Chapter Twenty-Six
Not far from Omega's current position, a certain blue-colored speedster in red shoes had arrived. Sonic the Hedgehog stood on what remained of a bridge, staring at the beast that had ravaged the city and blasted the evil Doctor Robotnik out of the sky. Sonic clenched his fist, his sense of justice burning in his heart.
"This stops right now!" The hedgehog said, "Who do you think you are anyway?"
Just then, an orange ball of light descended in front of him. Sonic's eyes widened with a hint of near recognition, he seemed to know what this light represented and whom he was dealing with.
"It's you." Sonic remarked, "The one who sealed Chaos away. Tikal."
The light transformed into an echidna girl in ancient echidna garb, standing before Sonic and staring at him with desperation in her blue eyes. "My heart has always been with Chaos inside the Master Emerald." She said, "Since the day of the attack on the shrine, Chaos' heart has been filled with rage and he will destroy the world. Look! He's absorbed the Emeralds' power!"
Perfect Chaos roared as the seven Chaos Emeralds encircled him, glowing like a rainbow of power with all of their various colors. And then, the color faded and the emeralds dispersed, having been drained of their energies by the entity using them.
Nearby, Omega was making sure that Shirley was safe, when he spotted an Emerald in his vicinity. The battle robot flew in and grasped it in his hand, his sensors detected that the Chaos Emerald seemed to have been drained of power. However, he could detect there was some power left in the gemstone itself.
The red-black robot looked up at the watery beast, then he scanned the surrounding ruins. His sensors detected him, the blue hedgehog, and he could sense the other Emeralds.
Sonic needed those to fight Chaos. If Omega couldn't take down the beast, then it was up to the hedgehog. And perhaps he could help, they could fight together, the Badnik and the blue blur against the watery deity of destruction. With the hedgehog's speed combined with the Chaos Emeralds and Omega's fire power, they could defeat that thing in a blaze of glory.
Yes. It would work, just maybe, there was a chance that combining their power would be effective. If Omega couldn't defeat that watery monstrosity alone with just his firepower, combining forces with the hedgehog was the only way to annihilate the being known as Chaos.
People were in danger, the future of the world was in question, and there were no other options left.
Omega grasped the near-powerless Chaos Emerald and flew towards Sonic's current position. He made sure that Chaos didn't notice him and flew through the ruins, staying as low as possible to avoid being spotted by the green-eyed water monster. He soon detected the presence of other beings in the city; Big the Cat, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose and that two-tailed fox.
And he could detect the other Emeralds in their possession, they'd must have been close by, just as Omega was. The red-black super Badnik flew towards the overpass where the heroes were gathered with all the Emeralds, then he powered down his thrusters to land harmlessly next to Amy.
However, as soon as he landed, Knuckles clenched his fists defensively and Big yelped in shock.
"There's that dang robot that blew up the Master Emerald!" The red echidna yelled, "Just when the situation can't get worse!"
"WAIT!" Amy cried, "OMEGA'S ON OUR SIDE!"
"AFFIRMATIVE!" Omega agreed, holding out the Chaos Emerald, "MY OBJECTIVE WAS TO DELIVER THIS CHAOS EMERALD TO SONIC THE HEDGEHOG! OBJECTIVE: DEFEAT CHAOS! CHAOS MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE HE DESTROYED THE WORLD! MUST PROTECT ALL ORGANIC LIFE! NO OTHER OPTIONS REMAIN!"
"Glad you made it." Sonic quipped, flashing a thumbs up.
Big relaxed his posture, but he still eyed Omega cautiously. "Hey!" He said, "Don't steal Froggy this time, okay? You're not hear to do that again, right? I just got Froggy back from that mean Doctor Eggman and, right now, we have to deal with a very scary water monster ravaging the nice city."
"MY PRIORITY IS NOT TO CAPTURE THE FROG!" Omega intoned, "THAT MISSION IS NO LONGER RELEVANT! DOCTOR ROBOTNIK'S MASTER REGISTRY IS DELETED FROM MY DATABANKS!"
"Guys, there's no time!" Tails yelled, "Chaos used the negative power of the Chaos Emeralds, but Sonic can use their positive powers. Negative forces aren't the only way to power them and we're not being positive! We need Super Sonic or more people will be hurt and Station Square won't be the only place that suffers Chaos' wrath."
The gang handed the Emeralds over to Sonic and, right on cue, survivors began chanting the hedgehog's name. The seven Chaos Emeralds began to glow, their colors returning; Red, blue, yellow, green, purple, white and turquoise.
All seven of the powerful gemstones floated into the air and surrounded the speedy blue hedgehog. Omega backed up and a burst of light filled the ruins of the city while Chaos roared again...
