" Slips asked. "We know what Jake has planned, but we don't want him to know that we know about it."
"The answer to that is simple," Windsor told him straight up. "I suggest we bail and get out of this exhibit before someone catches us in here. And go back to our respective exhibits that we're supposed to be in right now."
"I couldn't agree more," Lupe agreed as she was flying again. "Let's scram before someone catches us fooling around in here."
"Yeah. We don't want to get into any trouble," Ingrid told them. "Let's go."
"I'm way ahead of you on that, dudes," Slips said in agreement.
Without saying anything else, the four of them ran off and headed for the secret entrance, and went their separate ways to where they were supposed to be, individually. It didn't take long before they were out of the spider monkey exhibit and split up for the night.
As for Jake, he was admiring his work when he thought he heard something. He then held out his right hand and placed it over his right ear.
"Hmmm, that's strange. I could've sworn that I just heard someone up above talking just now," Jake scratched his head before shrugging it off. "Oh well. Time to hit the hay. I'm gonna need it for tomorrow. That's for sure."
After stretching and yawning, Jake walked off as he decided to get ready for bed. He had a long day ahead of him tomorrow, so he had to make sure he was ready for it, especially for what could 'possibly' be his final confrontation with Adam before he gets transferred back to the human school next week. He just hoped that Adam would enjoy what he made for him...
It didn't take long for the rest of the pack members to make it back to their respective exhibits. By now, all of the animal students who reside at the Zoo Aquarium had gotten ready to turn in for the night.
All of them climbed into their sleeping quarters, got themselves comfortable, and went to sleep for the night. They knew that it was Friday tomorrow and that there was a weekend away from there for two days. But it was still a school night. So they made sure they were ready for tomorrow morning.
And then there was Adam, who was back at his house as he had finished brushing his teeth. He was in his usual pajamas as he was also getting ready to turn in for the night, as he walked into his room.
"Well, time to hit the sack," Adam proclaimed as he went over and fluffed up his pillow, and pulled back his blanket. "Tomorrow will be the last time that I ever go to Charles Darwin Middle School. So, I might as well make the most of it and get some shuteye for tomorrow."
Adam then got tucked into bed, turned his light off, and immediately went to sleep. He also spent the night dreaming about how wonderful his life was going to be when he was gonna spend more time with Kerry at Chester Arthur Middle School. There was no doubt about that...
THE FOLLOWING MORNING - 7:00 A.M:
It was a brand new day in Glendale, California. And because it was Friday, all kids and teens look forward to the relaxing weekend after today. And the animal students were no exception, since at the Zoo Aquarium, all of the animal students were getting ready for school, wanting it to be done and over with so they can do what they want to do over the next two days.
Jake, in particular, was 'absolutely' ready to start the school day, as he had his present that he made for Adam stuffed in a box that it could fit in. And he expected himself to carry it with him to school. As soon as he taped it up, he dusted his hands off and observed the cardboard box he put it in.
"Well, that takes care of that," Jake said, sounding satisfied. "Guess I better carry this to school. I just hope that Adam will enjoy it."
After taking a deep breath, Jake went ahead and picked up the box with both hands. From there, he carried it with him to the bus stop outside of the zoo, and he was going to keep his hands on it until they got to school. And then he would stuff it in a safe place where no one would see, especially Adam. He could only pray and cross his fingers that Adam would at the very least, appreciate this gift that he made for him...
Meanwhile, at Adam's house, Adam Lyon himself had woken up upon hearing the sound of his alarm clock going off. He was looking forward to today as he had already gotten dressed and brushed his teeth. Currently, he was downstair getting his lunch together.
"Well, today's the last day that I'm going to Charles Darwin Middle School," Adam proclaimed as he packed his lunch into a paper bag. "Better make the most of it while I can. After this, I'll never have to worry about the threats of going to an all-animal school again. Plus, I'll be seeing more of Kerry after this week. So I might as well prepare to give my farewells to the few animal friends I DO have at that school."
And so Adam put the paper bag with his lunch in it into his backpack, as well as making sure all the school books were in there so he could turn them back in by today. With that, he took his backpack and went out the door, and headed for the bus stop. He had no idea what was in store for him today at school, especially with what Jake Spidermonkey had made for him. He was going to be surprised when he sees it for himself. That's for certain...
END OF CHAPTER 11...
Yeah. That's it for this chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it, despite how short it might've been.
Anyway, the surprise that Jake made for Adam hasn't been revealed here, since it's supposed to be a surprise that could be revealed to Adam in the following chapter. When I came up with the idea, I had no idea what it is Jake came up with. And I still don't. I'll have to think about what it is that he did for the next chapter.
With that said, the next chapter will involve Adam spending his final day at CDMS, most of the faculty and staff will make comments about how they felt about Adam, the pack members will express their feeling about how they'll miss Adam, Ingrid will work out her courage to reveal to Adam how she feels about him, and Jake will reveal his surprise to Adam, along with an apology. Along with a few other things taking place. How will this go? Find out next time, readers.
For now, only if you like, you can leave a review for this chapter, and let me know what you thought of it overall. I don't care either way, since I'm almost done with writing this story.
Otherwise, that's all that I have for now. So until next time, I hope you all take care of yourselves. And on that note, thanks again for reading, everyone!
